'Do you expect me to talk?': Dick Van Dyke says he turned down playing James Bond

I think it's wild that Dick Van Dyke was even considered for Bond, let alone after his, ahem, 'interesting' take on a British accent in Mary Poppins I mean, who would have thought that Bert from that movie would be the first non-Brit to play Bond? It's crazy how things work out, right?

But you know what's even crazier? The fact that Amazon is now producing James Bond movies . I'm not sure what the future holds for the franchise, but it'll be interesting to see how they adapt it to a new ownership model.

As for Van Dyke, I love his attitude about it all - he's still out there chasing roles and living life to the fullest He's an inspiration to anyone who's ever been told they're not good enough or that their accent isn't 'right'. 100 Rules for Living to 100 sounds like a great read, btw - I might have to check it out

OMG I'm still thinking about Dick Van Dyke being considered for James Bond ! Can you even imagine him trying to pull off that spy life with his signature goofy charm? And the accent thing is just too funny, he's got a point tho, more feedback from the crew would've been great . I love how optimistic he is about not retiring, we should all take cues from him! The Amazon takeover of Bond is wild though, it'll be interesting to see who lands the role next

I'm still trying to wrap my head around Dick Van Dyke being considered for James Bond . Like, can you imagine him as 007? It's almost too funny to think about . I mean, his accent in Mary Poppins was already a bit of a disaster, and he's not exactly known for his brooding spy vibes .

But you know what's even crazier? The fact that Bond has been handed over to Amazon now . I'm not sure if this is going to be a good thing or a bad thing for the franchise. On one hand, having a new perspective and more creative freedom could be awesome . On the other hand, will they still make it feel like "official" Bond? I don't know, man... I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens next .

Anyway, I'm glad Dick Van Dyke is still out there doing his thing and promoting his new book . He's definitely a legend in the acting world, and it's awesome that he's not ready to hang up his dancing shoes (yet) .

Ugh, can't even imagine Dick Van Dyke with that accent in Bond . Thinks he's funny, but I mean... who tries to pass off a bad accent as humor? Still, at least he's still acting and releasing books, so maybe it's not all bad news... kinda sorta
