Crunchyroll Prices Get Bump, Fans Left With Fewer Options

Anime enthusiasts have grown accustomed to the inevitable price hikes at streaming services. Today, Crunchyroll announced that it will be raising prices across all its plans by $2, effective immediately.

The Fan tier, which previously cost $8 a month, is now set at $10, while the Mega Fan Tier has increased from $12 to $14 per month. The Ultimate Fan Tier, introduced in 2020 with offline viewing capabilities, will now cost $18 a month.

While some fans may see this as an opportunity to upgrade to the newer, more premium options like the Mega Fan or Ultimate Fan Tiers, those who currently use the Fan tier are being offered a discounted annual plan for a limited time. The catch? Viewers with this plan can only watch offline on one device at a time.

The move has left many anime fans wondering whether the benefits of Crunchyroll's newer tiers justify the increased cost. With prices continuing to rise, it seems unlikely that these hikes will remain unchanged anytime soon.
 
I'm really disappointed in Crunchyroll's new price hike 🤕. I've been a fan of their service for years and always thought they were pretty reasonable with their pricing. Now it feels like they're just nickel and diming us at this point. $2 might not seem like a lot, but when you factor in the annual plan that's only available to Fan tier users (which is already the most basic option), it starts to add up.

I'm also worried about the fact that they're limiting the offline viewing experience on those discounted plans 📊. I get that it's not as flexible as the newer tiers, but for fans who just want to watch their shows at home without a stable internet connection, this is a major inconvenience.

It feels like Crunchyroll is prioritizing profits over user experience right now 💸. I hope they realize that their loyal fanbase won't be around forever and start reconsidering their pricing strategy 🤞.
 
😐 i think crunchroll is just trying to squeeze more $$ out of us, tbh... 🤑 they're basically giving away offline viewing or a 'discount' just so people don't freak out and jump ship. but honestly, who can afford that much? 🤯 my fave shows are on other platforms now & i'm stuck with those 📺💸 maybe some ppl will splurge on the new tiers tho... idk

I'm literally so done with Crunchyroll right now 🤯! Like, I get it, they gotta make a living and all but can't they just chill for once? They're like "Hey fans we're gonna jack up prices again" and I'm over here thinking "Can't you see I'm barely scraping by as it is?"

And don't even get me started on the annual plan thing... so that's an option now? Only one device offline at a time? What even is the point of that? Are they trying to nickel and dime us or something? It feels like every time they make a change, it's just gonna be some other price hike down the line. I swear I'm starting to think about switching to Funimation...

omg i cant believe they just hiked their prices AGAIN 🤯 like what even is the point of all the extra tiers? and now people have to pay more to watch offline on one device at a time? 🙄 thats just not fair. cant they just offer it for everyone on every device or something? idk about you guys but i think ill be sticking with my current plan... maybe ill just find other free anime sites online lol 😉
 
I'm kinda bummed about this price hike on Crunchyroll 🤕. I mean, I get it, they gotta keep up with the streaming game and all, but $2 might be a bit steep for some of us budget-conscious anime enthusiasts 😬. And honestly, who really needs to pay more just to watch their favorite shows? I guess the offline viewing on one device at a time deal is somewhat tempting 🤔, but it's not like we can't already use our phones and laptops to watch Crunchyroll... right? 📱

On the other hand, if I'm being real with myself, I probably do wanna splurge on that Ultimate Fan Tier for its offline capabilities 🎥. But at the same time, I don't know if it's worth shelling out an extra $10 a month just to have that feature 🤑.
