Chicago gets its first-ever LGBTQ+ affairs director, Antonio King

I mean, about time, right? ๐Ÿ™„ Chicago's finally getting its act together on LGBTQ+ affairs. I'm glad they're acknowledging these issues, but come on, it should've been sooner. Antonio King seems like a solid pick for the job though - been in the field long enough to know what needs to be done.

Strengthening education programs and addressing health disparities are great startin' points, but let's not forget about the economic aspects. LGBTQ+ owned businesses need more than just support, they need investment. And as for those who've historically been marginalized, like aging LGBTQ+ individuals and trans women of color... well, that's where things get a little too obvious ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. It's all well and good to acknowledge the issues, but we need concrete actions now.

Progress is progress, I guess. Can't wait to see what Chicago does next ๐Ÿ’ช

omg i'm literally so hyped about antonio king being appointed as chicago's first-ever director of lgbtq+ affairs ๐Ÿคฉ๐ŸŒˆ he's gonna tackle those health disparities, support lgbtq+-owned businesses, and address homelessness and youth violence head-on ๐Ÿ’ช the city's already got a solid track record with previous mayors like daley, emmanuel, and lightfoot who were total allies to the community ๐Ÿ’• now king's leading the charge ๐Ÿš€ it's about time we saw more leadership like this from our cities i'm all for education and advocacy to combat stigma and misconceptions around lgbtq+ issues ๐Ÿค gotta give major props to king for sharing his personal story and being an advocate for himself and others ๐Ÿ’•

I'm just catching up on this thread lol ๐Ÿ˜‚... anyway, I think it's awesome that Chicago has finally got its own LGBTQ+ affairs director! It's about time, right? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ King sounds like an amazing guy who's all about giving a voice to the community. I love how he's prioritizing support for small business owners and tackling homelessness - those are some major issues that need addressing ASAP ๐Ÿ’ช.

I'm also glad to see the city taking steps to combat bullying in schools ๐Ÿ“š. It's so important that our kids feel safe and accepted, you know? And providing security for trans women of color is a huge step forward too... it's just heartbreaking that they're even at risk in the first place ๐Ÿ˜”.

I'm curious to see how King's policies play out, but I've got faith in him. He seems like someone who really gets it ๐Ÿค. Fingers crossed that Chicago becomes a beacon of inclusivity and acceptance for everyone! ๐Ÿ‘

omg u gotta feel good about antonio king's appointment 4 chicago!!! ๐Ÿคฉ he's literally gonna tackle some heavy issues head-on, like homelessness & youth violence, which affects so many lgbtq+ folks in the city... i love how mayor brandon johnson is all about equity & protecting his community too ๐Ÿ™Œ u know i'm not one to get super into politics but this feels like a major step 4 progress ๐Ÿš€ and let's be real, king's personal story of struggle with stigma & trauma is gonna make him an AMAZING advocate for the community ๐Ÿค i'm all about it! ๐Ÿ’–
