A high-ranking member of the House Oversight Committee has released a trove of emails between Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted pedophile, and Landon Thomas Jr., a financial journalist at the New York Times. In the exchanges, which span from January 2015 to December 2018, Thomas tipped off Epstein about other reporters' inquiries into his activities.
Thomas and Epstein had a close relationship that was described as "long-standing" by the journalist himself. The emails reveal that the pair exchanged tips on everything from Trump's behavior to global currencies. While neither of them reported out any information in their reporting, several times Thomas expressed willingness to pass along information about Trump with other journalists.
However, an investigation conducted by the New York Times revealed that Landon had a history of breaching journalistic ethics and, as such, was barred from working at The Times. Despite these claims, no attempt was made to cover up any potential connection between Epstein's activities and Thomas's reporting.
