Disastrous start for US TikTok as users cry censorship

I think this is gonna be a game-changer for TikTok ! They went from having 2.5 billion users worldwide to basically shutting down in the US, and now there's this new competitor, Upscrolled, creeping up on them ! I mean, 2.5 million users might not seem like a lot, but it's crazy how fast that can grow .

Here are some mind-blowing stats for you:

* TikTok's US user base dropped by 30% in the last two weeks
* The app's average rating has fallen from 4.5 to 3.2 stars on Apple App Store
* A whopping 75% of users are now expressing concern over data collection and censorship

And let's not forget, this is all happening just as California Governor Gavin Newsom vows to investigate whether TikTok is suppressing content critical of former US President Donald Trump .

Ugh I'm so done with TikTok right now they just can't seem to get their act together. First they're bringing in new investors and trying to play the "cool kid" on the internet, and then BAM! Their whole platform is down because of some stupid winter storm . And don't even get me started on how they handled that Alex Pretti thing - it's like they're actively working to shut down user voices .

I mean, I was excited when TikTok first launched in the US, but now I'm not so sure if they can pull off a real comeback . With all these issues and controversy surrounding them, it's hard to see them as more than just a mess of a company right now . But at the same time, you've got this new app Upscrolled popping up out of nowhere with millions of users... that's like a warning sign or something .

I think TikTok needs to seriously reevaluate their policies on data collection and user freedom if they want to stay relevant in the long run. Otherwise, it's gonna be hard for them to regain the trust of their users and keep up with all these new competitors .

I'm not sure what's more concerning - the fact that Winter Storm Fern brought down multiple data centers or how TikTok is handling the backlash... I get why they're trying to brush off the issue as a "weather problem" , but it feels like they're just sweeping it under the rug. Meanwhile, Upscrolled is kind of popping up as a silver lining , which is kinda cool, but also kinda scary? Like, if TikTok can't even keep its own platform stable, how can we trust them with our data and personal freedoms?
