DHS has arrested people filming their agents, and Sens. Duckworth, Durbin say those arrests must stop

🤔 I think this is crazy! The gov't can't just arrest ppl for doing their job - like, what even is that? 🙄 They're saying filming agents is "protected" First Amendment stuff but it's not exactly the same as, say, writing a news article or something. And why would they need to hide their actions like that? It feels super fishy to me... 🐟 Anyway, I'm glad some senators are speaking up about this and demanding answers! We gotta know what our tax dollars are being used for, you know? 💸

OMG, can u believe this?! 🤯 US senators are like "enough is enough" about these agents arresting journalists for filming them in public! 😂 I mean, come on, they're not even protecting national security or anything, just doing some routine immigration checks. And now the senators are saying that filming them is protected First Amendment activity, which makes so much sense to me. 🤓 Like, if you're doing your job and not putting anyone in danger, why should journalists have to be censored? It's like, basic human rights, right? 💖

Can you believe this? Like what's next? They're already getting all up in the grill about immigration agents arresting journalists... isn't that like something out of a bad 90s cop show?! 🤣 I mean, come on, filming public officials while they're doing their job is basically like asking for it, right? And now these senators are all bent outta shape about it. They should be happy that the First Amendment's being tested like this... you know what would've happened back in the day? Journalists would've just kept on reporting and not thought twice about getting scooped up by the man! 📰👮‍♂️ It's all just so... American, you know? 😎

I'm totally bugged by this latest development 🙄. I mean, think about it - journalists are doing their job, reporting on events that need to be exposed, and yet they're being arrested for filming the very people in power who are supposed to be serving the public interest. It's just not right.

And let's get real, if filming agents was really going to put them at risk, wouldn't the department have some sort of protocol in place to ensure safety? I mean, we've got surveillance cameras all over the place, for goodness sake! 🤦‍♀️ But no, it seems that the only thing that matters is silencing dissenting voices.

The fact that these agents are using our waterways and other public spaces for "partisan ends" is just another example of the kind of abuse of power we're seeing. And now, we've got politicians like Duckworth and Durbin standing up for what's right and demanding answers. It's about time someone did 🙌.

I think it's totally messed up that these agents are making arrests for just doing their job... I mean, as reporters! 🤔 They're protected by the First Amendment, right? It doesn't make sense that filming them in public areas is considered a threat to their safety. If they were really worried about something, wouldn't they just have some security guards instead of sending out film crews and photographers? It's like they want to silence people who are just trying to expose what's going on with the immigration system.

And can we talk about how ridiculous it is that these agents are using Chicago's waterways for "partisan ends"? 🌊 Like, come on! This isn't some sort of spy movie. The fact that reporters like Steve Held are getting arrested for filming them just to prove a point shows that there's something shady going on here.

We need more transparency about how our tax dollars are being spent, especially when it comes to military deployments without proper justification. It's time for our politicians to step up and make some real changes. 🤝
