First Thing: Venezuelans sent by Trump to El Salvador endured systematic torture, report finds

The Trump administration has been accused of wilful complicity in the torture and abuse of over 250 Venezuelans who were deported from the US to El Salvador. Human Rights Watch and Cristosal, a group investigating violations in Central America, have reported that conditions at El Salvador's Terrorism Confinement Center (Cecot) violate the UN's standard minimal rules for the treatment of prisoners.

The report alleges that detainees were subjected to "constant beatings" as well as other forms of ill treatment, including cases of sexual violence. The victims also experienced lengthy incommunicado detention and inadequate food supplies.

It has been claimed that just 3% of the deported Venezuelans had been convicted in the US of a violent crime, contradicting the administration's claim that they were involved with an organized crime gang.

The Trump administration's decision to deport the detainees to El Salvador has been widely criticized as a human rights abuse. The US government has been accused of turning a blind eye to the mistreatment and abuse of these individuals.

"Those who deny freedom to others, deny it to themselves." ๐Ÿšซ It's absolutely shocking that those deported from the US are being subjected to such cruel conditions in El Salvador. The idea that just 3% were involved with a violent crime is pretty clear evidence of a gross abuse of power and disregard for human rights. It's like they say: "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." ๐Ÿคฏ

I FEEL SO SAD FOR THOSE 250 VENEZUELANAS WHO WERE TREATED LIKE ANIMALS AT THAT CECOT CENTER IN EL SALVADOR!! IT'S JUST NOT RIGHT THAT THEY WERE SUBJECT TO CONSTANT BEATINGS AND OTHER FORM OF ILL TREATMENT, INCLUDING SEXUAL VIOLENCE. HOW CAN THE US GOVERNMENT TURN A BLIND EYE TO THIS KIND OF HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSE? IT'S LIKE THEY'RE FORGETTING THAT THESE PEOPLE ARE HUMAN BEINGS WITH FEELINGS AND DIGNITY!!! ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’”

๐Ÿค• this is so messed up, 250 people get deported to a place where they're basically treated like animals & its totally unacceptable... I mean come on, just because someone's from Venezuela doesn't make them involved in any crime... it's all about the politics & turning a blind eye to human rights isn't cool at all ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

omg, this is crazy!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ like, 250 ppl tortured and abused in el salvador? that's straight outta a horror movie! ๐ŸŽฅ i cant even imagine how scary it must be for those ppl to be held against their will with no food or water or anything. and the beatings?! constant beatings?! ๐Ÿ˜จ thats just sickening.

and whats with the 3% figure tho? like, that doesnt even make sense. if they had a good case against them then why deport? ๐Ÿค” i mean, cant we just let ppl go if we dont think they did anything wrong? its not like we gotta lock them up forever or somethin.

anywayz, this is def a major human rights fail and the us gov should be held accountable for it. ๐Ÿ‘Ž

I'm still trying to process how can't believe the US did this to people who were already in such a bad situation. I mean, 250 Venezuelans, many of them probably refugees from war or poverty, are sent back to El Salvador with no guarantees they'll be safe. The thought of those constant beatings and sexual violence is just... *sobs*. And it's not like the US had any right to detain them in the first place. I know some people might say 3% of them were guilty, but come on, that still doesn't justify sending them to a country with such poor human rights records. It feels like they just turned a blind eye and let the El Salvadoran government do whatever it wants with these people... ๐Ÿค•

I'm literally shook by this news ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ 250 people being tortured and abused just because they were deported back to their home country is insane. I mean, we know deporting people can be tough, but taking away basic human rights? That's just not right ๐Ÿ˜”. And to think that only 3% of them had even been convicted of a crime... it just seems like a bunch of folks being punished for a system that's already messed up ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ.

I'm also really frustrated with the US government for ignoring this and turning a blind eye to the abuse ๐Ÿ™„. It's one thing to enforce laws, but another thing entirely to condone human rights abuses ๐Ÿšซ. We need to be standing up for people who are vulnerable like that, not letting them fall through the cracks ๐Ÿ’”.

I'm gonna keep following this story and I hope there's gonna be some serious change soon ๐Ÿ˜…

๐Ÿค• This is just heartbreaking... I mean, I'm all for keeping our borders secure, but come on! ๐Ÿšซ 250 people tortured and abused? That's just not right. And to think they were deported because of some sketchy claims that only a tiny percentage of them even got convicted of something in the first place... it's like, hello! ๐Ÿ˜’ We need to hold our leaders accountable for this kind of stuff.

And can you believe El Salvador is supposed to be a safe haven? I mean, I've heard their country has some great culture and all that, but come on... ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ Not when we're talking about human rights here. It's just not right that these people are being treated like this.

You know what really gets me is that the US government is supposed to be a champion of human rights, and yet they turn a blind eye to something like this? ๐Ÿ˜• That's just not cool, guys. We need to speak out against this stuff and demand better for our fellow humans.

๐Ÿค• just saw this news about those 250 venezuelans being deported to el salvador by trump admin... like what kinda twisted logic says "we're gonna send people to a country with no resources to help them back home" instead of trying to fix the problem in us? ๐Ÿคฏ and now they're saying it's not even fair cuz only 3% were convicted of anything, which is still some kinda crime. can't believe trump's policies are hurting innocent ppl like that ๐Ÿ˜”

๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿšซ I'm not even going to get into the politics of this situation, it's just heartbreaking what's happening to these poor Venezuelans ๐Ÿค•. Deporting them to El Salvador without ensuring their safety is a total fail on the part of the US government ๐Ÿ‘Ž. I mean, have they thought about the consequences of sending people back to a country with questionable law enforcement and human rights records? ๐Ÿค” It's just not right that these people are being subjected to beatings, sexual violence, and poor living conditions... it's like they're being used as pawns in some twisted game ๐ŸŽฒ. And can we even get over the fact that only 3% of them were convicted of a crime in the US? That's just cherry-picking info ๐Ÿ“Š. The real issue here is the mistreatment and abuse, plain and simple ๐Ÿ’”. We need to hold our governments accountable for these human rights abuses and make sure they're doing everything they can to protect vulnerable people ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ.

๐Ÿ˜• I'm literally shook by this report... 250 Venezuelans, innocent people who were just trying to escape some hardship back home, are being treated like animals in El Salvador's Cecot facility. The US government's excuse that they're part of an organized crime gang is just a total joke, considering only 3% of them have even been convicted of a violent crime. It's like the administration is just looking for a convenient way to get rid of these people without actually caring about their human rights.

I mean, what's next? Deporting people with mental health issues or families with kids who need medical attention? The fact that conditions at Cecot are violating the UN's basic standards for prisoner treatment is just disgusting. It's like we're living in a bad 80s action movie where the bad guys get away with everything.

I think this whole thing is a total abuse of power, and it's up to us as citizens to speak out against it. We need to hold our governments accountable for their actions, especially when it comes to human rights. ๐Ÿšซ

can't believe what's happening over there ๐Ÿคฏ, 250+ people treated like dirt, constant beatings & sexual violence? that's just not right... and 3% convicted of violent crime is like, super low, can we really say they were involved with gangs to begin with? anyway, US gov needs to take responsibility for their actions, deporting ppl to a country where they're gonna get abused & mistreated? that's just inhumane ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

man this is crazy ๐Ÿคฏ, 3% of those deported guys were even convicted of anything in the first place... and now they're being sent back to El Salvador to face who knows what kinda treatment? it's just so messed up... the US government is supposed to be about human rights and all that, but instead they're sending people to a country where they'll probably get zero justice... and those conditions at Cecot sound like total hell ๐Ÿšซ, beatings and sexual violence? how can that even happen in 2025?!

I'm super concerned about this report ๐Ÿค•. It sounds like the Trump admin was really sloppy with their deportation deal and just dumped 250 Venezuelans into El Salvador without checking if they'd be safe ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. I mean, come on, only 3% were even convicted of a crime? That doesn't add up to all these reports of beatings and other abuse ๐Ÿšซ. It's so unfair to these people who are already struggling just to survive in this crazy world ๐Ÿ’”. We need to make sure our government is looking out for human rights, not just pushing people around ๐Ÿค. This report from Human Rights Watch and Cristosal needs to be taken super seriously, we can't ignore the suffering of others ๐Ÿ™.
