lol, Erdogan's been playing dirty with the Kurds for years and now they're just gonna chill out and let him win? It's like he thinks they're just gonna sit back and let him get re-elected because they're all "oh, we didn't want to mess up the party". newsflash, HDP: playing it safe doesn't guarantee a win. And can we talk about how convenient it is that Kemal Kilicdaroglu gets to be the default candidate?
You know how I was thinking about the elections in turkey? i think it's gonna be really interesting who comes out on top... personally i think Erdogan is a super polarising figure, you know? he's been around for ages and everyone has got such strong feelings about him. but if Kemal Kilicdaroglu wins, i think that could be a game changer for the kurdish community in turkey
i mean, let's be real, Erdogan's not exactly known for being super progressive on Kurdish issues... he's always been pretty tough on them. so if someone else comes along and is more open to listening, that could make a big difference. but at the same time, you've got to consider the HDP's decision not to field a candidate... that's gotta be a calculated risk for them
the whole situation with turkey's Kurds and the upcoming election is super interesting . so the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party just decided not to run their own presidential candidate which is kinda genius on their part. it allows them to maintain some influence without being tied to a specific person, you know? but at the same time it's also a bit worrying because selahattin demirtas is still in prison and they're basically doing this to avoid getting 'tainted' by any potential connections to the PKK . Erdogan is definitely not happy about this and it could be a big blow for him, especially considering the Kurds make up like 15-20% of the population...
