Chiharu Shiota Weaves Historical Memory, Body and Belonging in “Two Home Countries”

omg i'm so stoked to see this article about Chiharu Shiota 🤩 she's literally one of my favorite artists ever! her thread installations are so mesmerizing and emotional, it's like you can feel the weight of all those threads pulling on your heartstrings 😭. and the way she weaves together themes of existence, connection, and humanity is just genius. i love how she uses symbolism and metaphor to invite viewers to interpret and reflect on their own experiences 🤔. anyway, i'm definitely adding "Two Home Countries" to my watchlist ASAP, can't wait to check out her theatrical production too 🎭👏

Just saw this exhibition at Japan Society 🤩 and it's seriously giving me life! Chiharu Shiota's installations are like walking into a dream world - all those threads creating these intricate webs that just make you wanna touch everything 😍 Her use of gouaches, drawings, sculptures... she's got so many mediums down pat! And the themes she explores? Existence in the absence, connection between worlds... it's all so profoundly human 🌎 The theatrical production is also really interesting, adapting Yukio Mishima's novel into this visually stunning play 🏯 Overall, I'd say Shiota's work is like a big ol' hug for your soul - it's inviting and immersive and just makes you feel seen 👍 https://www.japansociety.org/en/exhibition/two-home-countries
