'Europe, be afraid': Le Sommer adds more star power to Mexico's French revolution

Europe may be stirring from its slumber, but the real football revolution is happening 1,800 miles south of the Mediterranean - in Mexico's Liga MX Femenil.

The league, which boasts a top-tier squad of players including French icon Eugénie Le Sommer, has been making waves in the football world. Le Sommer, who joined Toluca this season after spending 15 years at Lyon, believes that Europe can be "afraid" of what's happening in Mexico.

"I think Europe can be afraid of what is happening here because they have the ability to attract top players," she said in an exclusive interview. "The league is really competitive, but it's not just about the players. We have two leagues in one season, more games, very dynamic, a lot of people in the stadiums."

Le Sommer, who has been playing in Mexico for over six months now, is thrilled with the experience so far. She credits the league's unique schedule, which sees teams play each other twice in two separate competitions, as one of its biggest advantages.

"I think in Europe when you are not in the Champions League you don't have enough games," she explained. "I had national team games, Champions League, cups, so I played three times a week for a lot of years, but if you don't have that you have 22 games a season. That's why I like it here."

But what really sets the Liga MX Femenil apart is its ability to attract top talent from around the world - including European stars like Le Sommer and her former Lyon teammate Amandine Henry.

"We have more fans in the stadium than in Europe," Le Sommer said, referring to Toluca's record-breaking attendance figures. "When it was Lyon vs PSG you might have 20,000 people, but the rest of the season it's not like what I have here. We have between 3,000 and 5,000 people for every game, it's crazy."

And with two French players in her team and another at the helm, Le Sommer says she's settling in quickly - both on and off the pitch.

"I'm someone who can adapt quite easily," she said. "I find it quite natural and it's why I've managed that quite well here. I enjoy every single game and I want to be better than last season when we lost in the quarter-finals, but I'm happy here."

For Le Sommer, the Liga MX Femenil represents a new chapter in her illustrious career - one that promises to be filled with excitement, challenges, and plenty of goals. As she looks to lead Toluca to success, Europe can't help but take notice.

🏟️💪 The way Le Sommer is talking about the Liga MX Femenil being more attractive to top European players than Europe itself is a game-changer. I mean, have you seen the crowds they're getting in Mexico? It's crazy! 🤯 3,000 to 5,000 people per game? That's like sold-out stadium after sold-out stadium back home. The financials must be huge too, and that's gonna draw more big names in... Mexico's gonna be a force to be reckoned with soon. 👊

Mexico's Liga MX Femenil is like the hidden gem I've been waiting for 🤫! I mean, Europe has been sleeping on it for too long. Eugénie Le Sommer says they're gonna be "afraid" of what's happening south of the Mediterranean, and honestly, I can see why 🤔. The league's got a killer schedule, top players from all over the world, and crazy attendance figures! It's like a dream come true for football fans everywhere.

And let's not forget about the dynamic, with two leagues in one season? That's some next-level stuff right there ⚽️! I'm loving how Le Sommer is adapting to the Mexican vibe so easily - she sounds like a total pro 🙌. Can't wait to see what Toluca brings to the table this season... it's gonna be a wild ride, for sure 🔥

I'm loving this whole thing about the Mexican league being the real deal 🤩. The fact that they're attracting top players like Eugénie Le Sommer is huge. I mean, we all know how competitive European leagues are, so for Mexico to be able to compete with that is impressive.

And what really gets me is the way they structure their season - two leagues in one, more games, and a ton of energy at every match. It's clear that they're prioritizing fan engagement and creating an electric atmosphere, which can only benefit the players. Plus, having a packed stadium like 3-5k for every game? That's just crazy 🤯.

I think what's most interesting is how Le Sommer is adjusting to this new environment. She talks about being able to adapt easily and finding it natural, which says a lot about the league's culture. And with two French players on her team and coaching staff, she's clearly not having any issues fitting in.

This whole thing feels like a revolution for women's football 🌟, and I'm here for it. Europe might be stirring from its slumber, but Mexico is taking center stage right now. Can't wait to see what the future holds! 😊
