Crystal Palace decide not to sack manager Oliver Glasner after meeting

Crystal Palace Chairman Steve Parish has decided not to sack manager Oliver Glasner despite a tumultuous meeting, where Glasner openly criticized the board for abandoning him and his team by offloading star captain Marc Guéhi to Manchester City just hours before their crucial match against Sunderland.

Glasner had an extraordinary outburst in two press conferences last week, expressing his dismay and feeling of being abandoned by Palace's board. The Austrian's comments were particularly biting when he mentioned the sale of Eberechi Eze to Arsenal last August as another example of the club's lack of support. His claim that "we feel we're being abandoned" resonated with Palace chair Parish, who is now said to want Glasner to see out his contract until the end of the season.

Palace have accepted the offer for Guéhi, reportedly because he was out of contract in the summer and could have left for free. The decision has been made in the club's best interest, given that Palace will be able to continue with their current squad dynamics without major disruption. However, Glasner remains unconvinced about the board's commitment, stating that "I don't need any support" and instead believes that Palace are capable of turning things around on their own.

On a separate note, Palace are still in talks over a potential move for 19-year-old forward Sidiki Cherif from Angers. The club had floated an idea including Jonathan David in the deal but Juventus want to keep the Canada striker, who has no interest in moving to south London after joining Serie A from Lille last summer.

As for Glasner's future at Palace, it seems uncertain whether he will be able to salvage his tenure as manager or if Parish and the board have decided that enough is enough. Despite the criticism of the board, Glasner remains committed to seeing out his contract until the end of the season, which may prove to be a challenge for Palace given their current form slump.

I'm low-key impressed that Steve Parish actually listened to Oliver Glasner's rant and didn't come down on him like a ton of bricks 🤣. I mean, the dude had some valid points about being abandoned by the board, especially with Guéhi getting sold just hours before their big match against Sunderland. But at the same time, I can see why they'd want to keep Glasner on - he's got experience and all that jazz 🤔.

It's like, you get it both ways, right? The board doesn't have to take his criticism personally, but also don't be a bunch of jerks about it 😐. And honestly, with Palace being in a slump right now, they could really use some fresh ideas (or at least someone who's not totally checked out on the team). Fingers crossed Glasner can turn things around and show the board he's worth sticking around for 💪

I'm low-key surprised by Steve Parish's decision not to sack Oliver Glasner 🤔. I mean, Glasner had some major beefs with the board about Guéhi and Eze being sold without consulting him, so it does feel like he's still got a point there. But at the same time, you gotta respect Parsish wanting to stick with his manager, especially since they're in a bit of a slump right now ⚽️.

I think what's gonna be interesting is how Glasner's attitude changes if he can get Palace back on track 🔥. If he does turn it around, I could see the board being more willing to give him another chance to prove himself 💯. On the other hand, if they keep losing, I can totally see Parsish making a move to bring in fresh blood 👋.

And omg, Sidiki Cherif is a total unknown quantity 🤷‍♂️. I've heard he's got some serious skills, but it'll be sick if Palace can land him and actually make him shine ⚡️!

man this glasner dude is like the ultimate victim complex 🤣, blames everyone but himself. palace's board didn't exactly have a glowing track record under him anyway... the sale of guéhi was probably a necessary evil tbh, can't blame them for trying to shore up the squad. Glasner's all talk and no action lol, wants palace to turn it around on their own without any help? good luck with that, mate 🤦‍♂️

🤔 Palace's situation with Glasner just got more interesting. I think he's been too harsh on them tho 😒. The board made tough decisions, especially about Guéhi & Eze sellings. If they wanted him out, they should've said so sooner. Now, it's about trust. Can Palace stick to the plan or will Glasner keep stirring the pot? 🤦‍♂️ Either way, I'm intrigued... 👀

I gotta say, I'm loving the Crystal Palace drama 🤯! But seriously, Steve Parish's decision not to sack Oliver Glasner is def a bold move. The guy's got spunk and isn't afraid to speak his mind, even if it means going up against the board 😂. It's like he's saying, "I may not agree with you guys, but I'm still gonna see this thing through." I'm curious to see how things play out - will Palace turn their season around or is Glasner's time running out ⏰? One thing's for sure, it's been entertaining to watch 😁.

I dont get why they would keep him after all those things he said about them... 🤔 I mean, i was at the match last week and it was super awkward watching him try to give a speech with that look on his face lol 😂 but for real though, if palace really wanna make it in the league, they need some serious change.

🤔 this decision by Steve Parish has got me thinking... what even is the point of having a manager who's so invested in the team's performance? shouldn't it be about winning games and bringing home points regardless of personal feelings 🏆? Glasner wants to prove that he can turn things around, but if Palace are struggling now, how much time will it take for him to make a difference ⏰? and is it even worth trying when the whole situation feels like a mess? 🚮 palace's squad dynamics are already disrupted, what else needs to happen before Glasner gets the boot? 🤷‍♂️

OMG, Crystal Palace's chairman Steve Parish must be thinking "we're not crazy... yet" after sacking the poor guy in question ! I mean, who needs stability when you can have drama and tension in the dugout? 🤣 On a serious note tho, Glasner seems like a proud bird who won't fly away quietly. Maybe he's right that Palace are capable of turning things around on their own, but it's gonna be tough with them in form slump mode atm... 😒

As for Sidiki Cherif, 19 and already making waves in Serie A? Girl, bye! Just kidding, I'm sure he's super talented and all that, but Palace gotta want him bad if they're willing to make Jonathan David an offer 🤑. Either way, Cherif's the one we should be watching out for... or not, depending on how well Palace do in the transfer market 😏

Wow, can you believe the drama going on at Crystal Palace right now? Interesting that Steve Parish is willing to stick with Oliver Glasner despite all the criticism he's been getting 🤔💥

idk why ppl think parish should've sacked glasner already lol like the dude had 2 press conferences about it w/ his emotions all over the place 🤷‍♂️ u gotta give him points 4 staying calm & professional thru all that drama but at the same time, palace's form is pretty meh rn so maybe its not entirely fair on glasner to expect them 2 win everything with such a weak squad 💔
