Man Arrested for Driving Drunk After Trying to Urinate into Beer Can While Behind Wheel
A 53-year-old Montana man with four prior impaired-driving convictions was arrested after his car crashed into another vehicle while he was trying to relieve himself by peeing into a beer can.
James Howard, who was driving with a suspended license, slammed into the back of a Volkswagen at an Interstate 90 exit ramp in Missoula on November 8. According to a probable cause affidavit, Howard told police that he had rear-ended the other car because he was trying to urinate into the Budweiser can while behind the wheel.
Howard was taken into custody after Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Van Kerkove spotted him holding a large beer can and noticed that his speech was slurred and his breath smelled of alcohol. A preliminary alcohol screening test showed that Howard had a blood alcohol concentration over three times the legal limit in Montana.
A check of Howard's criminal record revealed four prior impaired-driving convictions, including one earlier this year in North Dakota. He was arrested on charges of aggravated DUI, driving while his license was suspended or revoked, and careless driving.
