Couple helps secure young girls on Missouri roller coaster after alleged seat belt malfunction

"A Terrifying Ride: Missouri Couple Stops Young Girls on Roller Coaster After Alleged Seat Belt Malfunction"

A couple's terrifying ride experience at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City turned into an act of bravery when they helped secure two young girls on a roller coaster after an alleged seat belt malfunction. The incident occurred on October 11, when Chris and Cassie Evins were riding the Mamba, the tallest coaster at the park.

According to Chris, the girl behind them announced that her seat belt was not latched, with a significant gap between her and the lap bar. Without hesitation, Chris and his wife held onto the girls and their friend as the 205-foot-tall coaster continued on its journey. Cassie described the scene, saying, "72 miles an hour, holding onto somebody. It's terrifying."

The couple said they won't be returning to the park until they see changes made to ensure rider safety. Their concerns were echoed by another guest who reported a similar alleged seat belt malfunction on the Mamba just one day later.

Inspectors from the Missouri Division of Fire Safety evaluated the coaster and found that some restraint devices were not functioning properly. The ride was taken out of service, with repairs expected to be completed by Thursday or Friday.

A spokesperson for Six Flags, the parent company of Worlds of Fun, acknowledged the concerns and stated that the safety of guests and team members is their top priority. However, Chris Evins remains unconvinced, saying, "We need to see the change, and once we see that change, I will be comfortable taking my four children."

The incident highlights the importance of ensuring rider safety on amusement park rides and has left many questioning how such incidents can occur.

I mean, what's up with these roller coaster ride staffs? πŸ˜’ They should've noticed the seat belt wasn't locked down before letting those girls climb on in the first place. I'm not saying it was Chris and Cassie's fault, but come on, you gotta be paying attention when people are strapped in for a 205-foot drop! πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ And now they're all like "we won't ride again until we see changes" ... like that's not going to happen, right? πŸ™„ The park will fix it, and everyone will be good as new... but I'm still gonna have nightmares about those girls screaming while their seat belts didn't work 🎒😳

OMG, this is insane 🀯! I mean, I know accidents can happen, but a 205-foot-tall roller coaster just coming to a halt mid-ride? That's some crazy stuff 😲. I gotta give those two parents major props for keeping it cool under pressure and saving those kids' lives tho πŸ’ͺ. It's great that the park is taking steps to fix the issue, but like Chris said, safety protocols need to be in place before he and his family (and many others) feel comfortable taking their kiddos on the ride again 🀝. I'm all for keeping the parks fun and thrilling, but not at the cost of rider safety 😊

OMG, 72 miles an hour with a gap bigger than your aunt's attitude towards dieting? 🀣 But seriously, who needs that kind of drama when you're trying to have a good time? πŸ˜‚ I mean, I've heard of seat belt malfunctions before, but this is like something out of a horror movie! πŸ’€ It's crazy that these couple just stepped up and saved the day (and the girls' behinds). πŸ™Œ

I'm not saying it's not serious or anything, but let's not forget that roller coasters are meant to be thrilling, right? 😎 I mean, if you're gonna get your safety concerns straight, make sure you can still scream and yell like a lunatic while doing so! πŸ˜‚ But for real, kudos to Chris and Cassie for being heroes on the ride. Maybe they'll inspire some changes at Worlds of Fun... or maybe they just want their free passes back πŸ€ͺ.

omg that's so crazy what if they got hurt lol its like a dream come true for all us who love thrill rides but also super concerned about safety idk what more can be done to ensure our safety but maybe they need to do more inspection tests on the coasters or something thats so cool they stopped those girls from getting hurt lol

OMG u guys I'm literally shaking thinking about this roller coaster incident 🀯😱 at Worlds of Fun! The couple who stopped the girls from getting hurt were total heroes πŸ’ͺπŸ‘, I mean what would've happened if they didn't act fast?! πŸ•°οΈ It's crazy to think that some ride safety devices weren't working properly 😳. As a parent myself, it's terrifying to think of my kids on those rides and now I'm even more vigilant about seat belts πŸš«πŸ‘€. Six Flags needs to take this seriously and make changes ASAP πŸ’₯πŸ•’, no one should have to go through that terror #RideSafetyMatters #HeroesAmongUs #NoMoreRollerCoasterTragedies

🚨 this is absolutely insane what happened on that roller coaster!!! i mean, i've heard of people panicking in emergency situations but to have a couple just take control like that? it's either super brave or super reckless 🀯. and now they're not gonna be back until there are actual changes made?! i get why they'd want to make sure their kids are safe but this is a whole thing πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. 205 miles an hour is way too fast for someone to just hold onto another person, even if it's a friend or family member 😱. what kind of checks and balances are in place at those parks?! apparently not enough πŸ’”

man, i'm so freaked out just thinking about this! like, what if those girls had gotten seriously hurt? or even worse, who knows what could've happened to them?! 🀯 anyway, it's not just the incident itself that's concerning, it's how it was handled. i mean, the couple saw something that seemed fishy and took matters into their own hands. kudos to them for being brave, but also, shouldn't there be proper procedures in place for these kinds of situations? like, someone should've been notified right away or something?

😱🎠 Oh no, this is totally insane! I mean, I've heard of seat belt malfunctions before but never something like that on a roller coaster. Thankfully, those two kids were safe, but what if the parents weren't there? 🀯 This couple's bravery is truly amazing and I'm so proud of them for stepping up to protect those little girls. But, you're right, it's not just about their actions, it's also about how the park can prevent such incidents in the future... maybe more regular checks on the ride's safety? πŸ€”

I think it's a bit overkill for people like Chris Evins to demand a whole overhaul of the ride just because he had one bad experience πŸ€”πŸ’Ί. I mean, accidents happen and some people might've been caught off guard. It's not like they're expecting a miracle solution or anything πŸ˜…. Maybe if everyone freaked out every time something went wrong, nobody would ever enjoy riding again? That wouldn't be very fun for the rest of us 🎒.

Of course, safety is super important and all that jazz πŸ’―, but maybe just take it one step at a time? Get the ride fixed, make sure everything is working properly, and then reassess. I'm not saying they should've just sat there and done nothing πŸ˜’, but let's not jump to conclusions here πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. Chris Evins might be a hero in his own mind, but he needs to chill out and look at the bigger picture 🀯.

omg what a crazy situation!!! i cant even imagine being in those shoes (literally lol) chris & cassie r total heroes for stepping up like that & making sure those girls were safe πŸ’•πŸ€— i totally get why they wont be back to the park until they see some changes made - safety first is EVERYTHING πŸš¨πŸ’―

They're not just worried about roller coaster safety, they're worried about the ride to sanity! πŸš€πŸ˜‚ [ GIF of a car driving recklessly, but then suddenly stopping and looking back in fear ]
Ride or die for these two! πŸ’•πŸŽ  [Image of a couple holding hands while riding a roller coaster]
The Mamba's got more than just steep drops, it's also got steep learning curves when it comes to safety checks πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜¬

This is why you shouldn't be browsing memes on the way to the park... or checking your seatbelt! πŸ“±πŸš« [Image of a cartoon character getting strapped into a roller coaster with a terrified expression]
Roller coasters: where the only thing more thrilling than the drop is the existential dread that comes after. πŸ˜‚

omg u guys idk why ppl are so quick 2 judge these couple they literally saved 2 kids from what cudve b a fatal accident lol i mean, yeah, maybe they shouldn't be ridin coaster with kids but at least they tried 2 help out when it mattered πŸ€— also i feel bad 4 the couple, its gonna b super hard 4 them 2 go back 2 worlds of fun without seein some changes made 2 prevent such incidents fr future

Ugh, what a bunch of drama 🀣. Like, come on, these girls weren't even hurt or anything... it's just a roller coaster ride! I know people are worried about safety and all that, but I think this couple is just trying to get attention. "Oh no, my seat belt wasn't latched!" Give me a break. It was probably just a little mix-up. And now they're gonna hold Worlds of Fun accountable? Good luck with that πŸ€‘. The park's safety record is fine, and if some devices aren't working right, that's not the end of the world...

Ugh, this is just so messed up 🀯... I mean, can you imagine being on that coaster with your seat belt not latched? It's like a nightmare come true 😱. And what really gets me is that there were like three adults (including the couple) who had to hold onto those two little girls to keep them safe πŸ’ͺ. I just hope they didn't have any serious injuries or anything.

And I feel bad for the Evins family, you know? They're basically saying that their experience made them question whether it's even worth going back to the park πŸ€”. And I don't blame 'em one bit. If I were in their shoes (no pun intended 😜), I'd be pretty hesitant too.

I mean, I remember when I was a kid, we used to go to amusement parks all the time and they always had these strict safety checks in place πŸ“. It's weird that it seems like some of those measures have fallen by the wayside now πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. Anyway, hopefully they get that ride fixed ASAP and make sure no one else has to go through what those little girls did πŸ˜”.

OMG, like, what's up with this?! 🀯 A couple just saved two young girls from a potential disaster on a roller coaster in Kansas City! I mean, the fact that their seat belt wasn't latched is crazy, and those 72 miles an hour are no joke 😱. The couple was totally brave holding onto everyone as they rode out the coaster. I get why they're not going back to the park until they see some serious changes made - safety first, for sure! πŸ™Œ It's wild that another guest reported a similar issue just one day later... what's going on?! πŸ€” The fact that inspectors found some restraint devices weren't working properly is super concerning. Six Flags needs to step up their game and make those repairs ASAP so no one else gets hurt 😬.

omg this is super scary i mean who wants to ride a roller coaster with a broken seatbelt?

i think its great that the couple stepped in and helped those girls, though they were literally shaking and screaming on the ride . it was like they were holding their breath the whole time , no wonder chris evins said he'll only take his kids back if they see some changes

the thing is, how do these things happen? like what kinda maintenance do you need to do for a roller coaster ride ? i mean, we need better safety protocols in place . also, why did it take so long for the park staff and inspectors to notice?

anyway, i'm glad no one got seriously hurt but still super worried about this. who's with me? 🀯🚨πŸ’₯

Ugh, this is so scary 🀯... I mean, I know the couple acted really quickly to save those girls but it's just insane that a seat belt malfunction happened in the first place! Like, what if they weren't there to catch her? 😱 Six Flags needs to do more to test their rides and make sure everything is working properly. And now they're saying repairs will be done by Thursday or Friday... how long are these things taking? It just feels like they're not taking this seriously enough πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one, especially if it happens to my own kids one day 😬
