I think this is a good move for France 
. I mean, they gotta be prepared for anything that happens on their turf, right? And with the Russia threat being what it is, it's only logical to get more young people involved in defense. But at the same time, €800 a month might not be enough to cover all the living costs, you know? 
Still, I guess it's better than nothing and could help them build up their military faster. The 75% discount on rail travel is a nice touch too
