Chelsea Set to Make £44m Bid for Rennes' Young Centre-Back Jérémy Jacquet
In a move that could bolster their defense, Chelsea are reportedly set to make a significant bid for 20-year-old centre-back Jérémy Jacquet from Ligue 1 club Rennes. The Blues have been on the hunt for a new defender to replace injured Levi Colwill and Tosin Adarabioyo, and it seems they've found an attractive target in the young Frenchman.
The fee being discussed is said to be around £44m, although Chelsea may be willing to meet or exceed that to secure Jacquet's services. In other news, Burnley could be about to offer a lifeline to out-of-favour West Ham midfielder James Ward-Prowse. With Josh Cullen out of action, Scott Parker needs some fresh legs in midfield, and Ward-Prowse would certainly fit the bill.
