Detroit council member proposes ban on masked law enforcement officers - Detroit Metro Times

I don’t usually comment but... I think it’s kinda weird that we need a law to make cops show their faces while they do their job. Like, isn't that just common sense? 🤔 But at the same time, I can see why some people would be upset if they're not sure who's behind the mask. It’s all about trust and accountability, right?

I mean, I've seen videos of cops in masks during immigration enforcement raids and it does look pretty suspicious. And yeah, Alex Pretti’s death was a major wake-up call for a lot of people. So maybe this law is a good idea to prevent something like that from happening again. 🙏

But what really got me thinking is the fact that there are already cities passing similar laws in other states... and it's all because of concerns about transparency and accountability in policing. It’s not just about the masks, it’s about making sure the public knows who they're dealing with. 💡

omg i cant even think straight about this 🤯 - like if police officers have to show their faces while doing their job its not rocket science ppl can see them coming 👮‍♂️ meanwhile detroit is trying to make a statement and honor alex prettis memory 💔 it makes so much sense that we need more transparency in law enforcement esp with those immigration agents theyre like total mystery men 🕵️‍♂️ anyway im all for it and i hope the city council votes for it ASAP 👍

I was just thinking about my favorite coffee shop in town 🍵, you know? They have this amazing cappuccino machine that makes the perfect foam every time 😂. I swear, it's like magic! Anyway, back to the news... I don't think we should be too hasty on banning masks for law enforcement officers. I mean, can you imagine if everyone had to show their face all the time? It'd be like a never-ending game of "Who's Who?" 🤣. And what about people who wear masks for medical reasons or cultural practices? We gotta think about that too, right? Plus, have you ever noticed how some law enforcement officers already kinda sorta wear masks when they're doing their thing? Like, undercover ops and stuff? Maybe we should focus on regulating those kinds of situations instead? Just a thought 🤔.
