I'm not surprised by this ruling at all! I mean, using press events for personal attacks is just low. And those whistles? come on, that was some serious overreach. It's one thing to address an issue in a respectful manner, but another to use city resources to try and intimidate or harass someone.
I think this ruling is a good reminder for all of us (politicians included) that we have to be held accountable for our actions. It's not just about personal politics, it's about doing what's right for the people who elected you in the first place. And if someone like Adams can't even manage to do that, then maybe they shouldn't be in a position of power.
omg what a classic case of misuse of power $4k fine is even better than nothing i guess but still it's kinda harsh considering he was trying to make a point about women's safety lol why did ppl have to get whistled at? anyway, gotta give him props for owning up to it and settling the fine that's more than some people would do hopefully this sets an example for others in power to keep it classy
I mean come on, $4k fine seems kinda low for trying to strong-arm reporters with whistles ! You'd think the board would want to send a stronger message against using public resources for dirty tricks. It's like they're just letting Eric Adams off the hook because he's a former mayor and his friends are still in power . What really gets me is that he's claiming it was all about making women feel safe, but let's be real, that's just not how you do it . Can't we have some accountability around here? Like, if he did it to Cuomo, would he have done the same to a female reporter from The Post or something? It raises so many questions...
I'm so confused about this whole thing ... I mean, I get that politicians have to deal with rivalries and all that, but using press events for petty attacks? That's just not right . And those whistles? Um, what were they even supposed to do? It sounds like a cheap trick to intimidate journalists . I don't think it's cool that former Mayor Eric Adams thought he could get away with this kinda behavior ... and now he's gotta shell out $4,000 as a fine . Can we please just expect more from our elected officials?
OMG , $4k is like, soooo steep for someone who's already out of office! I mean, I get it, using city resources for political gain ain't cool, but whistles? Really? It sounds like a low-key attempt to stir up drama and sabotage his rival. And the fact that he's trying to spin it as a way to make women feel safer? C'mon Eric, be real . The whole thing just reeks of desperation & poor judgement. It's like, if you want to attack your opponent, do it in the ring, not on some press conference with whistles ! This ruling is a big yikes for accountability, but honestly, it's about time someone called him out!
