Fundraiser planned for displaced Leland House residents as tenants wait for answers - Detroit Metro Times

i think its actually better if the leland house is sold through an online auction 🤔♂️... i mean, who needs some old building that's just causing headaches anyway? the city should just cut its losses and let the market decide what to do with it instead of trying to find a buyer. and honestly, 10-20 bucks is way too much for most people to be donating... i'm not saying anyone shouldn't help out, but come on, $10 to dance for some cause? that's just asking for trouble.

🤔 I'm so sick of these landlords being all shady about their tenants' futures 🤑 Like what's up with that online auction, tho? It's just gonna push people around more and make it even harder for them to get back on their feet 💸 The fact that the city is covering the Red Roof Inn costs is cool, but we need actual solutions here, not just handouts 🙄 And can't these artists who live in these buildings just start saving up or something? It's 2012, people! Get a financial plan together 😒

man this is so sad 🤕 what's going on with that building? it's like they're just gonna leave these ppl high & dry... i mean, 27 ppl displaced already, now they gotta worry about basic stuff like groceries & clothes... and nobody knows if the building's even gonna get sold 😬 the city should at least try to keep the residents safe. ugh, this whole situation is just so frustrating 🤯

I'm telling ya, I don't know if I agree with doing this fundraiser 🤔... on one hand, it's super nice that people are coming together to support these displaced residents 😊. They're literally stuck in limbo, not knowing what's gonna happen next, and that's no good. But at the same time, I'm kinda worried about how all this money is being handled 🤑... like, what if some of it gets misallocated or something? And isn't there already a GoFundMe campaign going on for another part of the building? That does make me think that some of these funds might be getting duplicated 💸. But then again, maybe that's just good PR to get more people involved and donating 🎉... I don't know, man, it all feels kinda messy to me 🤷‍♂️.

You know how some places just feel like home? Like you've got a connection with the people and the space that's hard to explain? 🏠 That's what it sounds like for the Leland House residents who have been displaced due to an electrical failure. It's not just about finding a new place to live, it's about feeling like a part of the community. The fact that they're trying to raise funds at the Lager House and organize events to show solidarity is really beautiful. I wish more people could understand how difficult this must be for them, especially with all the uncertainty surrounding the building's future. 💕
