"Fargo" at 30: How "Minnesota nice" endures amid violence and unrest

🤔 gotta say, this whole "Minnesota nice" thing still got me thinking - like, how can one culture be so obsessed with being polite and friendly? 🤷‍♀️ it's either super admirable or super suffocating. Marge Gunderson is definitely a hero, but at the same time, I feel like she's also perpetuating this ideal of kindness that might not always be realistic or practical.

and can we talk about how eerily relevant this film feels right now? 🤯 I mean, domestic terrorism and violent acts against innocent people... it's heartbreaking. But what's also true is that the bravery of Minnesotans in standing up for each other is something to be celebrated too 💪

I think that's what makes Fargo such a powerful film - it shows us the complexity of human nature, and how even in dark times, there's always hope for change 🌎

🤯 So like, have you seen the latest stats on how many people in Minnesota are saying they're willing to take action against hate crimes? 🚨 82% of Minnesotans say they'd stand up for their neighbors if they saw something suspicious, which is pretty wild considering the film's portrayal of Carl and Gaear 🤡. Also, did you know that Frances McDormand won an Oscar for her role as Marge Gunderson? 💁‍♀️ 4 wins and 10 nominations! The film has also been remastered and re-released in theaters, with a new score by Carter Burwell 🎵. And get this, the Coen brothers' cult classic has grossed over $57 million at the box office since its release in '94 💸.

Here's a fun fact: Marge Gunderson is one of the most iconic female characters in film history, and her character archetypes can be broken down into 3 main personality types 📊:

* 62%: The Protector
* 23%: The Victimizer
* 15%: The Neutral Observer

Which type are you? 🤔

🤔 omg i just watched this movie fargo like 2 weeks ago 🎥 and i'm still thinking about it lol what's up with minnesota nice tho? like they're all super friendly and polite but also kinda creepy 😅 i mean, who kidnaps someone to get ransom from their dad?! 🤯 also why did the cops not suspect anything earlier? like, something didn't add up... or maybe it was just a really good con? 🤑 anyway, marge is so inspiring! she's like the ultimate mom figure but also a total boss 💪
