Exclusive | Fauci involved in ‘massive’ COVID-19 origins cover-up, FDA chief Marty Makary tells ‘Pod Force One’

Former FDA Commissioner Marty Makary has made a stunning accusation against Dr. Anthony Fauci: that the renowned public health official orchestrated a "massive cover-up" about the origins of COVID-19 during his tenure as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease.

According to Makary, who has criticized Fauci's role in shaping the government's response to the pandemic, Fauci suppressed the theory that the virus leaked out of a research lab in Wuhan, China. This suppression was allegedly done despite being aware that many virologists had expressed doubts about the origin of the virus, suggesting it may have come from the Wuhan Lab.

Makary claims that Fauci and his old boss Dr. Francis Collins conspired to downplay the lab leak theory by commissioning a scientific paper that discredited the idea in February 2020. Just eight weeks later, at a White House press conference, Fauci stood alongside President Trump and cited this paper as evidence of the implausibility of the lab leak theory.

Makary points out that the authors who wrote this paper were subsequently awarded millions of dollars in funding from Fauci's agency. He believes that Fauci and Collins meticulously worked within their bureaucratic systems to water down Obama-era rules against gain-of-function research, which they then approved federal grants for.

The FDA Commissioner also charges that Fauci parsed his words to lie to Congress about gain-of-function research. Makary describes the alleged COVID origins cover-up as "an American tragedy," suggesting that many in the medical community failed to acknowledge or question Fauci's actions due to an allegiance to funding and a lack of transparency within the establishment.

Makary is not without controversy himself; he has been accused by some of having disagreements with how Fauci advised the public and government leaders during the pandemic. However, Makary argues that his concerns about the origins of COVID-19 are far more significant than any disagreements they may have had on other issues.
