Davis Cup: Great Britain beat Norway 3-0 to move into final round of qualifying

Britain's Davis Cup hopes have been given a major boost after they beat Norway 4-0 to move into the final round of qualifying. The doubles match was won by Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool who, despite being the heavy favourites, faced a scare when their opponents took the second set.

However, the Brits eventually came from behind to win in straight sets, with Cash and Glasspool ultimately coming out on top 6-2, 2-6, 7-6. The victory means Britain will face either Ecuador or Australia later this year for a place in November's eight-team Finals.

The singles matches also saw success for the British team, with Jacob Fearnley beating Nicolai Budkov Kjaer 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 and Jack Draper defeating Durasovic.

Despite some concerns over injury, Britain were comfortable winners against a weakened Norway side who were without world number 12 Casper Ruud following the birth of his first child.

🀩 I'm so stoked about this win for Britain! They're getting closer to making it into the Finals and it's giving me all the feels! Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool played such a great doubles match, even when they were down in the second set, they managed to come back strong. 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 is an insane win! 🎾πŸ’₯ And those singles matches weren't too shabby either, Jacob Fearnley and Jack Draper are on fire right now! The team's overall performance was solid, especially considering the lack of Casper Ruud. Can't wait to see them take on Ecuador or Australia later this year! 🀞

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s pretty cool that Britain's Davis Cup hopes are looking up like this 🀩. I mean, beating Norway 4-0 is a huge win and it's not like they were playing against a top-ranked team or anything. The fact that the doubles match went to three sets shows that they're definitely a force to be reckoned with, even if they were the favorites at first. And it's great to see the singles players doing well too, Jacob Fearnley and Jack Draper are looking like stars in the making πŸ’«. Of course, you never know what's going to happen in sports, but I think Britain's got a good shot at qualifying for the finals 🀞.

just saw this news & I'm totally hyped for Britain's Davis Cup hopes πŸŽ‰ they definitely got that last win at the right time! gotta give it to Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool, those guys came from behind & won in straight sets - talk about clutch performance πŸ’ͺ and now they get to play against Ecuador or Australia later this year - whoever wins, I'm sure Britain's gonna put up a great fight πŸ™Œ and hey, it's awesome that Jacob Fearnley got his win despite being down 3-6 in the first set πŸ˜… & Jack Draper just crushed Durasovic πŸ’₯ so fingers crossed for our British team! πŸ’•

πŸ™Œ oh man I'm so hyped for Britain's Davis Cup chances now! 🀩 they've been through some tough matches already and to come out on top like that is a major confidence booster. Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool are absolute legends, I mean who else can take down the favorites in straight sets? 😲 and I love how Jacob Fearnley came from behind to win his singles match, that's what it's all about! πŸ’ͺ now let's hope they can keep this momentum going and make it to the finals. Ecuador or Australia, either way I'm rooting for them to bring home that trophy πŸ†πŸ’₯

omg i'm so stoked for britain!!! their doubles team is literally on fire 🀩, and i love how they came from behind to win that match 😲. and i know some ppl were worried about injuries but it looks like the team is in good shape. but anyway what im most hyped about is the fact that britain will be playing for a spot in the finals against either ecuador or australia later this year πŸ†πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§. can't wait to see how they do! πŸ’ͺ

🀩 just saw this match and I'm so stoked for Britain! They've really got their act together now πŸ’ͺ. The doubles match was intense, I love how they came from behind to win in straight sets πŸ˜…. And Jacob Fearnley's singles win against Budkov Kjaer was epic πŸŽ‰. Norway didn't stand a chance without Casper Ruud though... that's gotta be tough for the team πŸ€•. Now they're one step closer to the finals, fingers crossed for a great performance 🀞 https://www.tennis.com/news/britain-davis-cup-qualifying-norway-match/

πŸ€” Norway's absence was definitely felt, they got destroyed lol. Guess that new dad Casper Ruud is gonna be out for a bit longer πŸ˜…. Britain's team looked solid, though, especially in doubles. Those guys are actually pretty talented 🎾. Need to see how they do against Ecuador or Australia, but overall, it's looking up for the Brits πŸ‘

🎾 I'm loving this news! It's so refreshing to see our British tennis team doing well and giving us hope for the Davis Cup final πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§! Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool totally outplayed their opponents, even when they were down in that second set 😲. And can we talk about how awesome it is that Jacob Fearnley and Jack Draper both won their singles matches? We need more British tennis players rocking the courts! πŸ’ͺ It's not ideal that Norway was weakened by Casper Ruud's absence, but our guys made the most of it 🀝. Bring on Ecuador or Australia - let's go Britain! βš”οΈπŸŽ‰

I don’t usually comment but... I think this is great news for British tennis fans! It's awesome to see the doubles team come from behind and win, especially since they were considered heavy favourites. Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool must be on top of the world right now πŸ™Œ. The fact that Norway was weakened by injuries and wasn't at full strength means Britain had a pretty easy ride. Still, beating one of the strongest teams in qualifying is no joke – I'm hyped for them to face Ecuador or Australia later this year! Maybe we'll see some British tennis stars making waves in the Finals 🀞

πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ I'm more about wellness than sports, but it's awesome to see the British team doing so well! You know what's just as impressive? The mental game they played against their opponents 🀯. It's all about staying focused and calm under pressure. Speaking of which, have you guys tried that new mindfulness app that's been getting a lot of buzz? I've been using it to manage my stress levels while watching sports with friends... and let me tell you, it's a game-changer 😎

UK's tennis team on fire πŸš€πŸŽΎ! They're gonna take down either Ecuador or Aus this year and I'm hyped for it! Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash are an unstoppable duo πŸ’ͺ

just had to say this, norway is like literally getting crushed πŸ˜‚ their doubles player gets taken out in the second set and they still expect to win? anyway, gotta be nice for britain getting a boost like this πŸŽ‰ lloyd glasspool and julian cash are fire, they really stepped up when it mattered most πŸ‘

🀩 OMG I'm so hyped for British tennis right now!!! πŸ˜† The doubles match was so intense! I mean, those Norwegians took the second set but our guys came back and won it in straight sets πŸŽ‰. And Jacob Fearnley's win over Nicolai Budkov Kjaer is amazing!! πŸ‘ Jack Draper beating Durasovic too is super awesome πŸ’ͺ. This is like our school's sports day all over again, we're all cheering for them 🀝. I wonder who they'll face next? Ecuador or Australia? Guess we'll just have to wait and see 😁. Anyway, can't help but think of my school's tennis team too... maybe one day we'll make it to the finals πŸ†πŸŽΎ!

just saw that brits beat norway 4-0 in davis cup qualifying πŸŽ‰πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ and i'm actually kinda stoked about it! think we've got a solid team there and i love how juliian cash & lloyd glasspool came from behind to win the doubles match πŸ˜… that scare when they took the 2nd set was insane, but they bounced back strong. and Jacob Fearnley is looking like a legit singles player now 🀩 can't wait to see them take on either ecuador or australia in the finals... 🎯

πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ I mean can you believe it? The British team just knocked out Norway and now they're one step away from making it to the finals! πŸŽ‰ My kid's school is still trying to figure out how to get them involved in sports (they're so busy with music lessons anyway), but I think this might just be the thing to get my kiddo on board... who knows, maybe one day they'll be playing for Britain and bringing home some medals! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ’ͺ

Just saw that Britain smashed Norway 4-0 in Davis Cup qualifying πŸ€©πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§!! Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool are on fire! I was worried they'd choke under pressure, but those guys showed some serious grit πŸ˜‚. Jacob Fearnley's win over Nicolai Budkov Kjaer was a masterclass 🎾, and Jack Draper is looking strong too! Now, let's hope the team stays healthy for the final round and takes down Ecuador or Australia πŸ‘ŠπŸ’ͺ

im not surprised they won lol, norway didnt look that strong anyway πŸ€”. but seriously, it's nice to see britain getting some momentum in tennis, we've been waiting for ages for them to make a move in the competition. and yeah, it's interesting that cash and glasspool were able to come back from behind - that doubles game was intense! but on the flip side, they'll probably have to step up their game if they wanna beat ecuador or australia, those teams are pretty tough πŸ’ͺ. also, nice win for jack draper, he's been looking solid lately 🎾. fingers crossed they can keep this momentum going and make a real push in the finals 🀞

man i'm so nostalgic about the brits winning stuff like this remember when we had captaincy drama with sam warner lol but anyway back to this match they actually didn't play that bad considering norway was pretty depleted without casper ruud oh and julian cash is a legend btw he's got skills for days

I'm loving this British Davis Cup vibes πŸ’ͺ🏽! Their team is looking super strong and I think they've got a great shot at making it to the finals πŸŽ‰. Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool's doubles win was insane, especially after being down 2-6 in the second set 😲. And can we talk about Jacob Fearnley's singles win? 3-6 is pretty rough, but he still managed to come back from that and take it 10-7 - what a gritter πŸ™Œ! Now they've got some tough matches ahead against Ecuador or Australia, but I think they're up for the challenge πŸ’ͺ. Bring it on, Britain's tennis team πŸŽΎπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§! πŸ‘
