Premier League clubs are on high alert as Nottingham Forest have submitted a £35m bid for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta. The Frenchman, 28, has been linked with a move to the City Ground and Forest's intentions suggest they want to make him their top summer signing.

Meanwhile, Everton are also keen to sign Mateta, but they will only let him leave if they can bring in a replacement for £40m. This is according to reports from the Athletic, which state that Palace have refused to sell Mateta unless they receive an offer of at least this amount.

The interest in Mateta comes as another Premier League club makes a move for a key player. Chelsea are reportedly close to signing Liverpool left-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the England international linked to a £100m deal.

Alexander-Arnold has been a key player for Liverpool since joining the club from Charlton Athletic in 2015. He has won numerous honors, including four Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues.

In other transfer news, Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City's Nicolas Otamendi to replace Gabriel Magalhaes at the back. The Gunners have been linked with a deal worth around £30m for the Argentina international.

I think £40m is a bit steep for Mateta 🤑👀 especially considering he's not a super star player like Alexander-Arnold 💪. Palace should consider letting him go if they can't find a taker at that price, or maybe they're just trying to get the best deal out of it 😏. 🤔 y'know what's crazy? People always think that just 'cause someone's good at sports, they're gonna be good at life. but mateta's been linked with 2 top clubs now... does it mean he's better than everyone else out there? nope! 😂 what it means is that he's got skills & talent, and people want to work with him. the same goes for alexander-arnold, otamendi... these players are just trying to do their thing, make a living, & have fun. but let's not forget, life's about more than just scoring goals or winning games 😊. it's about relationships, hard work, being true 2 yerself... that's the real prize.

man this transfer window is gonna be lit ! 🤩 think forest making a move for mateta makes sense, they're rebuilding that team after the last season and he's exactly what they need. plus £35m is a steal for a player of his caliber 😂 everton wanting him but only if they get another big signing, fair play to them for being smart about it. Alexander-Arnold going to chelsea would be a huge loss for liverpool, they really need someone like that at left-back ⚽️ and otamendi to arsenal is an interesting move, not sure how he'd fit in with arteta's plans though 🤔
