Driver dead after Amazon truck driver ran a red light in south Harris Co., according to HCSO

Amazon Truck Driver's Red Light Run Results in Fatal Crash in South Harris County

A harrowing incident unfolded on Friday night in south Harris County, where a tractor-trailer driven by an Amazon driver ran a red light and crashed into a sedan, resulting in the fatality of its occupant. According to authorities, the accident occurred at approximately 11 pm near the intersection of the feeder road off Highway 288 and the South Beltway.

Witnesses claimed that the Amazon driver stated he had a yellow light when he crossed the intersection; however, dash cam footage revealed the light was red throughout the duration of his crossing. The sedan's driver, described as a man in his late 20s or early 30s, failed to wear his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the impact.

Sadly, the male victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene and was pronounced deceased. Authorities reported that Amazon truck driver did not display signs of intoxication and has yet to be charged in connection with the incident.

As the investigation continues, officials have declined to comment further on potential charges or liability for the incident. In a related matter, ABC13 reached out to Amazon representatives but received no response at this time.

This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and prioritizing road safety. The Harris County Sheriff's Office is working diligently to gather more information about the crash, which is expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Ugh that's so sad ๐Ÿค•... but at least the police are investigating and trying to figure out what happened... I mean, we don't know all the details yet, so let's not jump to conclusions ๐Ÿ’ก... maybe the driver was having a bad night or something... but yeah, it's super important for everyone to follow the rules of the road ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ... and that's why they have those cameras and stuff... I just hope the family of the victim gets some answers soon โค๏ธ

Ugh I'm still shaking thinking about that accident ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ what if the driver had stopped at that red light it could've been anyone in the car ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’” and yeah it's not like Amazon can't be held accountable for their driver's mistakes ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ they gotta make sure those drivers are following the rules or at least monitoring them better. And poor guy, seatbelt on or off doesn't matter when you're going 60mph in a sedan... just heartbreaking ๐Ÿ˜”

This is just so messed up ๐Ÿคฏ! Can't believe some people think they can just speed through intersections without regard for others lives. Amazon needs to really look into this guy's driving record and make sure he's fit to drive their trucks. I mean, we all know how busy those drivers are, but that's no excuse to put lives at risk ๐Ÿšจ. And what's even more frustrating is the lack of response from Amazon reps right now. We need answers here! This tragedy could've been prevented if only they'd prioritized road safety ๐Ÿ™.

That truck driver's claim that he had a yellow light when he ran that red light is just not adding up ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‘Ž I mean, can you imagine if everyone said they had a yellow light when they went through a red one? Chaos would ensue! Anyway, the fact that dash cam footage showed otherwise suggests to me that maybe our Amazon driver friend wasn't as innocent as he claimed ๐Ÿ˜’. Either way, I do hope the authorities are able to figure out what happened and make sure justice is served. Road safety is super important, and we should all be following the rules of the road. No exceptions! ๐Ÿ’ก

๐Ÿšจ I'm shocked they didn't even test the truck driver for fatigue or sleep deprivation ๐Ÿคฏ considering how many hours these guys put in behind the wheel. Amazon's got a lot of explaining to do here... when are we gonna see some accountability? ๐Ÿ“Š Those dash cam vids are super telling, btw. Red light, no yellow light. Just a total disregard for traffic laws ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ˜ฑ just saw this news and my mind is blown why do people still not get it? a red light means STOP ๐Ÿ›‘๏ธ period. no exceptions. i mean i know accidents happen but this one is just crazy. the fact that the amazon driver said he had a yellow light when in fact there was no yellow light at all makes me wanna pull my hair out ๐Ÿ˜ฉ and what's with not wearing a seatbelt? safety first, people! ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’”

man, like, this accident is super tragic ๐Ÿค•, but i'm wondering why amazon isn't taking responsibility for their driver's actions? it's not like they're gonna say "oh, our guy was just having a bad day" or something ๐Ÿ˜’. if anyone else made that mistake, they'd be charged to the max and have their license revoked on the spot. so, what's good with amazon? are they trying to cover up something? ๐Ÿค‘

๐Ÿšจ red lights don't always mean you can cross ๐Ÿš— u should always assume its red if ur not 100% sure like the amazon driver here lol why didnt he stop at the red light tho? also why no response from amazon reps yet? ๐Ÿค” they gotta come clean about this. seems suspicious that he didnt get charged yet... authorities arent giving any info so we gotta stay vigilant

๐Ÿ˜• oh man this is just heartbreaking, another life lost due to a reckless driver... like what even is going through their head when they decide to run a red light? ๐Ÿšจ it's just so avoidable and senseless, especially with those new dash cam laws in place to catch these kinds of incidents. ๐Ÿ“น anyway, can't believe Amazon hasn't spoken up yet on this one, hope the driver cooperates fully with the investigation... still trying to wrap my head around how something like this happens every year in our roads ๐Ÿคฏ

Ugh, what's wrong with some people ๐Ÿ™„? Like, can't they just follow the rules of the road? I mean, come on, a red light = STOP! Don't be trying to make that yellow light magically appear or anything ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’ก. It's just basic common sense. And poor guy in the sedan... he didn't even have a chance to react because of the driver's reckless behavior ๐Ÿ˜”. How are we supposed to trust these big rigs on our roads if people like this are driving them? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ The authorities need to take action, ya know? Get that trucker held accountable and make sure they understand what happened ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

Wow ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’” this is so freakin scary... people need to be more careful when driving, especially with all those big rigs out there. Like, who needs Amazon more than human life? The fact that the driver said he had a yellow light but dash cam showed red is just crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. You feel for the guy who died, rest in peace ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ. This should be a major wake-up call for everyone on the road ๐Ÿ‘€

Oh man, like Amazon's got some 'Prime' customer service issues now ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ! Red light running? That's like me showing up late to a party without apologizing ๐Ÿ˜ณ. I guess that's what they mean by "delivering" bad news ๐Ÿšจ. Anyway, poor dude in the sedan, RIP ๐Ÿ™. It's just another reason to buckle up and keep those seatbelts tight ๐Ÿ›ฌ. And Amazon, you're still 'Prime' in my book if you can figure out who was at fault without charging them ๐Ÿค”!

๐Ÿ˜ฑ just can't believe this is what happens when we're all stuck in our own little world of Amazon Prime & never leave home... people are literally dying on the road because someone thought they could outrun a red light ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ฅ and no one's accountable yet? how much more proof do we need to make sure everyone wears their seatbelt?! ๐Ÿ™„ this is just so frustrating, we all know better but it seems like some ppl just don't care ๐Ÿ˜•

Ugh, can't believe this happened ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. All these companies with autonomous delivery services need to get their act together... or rather, human drivers do ๐Ÿ˜’. I mean, come on, a yellow light is one thing, but crossing against a red light? That's just reckless driving, no matter how many cameras and sensors you throw at it ๐Ÿšจ. And what really gets me is that Amazon is avoiding taking responsibility for this accident... like they're trying to spin it as the driver's fault or something ๐Ÿ˜’. Newsflash: with autonomous tech, it's always going to be a shared blame game until someone actually takes accountability ๐Ÿ’ธ.

๐Ÿ’” this is just awful, what can we do to ensure these truckers are holding their hands up when they run red lights? it's not like its 5 miles away or something... ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ˜ฑ how many more lives gotta be lost over a sec of a light change?! ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘€ also, what kinda safety measures is Amazon putting in place to prevent this kind of thing from happening again? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ“ฆ

ugh this is so senseless... think that guy was just minding his own biz driving home from work when BAM! some careless amazon driver comes speeding through a red light and takes his life ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ข what's wrong with people?! can't they see we're all human beings on these roads?! it's not like the guy was doing anything to deserve this ๐Ÿ’” I'm so angry but at the same time, hope the authorities get to the bottom of this and make sure justice is served... and Amazon really needs to do some soul searching about their drivers' safety protocols ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ช

That's so devastating ๐Ÿค• - what a terrible way for someone to go ๐Ÿ˜”. I mean, can you imagine being in that car and not even having your seatbelt on? It's just common sense ๐Ÿ™„. And poor guy, running that red light like it was still green must've been super scary for the other driver who got out of their own wrecked car โš ๏ธ.

It's kinda weird that Amazon's driver wasn't charged yet though ๐Ÿค”. Did they not see any signs of reckless driving or speeding? Like, did they know the guy was gonna run that red light? Anyway, hopefully they figure out what happened and take responsibility ๐Ÿ™. We need more people to be extra careful on the roads, especially at night when visibility is low ๐Ÿ’ก.

Omg, this is so sad ๐Ÿค•... I mean, can you even imagine being in that car? ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ˜ฑ A red light and no seatbelt = not a good combo ๐Ÿ˜…. But what's really bothering me is that Amazon driver said he had a yellow light when it was actually red... like, how did he know it was yellow if the dash cam shows otherwise? ๐Ÿค” That's some crazy decision-making right there ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ. Anyway, hope the sheriff's office finds out what happened and takes the necessary action โš ๏ธ. It's a harsh reminder to always follow the rules of the road ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ˜ฑ what's with these Amazon drivers thought they're above the law? Like, a red light is not a suggestion, it's like a big ol' X marked through the lane ๐Ÿ™„. And don't even get me started on how many times do we hear about truckers being reckless and then "not wearing signs of intoxication" ๐Ÿšฎ. It's just another thing to keep us wondering why some people think they're above human fallibility ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. How about we focus on getting the guy to take responsibility for his actions instead of playing dumb? ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ
