French Minister Under Fire for Playboy Cover Amid Pension Reform Crisis.

Marlene Schiappa, France's first-ever Gender Equality Minister, has been criticized by members of her own party after appearing on the front cover of Playboy magazine. The 12-page interview accompanying her appearance focused on women's and LGBT rights. In a move that has drawn criticism from Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, Schiappa wore a white dress for the photo shoot.

Schiappa is known for being a long-time advocate of women's rights, having spearheaded France's new sexual harassment law which allows on-the-spot fines to be issued to men who catcall or harass women in public places. Her stance on women's rights has earned her praise from some quarters, but also criticism from those within her own party.

The appearance by Schiappa has drawn parallels with French President Emmanuel Macron's recent decision to give an interview to children's magazine Pif Gadget. Jean Luc Mélenchon, a French politician who came third in the 2022 presidential elections, criticized both Schiappa and Macron for their respective appearances, stating that it "shows the problem is the opposition".

Schiappa responded to her critics with a tweet saying she would continue to defend women's rights. French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin defended Schiappa as a "woman of character" during an interview on Sunday.

I feel like this is a major case of déjà vu, you know? Like, remember when everyone was all up in arms about Sharon Stone or Pamela Anderson appearing on Playboy back in the day? Now it's Marlene Schiappa, and people are going crazy all over again. I mean, what's changed? It just seems like the same old criticism to me. And can we talk about how weird it is that this is even a thing? Like, isn't she trying to make a point about women's rights or something? 🤷‍♀️

And poor Schiappa, getting roasted by her own party and the Prime Minister too... I feel bad for her. She seems like a great gal who just wants to get the job done. 😔 The thing is, sometimes you gotta do what it takes to make an impact, even if that means going against the status quo. I kinda respect that about her. 💁‍♀️

Ugh, can you believe what's going on in France right now? 😩 I mean, I'm all for Marlene Schiappa being out and proud about her feminism, but Playboy cover? It just seems so... retro. Reminds me of the old days when women were objectified like that. And I know she was talking about important issues, but still... 😔

And don't even get me started on the criticism from Prime Minister Borne and Jean Luc Mélenchon. I mean, come on guys, can't you just support a woman's right to express herself? It's 2025, not 1995! 🙄

But at the same time, I'm glad Schiappa is standing up for what she believes in. She's an inspiration to so many young women and girls out there. Maybe we should all take a page from her book and be more confident about ourselves... 💁‍♀️

🤔 so they're mad at her for being a strong advocate for women's rights and then getting on the cover of playboy to further that cause... sounds like a legit way to me 🤑 but what's with all these double standards? schiappa is still pro women's rights, why can't she express herself however she wants? 🤷‍♀️ shouldn't macron be more concerned about the pension reform crisis than calling out her appearance 😒 and now it seems like jean luc mélenchon is just mad 'cause he came third in the elections... coincidence or what? 🤔

I don't know if I'm for or against this, lol... like, Marlene Schiappa is a total feminist icon and all, but come on, Playboy? 🤷‍♀️ It's like, one day she's fighting for women's rights and the next she's posing in a sexy magazine, you feel me?

I think it's kinda cool that she spoke up about women's rights, but at the same time, I'm also like, what is this whole thing even about? Is it about her trying to prove something or just being a rebel? 🤔 And honestly, that white dress is kinda iconic... but also super provocative. 😎

I mean, Jean Luc Mélenchon's got a point, though - if the opposition can't even get their act together, then what's the problem? But at the same time, Schiappa's not doing anything wrong by speaking up and using her platform to make a statement... 🤷‍♀️

OMG, like I'm seeing this everywhere 🤯! So, Marlene Schiappa is getting roasted for being on the cover of Playboy and it's just so... expected? I mean, she's all about women's rights and equality, but come on, France's a country with so much history and culture... wouldn't you think they'd have better things to do than judge her based on a magazine cover? 🤷‍♀️ But seriously, can we talk about how surreal it is that Jean Luc Mélenchon is trashing both Schiappa and Macron for this? Like, what's next? Criticizing the president for playing with his kids? 😂 Anyway, I think Schiappa handled it pretty coolly on Twitter and Gérald Darmanin did a good job defending her as well... but can we just focus on getting those pension reforms sorted out already? 🤦‍♀️💸

I mean, come on... 🤦‍♀️ Marlene Schiappa is like the ultimate example of 'do as I say, not as I do' 😒 I get it, she's trying to make a point about women's rights and all that, but wearing that white dress for Playboy just screams 'I'm a hypocrite' 🙅‍♀️. And don't even get me started on the 12-page interview... how much of her actual platform is in there? 🤔 It feels like she's trying to virtue signal rather than actually making real changes happen. 😐 And what's up with the criticism from Prime Minister Borne? Shouldn't she be supporting her own party member instead of piling on? 🤷‍♀️

I THINK IT'S PRETTY WEIRD THAT SCHIAPPA IS GETTING CRITICIZED FOR APPEARING ON THE COVER OF PLAYBOY MAGAZINE, ESPECIALLY SINCE SHE'S SUCH A BIG ADVOCATE FOR WOMEN'S RIGHTS!!! 😂 I MEAN, WHO DOESN'T LOVE A GOOD FEMINIST ICON? 🤷‍♀️ AND IT'S NOT LIKE SHE DID ANYTHING WRONG OR OUT OF CHARACTER FOR HERSELF. SHE'S BEEN FIGHTING FOR CHANGE AND NOW PEOPLE ARE CALLING HER OUT FOR BEING HUMAN? 🙄 IT JUST SEEMS LIKE A REALLY TOUGH SITUATION FOR HER, ESPECIALLY WITH THE PENSION REFORM CRISIS GOING ON IN FRANCE RIGHT NOW. 🤦‍♀️ I GUESS WE'LL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE HOW THIS ALL PLAYS OUT, BUT FOR NOW, I'M JUST HERE FOR SCHIAPPA'S STRONG STATEMENT ON TWITTER!!! 💁‍♀️

I'm not sure how I feel about this... Marlene Schiappa is all about fighting for equality, but now she's got some folks in her own party calling out her fashion sense . Like, come on guys, it's just a magazine cover 🤷‍♀️. And can we please focus on the fact that she's actually making a difference with those laws she's pushing? I mean, who doesn't love an on-the-spot fine for catcalling ? 😂 But seriously, what's next? Are they gonna critique her outfit at a UN meeting too? 🤣

I mean, I feel like this whole thing is just so... complicated 🤷‍♂️. On one hand, Marlene Schiappa is literally fighting for women's rights and all that jazz, which is awesome 💪. But then she goes and poses for Playboy magazine, and suddenly everyone's talking about it like it's a huge scandal 😒. I get it, some people might be weirded out by the whole thing, but come on, it's just a photo shoot, right? 🤷‍♂️

And then you've got all these politicians weighing in, like Jean Luc Mélenchon, who's basically saying that Schiappa and Macron are both out of touch or something 😒. But at the same time, I'm like, what's the real issue here? Is it really about Schiappa posing for Playboy, or is it just a bunch of guys trying to stir up drama 🤔?

I guess what I'm saying is that Schiappa should be able to do her own thing and not have to worry about everyone else's opinions on it 😒. She's out there fighting for the rights of women and marginalized communities, so can't we just give her some respect? 💖

I mean, come on... 🤷‍♀️ Marlene Schiappa gets roasted by her own party for posing for Playboy? It's like, she's fighting for women's rights and then she gets a spread in the naughty mag - it's just weird. I get that people have different opinions about this stuff, but can't they just let her be? 💁‍♀️ She's already making waves with the pension reform crisis, does she really need this drama too? 🤦‍♂️ And what's up with Macron and Schiappa going head-to-head over this? Can't they focus on something more important than who can be seen in a magazine? 😒 Anyway, I hope Schiappa can just shake it off and keep pushing for those women's rights... we need more strong female voices like her 🙌.
