Frank earns breathing space after rolling Tottenham dice – could Europe shield him from sack?

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has breathed new life into his beleaguered career after pulling off an audacious surprise in their Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund. The Tottenham boss had been left reeling from a disastrous 4-1 defeat to West Ham on Saturday, and with his job hanging precariously in the balance, Frank knew he had to take a bold gamble.

In a move that would have raised eyebrows even among the most adventurous of managers, Frank opted for a 3-4-2-1 formation, pitting Djed Spence against Dortmund's left flank. The gamble was not without its risks, as many assumed it was a one-and-done situation, with the likelihood of another crushing defeat hanging over his head like a sword of Damocles.

However, Frank's decision to stick with this unorthodox setup proved to be inspired, as Tottenham dominated possession and controlled the tempo of the game. The visitors' attacking quartet, led by Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons in midfield, tore into Dortmund's defense, leaving them reeling at every turn.

While it was still a 2-0 victory for Spurs, the manner of the win lent an air of confidence to Frank's team, and hinted that they were on the cusp of something special. With his team playing with tempo and incision, it was clear that Tottenham had finally found a formula to unlock their opponents.

This surprise win may prove to be Frank's lifeline, as he navigates the treacherous waters of Spurs' Champions League campaign. While the road ahead is still fraught with peril, Europe could yet shield him from the sack, allowing him to regroup and reassess his team's fortunes before facing the daunting task of trying to outdo their Premier League counterparts in the months that follow.

For Frank, this win represents a testament to his unorthodox approach and willingness to take calculated risks. The Spurs boss has shown bravery in sticking with his guns, even when the odds were stacked against him. And it could just be enough to give him another chance to prove himself as Tottenham's manager – at least until mid-March, when the next round of Champions League ties come around.

I'm loving this underdog story 🤩🏆 Thomas Frank has got some serious guts to stick with that 3-4-2-1 formation and it really paid off! The way Tottenham dominated possession and tore into Dortmund's defense was insane 💥 I mean, we've seen some crazy comebacks in sports before, but this one is up there 😲 It's like Frank knew exactly what he needed to do to shake things up and get his team back on track. And let's be real, 2-0 might not be the most convincing scoreline, but it's a win nonetheless 🎉 This shows that Frank isn't afraid to think outside the box (or in this case, try out a weird formation 😂) and it's refreshing to see. Can't wait to see how Spurs continue their Champions League campaign!

I'm loving how Tottenham's season is finally turning around 🔄💪 Thomas Frank's unorthodox tactics might've raised some eyebrows, but it seems they paid off in a big way! It's like he took a deep breath and said "you know what? I trust my team and this system" 💨 And you know what? It worked! The 3-4-2-1 formation was a risk, but it looked so smooth out there ⚽️ Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons were on fire 🔥. This win gives Frank a second chance to prove himself, and I'm all for giving him that 💪

🙌 I'm loving this turn of events for Spurs! Frank's willingness to take risks and stick with his guns is what sets him apart from other managers, and it paid off in a big way tonight 🚀. The 3-4-2-1 formation was pure genius, and it's clear that Tottenham finally have a system that clicks 🔁. It's about time they started playing to their strengths and dominating games like this 💪. This win is definitely Frank's lifeline, but I think he deserves another chance to prove himself – at least until mid-March 🕰️. Bring on the next round of Champions League ties! 😄

I gotta say, this Tottenham Hotspur team is like a complex algorithm that Frank has finally cracked 🤯. He went with that 3-4-2-1 formation and it was pure genius 💡. I mean, people thought he was crazy for putting Djed Spence against Dortmund's left flank, but it paid off in the end 🙌.

What really impressed me is how confident Frank must feel to stick with a setup that's so unorthodox. It shows he trusts his team and his instincts, which is music to my ears 🎵. And let's be real, 2-0 is still an awesome result 💪.

This win could indeed be Frank's lifeline, but it's also a testament to the team's growth and potential 🔥. They've finally found that formula to unlock their opponents, and if they can maintain this level of tempo and incision, they might just do something special this season 📈.

I'm loving the narrative around Frank's unorthodox approach, too. He's a manager who's not afraid to take calculated risks, and that's something we should all be celebrating 🎉. So here's hoping Europe can give him another chance to shine before mid-March – I think he's got this 💫!

omg u no this is like total madness lol ! thomas frank pulled off this insane 3-4-2-1 formation and it worked!! i was thinking he was toast after that west ham loss but nope, spurs came out on top with a 2-0 victory 🤩👏 espeshally the midfield duo of wilson odobert & xavi simons were TO. MUCH 🔥 they tore into Dortmund's defense and it was like a whole diff game lol. now frank's team is looking all confident and i think he might just be able to ride out this season after all 💪🏽

lol what a turn around for spurs 🤯 i was literally doubting frank's future last week after that hammering from west ham 😅 but this win is proof he's got a plan & it's working 🔥 3-4-2-1 formation? yeah it sounds crazy but it paid off big time. the way they dominated possession & controlled the tempo of the game was so impressive 🤩 now frank's team looks like a force to be reckoned with in europe 👊 hope this momentum carries over into their premier league games 💪

I mean... Frank's got balls, I gotta respect that 😂. I was saying in my last comment about Spurs' struggles that they needed a fresh approach and this win definitely shows it 💡. The 3-4-2-1 formation was a long shot but it paid off! And let's be real, Dortmund aren't the strongest side, so it's not like Frank just beat up on a weaker opponent... although, you have to admit, Spurs did look pretty slick out there 🔥. I'm not gonna lie, I was worried when I saw the starting lineup 🤔, but it all worked out in the end! Now we'll see if this new found confidence translates into the Premier League... fingers crossed for Spurs 😅

I mean, I've seen some crazy stuff in football before, but 3-4-2-1 against Dortmund? That's like putting all your eggs in one basket...literally 😂. But seriously, Frank pulled off a masterclass and it's clear he's got the chops to be a top manager. The way Tottenham controlled possession and tormented Dortmund's defense was pure magic ⚽️.

It's interesting that he took on so much risk with this formation, but I guess you could say it was either all in or nothing 🤯. Either way, it paid off and now Frank gets to ride the momentum until mid-March. Not a bad gig, if you ask me 😏.

🤔 I'm loving the way Frank stuck to his guns and went for that crazy 3-4-2-1 formation! It was a high-risk move, but it totally paid off 💥. The tempo of the game was so much better with Djed Spence on the left flank - it's clear he's got some serious skills 🤸‍♂️. Tottenham finally looked like they were playing with confidence and unity, which is a massive boost for Frank and the team 🌟. It's gonna be interesting to see if this momentum carries over into their next games 💪. Maybe Frank won't have to worry about getting the sack after all 😅. Can't wait to see how he builds on this win! 👏

I gotta say, that Spurs win has got me thinking 🤔. It's crazy how one move can turn everything around for a team and their manager. Frank is either a genius or completely nuts 😂, but in this case, it seems to have paid off big time.

You know, I was watching the game with my grandkids, and they were all cheering for Spurs, even though we didn't know if Frank would be keeping his job 🤷‍♂️. It's amazing how much pressure can come down on someone in their job, but it looks like Frank took that challenge head-on.

Now, I'm not saying it was a guarantee of success or anything, but it's clear that Tottenham had a plan and stuck to it. And the fact that they were able to control possession and dominate the game is just impressive 🏀.

For Frank, this win must be a huge confidence booster 💪. It shows that he's not afraid to take risks and try new things, even if it means going against the grain. And who knows? Maybe this will be the start of something special for Tottenham in the Champions League. Fingers crossed 🤞!

the whole thing about frank going 3-4-2-1 is kinda weird 🤔 i mean dont get me wrong, it worked out this time but what if borussia dornt had kept a clean sheet?? or spurs have another 5 star midfielder who can do more than just "tore into" the defence lol idk man but sometimes less of a risk might be better? btw its all good for frank though!

omg i'm freaking out over this 3-4-2-1 formation 🤯 espically how they put Djed Spence on that left flank it was like a masterstroke! 😎 frank must be genius or just completely insane lol either way spurs are on the rise and europa league Shield could just save his job 👏

I don't know how long I can keep buying into all this hype about AI assistants 🤖. I mean, what's the point of having a smart speaker that can do everything except make me a decent cup of coffee? It just seems like a way for companies to sell us more stuff and get our personal data 📊. And don't even get me started on those so-called "smart homes" – it's just a bunch of gadgets collecting dust in my living room 🏠. I'm happy with my old-school phone and laptop, thank you very much! 👍

omg u guys idk wut's gonna happen 2 thomas frank nxt 🤯 he literally took a huge risk & it paid off!! i'm literally buzzing right now 😆 the 3-4-2-1 formation was SO random but like it actually worked?? i feel like he's finally got his mojo back after that west ham debacle 😩 anyway i'm low-key hoping spurs make a deep run in the champions league this season 🤞 fingers crossed for frank & the lads 👍

I'm loving how Spurs' manager Thomas Frank is giving new life to his career! 🙌 The 3-4-2-1 formation was a total wild card move, but it totally paid off! 💥 I mean, who would've thought that Djed Spence taking on Dortmund's left flank would be the key to their win? 😂 It just goes to show that sometimes you gotta think outside the box (or in this case, the football pitch) to get ahead. And let's be real, it's about time Frank proved his doubters wrong - he's been through some tough times with West Ham and all! 🤕 But now, with this win under his belt, I'm keeping an eye on him - could we see a Spurs resurgence? 🎉

idk what the fuss is about 🤔 i mean frank pulled off a decent win but lets not get too carried away here...the opposition was borussia Dortmund who are always up for an easy game lol. and 2-0 is definitely more than their 4-1 beating by west ham so yeah, frank did alright 🙃 still got to prove himself over the rest of the season though

🤔 this 3-4-2-1 formation is some crazy stuff 🤯 i mean spence vs dornt's left flank was a bold move and it paid off big time 💥 now we'll see if frank can keep this momentum going 🔥
