Donald Trump awarded first FIFA 'peace prize' at football World Cup draw

US President Donald Trump has received the FIFA peace prize at a ceremony marking the 2026 World Cup draw, sparking controversy and debate over its establishment. The award is meant to recognize efforts that promote peace in the soccer world, but Trump's own actions have been widely criticized by many.

President Trump had long sought the Nobel Peace Prize, although he has yet to be awarded it. Despite this, FIFA President Gianni Infantino saw an opportunity to honor his ally and handed him the new prize during the World Cup draw event. However, some critics claim that Trump's role in promoting peace is tenuous at best.

Trump's decision to campaign for the Nobel Peace Prize drew widespread criticism from human rights advocates who pointed out that his efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza were widely seen as ineffective and even counterproductive. Nevertheless, Infantino made it clear that he believed Trump deserved recognition for his efforts to promote peace, setting the stage for a highly polarizing award ceremony.

The establishment of the FIFA peace prize has been met with skepticism by many, who question whether it serves as an authentic measure of commitment to promoting peace and human rights. The awarding of the prize to Trump highlights these concerns, raising questions about its legitimacy and the true motivations behind its creation.

🤔 I don't get it... they're trying to give a peace prize to someone who's been all over the world causing more conflict than harmony. I mean, I've seen some questionable decisions in my time, but this takes the cake. It's like they want to prove that you can be a major player on the global stage without actually doing any good. 🤷‍♂️ The Nobel Peace Prize is already pretty respected, so why do they need another one? And what's with this new FIFA prize anyway? Is it just a way for Trump to get more recognition? 🤑 I'm not sure about all this...

I'm not sure what to make of this whole thing... I mean, I get that FIFA wanted to honor someone for their efforts towards peace, but come on, it's Donald Trump we're talking about 🤔. He's got a pretty checkered past when it comes to promoting peace and human rights. And now they're giving him some kind of prize? It just seems like a bunch of PR spin to me. I'm not saying he didn't try, but his track record speaks for itself. Was this really the best choice? Shouldn't they be going to someone who's actually done something meaningful for peace and human rights? 🤷‍♂️ This whole thing just feels like a mess to me...

I don't get why FIFA President Gianni Infantino thought giving the peace prize to Donald Trump was a good idea 🤔... his actions on peace are super shady 😒... I mean, didn't human rights advocates already trash him for not doing enough in Gaza? 🙄 and now he's getting this award for trying to boost his rep? 🤑 it just doesn't add up, ya know? 🤷‍♂️

I dont think its a good idea to give a peace prize to someone like Trump, you feel? He's all about himself and doesnt really care about anyone else except his own interests. I mean, I've seen him tweet at people for saying bad things about him, thats not exactly the definition of peaceful, lol.

And honestly, I'm still trying to figure out what Trump has done that would actually earn someone a peace prize. Like, where's the evidence? He just sorta... says some stuff and everyone else does what he wants? That doesn't sound like much to me...

Its weird how FIFA thought this was a good idea, though. I guess they wanted to give their friends and allies some extra recognition or something. But at the end of the day, its not really about the prizes we get for doing things, its about whether those things are actually making a difference. And from what Ive seen, Trump's actions just seem like more of the same old noise... 🤔

🤔 I'm still trying to wrap my head around this FIFA peace prize thingy... 🌎 I mean, I know President Trump's got a lot of polarizing views, but giving him an award for promoting peace? It just feels like a PR stunt to me 😳. I've seen the way he's handled situations in the past, and it doesn't exactly scream "peace" to me... 🤷‍♂️ Like, remember that whole thing with Gaza? Not exactly a model of effective diplomacy, if you know what I mean 🙅‍♂️. And now they're giving him an award for it? It just feels like a mismatch to me... 🚫. I'm curious to see how people will react to this ceremony and whether it'll actually lead to any meaningful change or not 🤞

Ugh, I'm so done with FIFA's decision 🙄. Like, what even is the point of giving an award to Donald Trump? He's not exactly known for his commitment to peace and human rights... 😒 It feels like they just wanted to give him a pat on the back for being an ally or something. And let's be real, have you seen some of the things he's done as president? 🤦‍♂️ The whole thing just feels so... tainted.

I'm not even going to get into how ridiculous it is that they're trying to give out a peace prize 🤣. Like, what are the criteria for winning this thing again? "Oh, you've done some stuff to promote peace... in the soccer world"? Give me a break 😂. It's all just a big PR stunt at this point.

And honestly, I think it's kind of sad that they felt the need to even create this prize 🤕. Maybe there should be more focus on actual efforts to promote peace and human rights, rather than just handing out awards to whoever you feel like giving one to 👀.
