Cynthia Erivo Opens 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade With Powerful ‘Feeling Good’ Performance

Cynthia Erivo Brings Emotional 'Feeling Good' Performance to Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

In a powerful and poignant performance, 38-year-old Cynthia Erivo opened the 99th edition of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with her rendition of Nina Simone's classic song "Feeling Good." Standing on a small circular stage accompanied by a pianist, Erivo delivered a moving and emotional performance that left audiences in awe.

Wearing a long burgundy coat and matching hat, Erivo commanded attention as she belted out the iconic tune in the middle of the street, surrounded by cheering crowds lining both sides of the road. Her powerful voice soared through the streets of New York City, filling the air with hope and joy.

Originally written and composed for the 1964 musical "The Roar of the Greasepaint – The Smell of the Crowd," "Feeling Good" was first performed on stage by Cy Grant. Erivo's performance brought a new level of depth and emotion to the song, showcasing her remarkable vocal range and control.

Erivo stars as Elphaba in the long-awaited second installment of the "Wicked" duology, directed by Jon M. Chu. The film, which hit theaters on November 21, also stars Ariana Grande as Glinda. This performance is a testament to Erivo's impressive talent and versatility as an actress and singer.

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade featured a star-studded lineup of performers, including K-pop Demon Hunters singers HUNTR/X, Lainey Wilson, Ciara, Foreigner, Debbie Gibson, Jewel, Lil Jon, Kool & the Gang, Taylor Momsen, Busta Rhymes, Shaggy, and Teyana Taylor. The event was hosted by TODAY anchors Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker.

Erivo's performance marked the official opening of the 2025 holiday season, airing live across all U.S. time zones on NBC and Peacock on November 27 at 8:30 a.m. ET.

I'm still reeling from that emotional performance by Cynthia Erivo 🤯. Her voice just gave me chills! I mean, "Feeling Good" is already such an iconic song, but she brought this new level of depth and emotion to it... I love how the whole city of NYC was feeling her energy 💃🏽. It's like the holiday season officially starts when she stepped out on that stage 🎄. And can we talk about how talented she is? I've seen Wicked a few times and now I'm dying to see this new installment... has anyone else been following her journey?

She brought tears to my eyes! 😭 The way she commanded attention on that tiny stage, her voice just soared through the streets of NYC. It was like a ray of hope and joy for everyone there. And I love how she mixed it up with her own vibe, adding some emotional depth to the classic song. 🎤 I've been listening to her new 'Wicked' film soundtrack nonstop since I saw that performance. idk why everyone's making such a big deal about Cynthia Erivo's performance 🤷‍♀️. it was just some girl singing a song, i mean don't get me wrong, she's got skills and all but it's not like she broke the internet or anything 💁‍♀️. i'm so over the whole 'she brought emotion' vibe... can't people just enjoy something without having to analyze every single detail? 🤔 let her have fun up there with her piano playing buddy, no need for a 10-minute feature 🎶

And can we talk about how stunning she looked in that long burgundy coat? 💁‍♀️ She totally commanded the attention of everyone on the streets of New York City 🗽️. I think this performance is proof that Cynthia Erivo is one talented artist, not just an actress or singer, but a performer who can bring hope and joy to people's lives ❤️.
