Gaza: Israeli strike kills five, including two children, says civil defence agency

Five people, including two children aged eight and 10, were killed in a Palestinian territory strike by Israeli forces on Wednesday. The Gaza Civil Defence Agency reported that the strike occurred near the Kuwaiti field hospital in Khan Younis, where it targeted a shelter camp.

According to Mahmud Bassal, spokesperson for the civil defence agency, five citizens lost their lives as a result of the missile strike, with others injured, some seriously. The Israeli military claimed that they had struck a Hamas terrorist in southern Gaza after clashing with Palestinian militants in the area, which left five soldiers wounded.

However, a fragile US-brokered ceasefire agreement has largely halted fighting between Israel and Hamas since its implementation on October 10. Despite this, both sides have accused each other of violating the terms.

The Israeli military said that during an operation in eastern Rafah, soldiers encountered several militants from an underground terrorist infrastructure, resulting in injuries to four combat soldiers, including one severely injured soldier. The soldiers were evacuated to hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a security source in Gaza reported heavy artillery shelling and gunfire from warplanes east of Rafah city. The Office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hamas of violating the ceasefire agreement.

UN Secretary-General Antรณnio Guterres expressed concerns that there was "something fundamentally wrong" with Israel's military operation in the Gaza Strip, suggesting that war crimes may have been committed.

๐Ÿค• just saw the news about all those innocent kids getting killed in a Palestinian territory strike by Israeli forces... five lives lost, including two 8 and 10-year-olds ๐Ÿ™. It's so heartbreaking to think about. The ceasefire agreement was supposed to be holding, but it looks like both sides are still at it. I mean, can't we just find some way to coexist peacefully? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

and have you seen the layout of that news article? it's all over the place ๐Ÿ˜‚. one minute they're talking about the strike, the next they're into some US-brokered ceasefire agreement... get a theme, guys! ๐Ÿ“š organize your content, prioritize the most important info! ๐Ÿ“ฐ

I'm so worried about what's going on in the Middle East ๐Ÿค•. It feels like we're back to the same cycle of violence and retaliation that we've seen for years. I remember watching the news with my parents when I was a kid, and it seemed like every time there was a conflict, innocent civilians got caught in the crossfire. ๐Ÿ™

I don't know what's going on with these ceasefire agreements โ€“ they seem to come and go without any real resolution. And it's always the same: one side accuses the other of breaking the rules, but who's really accountable? The world just seems so stuck. ๐Ÿ˜” I just wish we could find a way to bring people together and resolve their differences peacefully. It feels like that's what we've been trying to do for decades, but it never seems to stick... ๐Ÿคท

Can we pls just stop the cycle of violence already? ๐Ÿ™„ 5 innocent kids dead? That's not even the point, it's the fact that these conflicts never seem to end. Like, how many times have we seen this happen? Israel's got its reasons, but does anyone else ever think about the civilians caught in the middle? And what's with all these ceasefire agreements? We know they're not always respected... ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

man I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole situation... it feels like we're stuck in some sort of never-ending cycle ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, can't we just talk things out like we used to? remember when the world was all about peace and love? ๐Ÿ’” those were the days. now it's like everything is so divided and hostile.

and what's with all these ceasefire agreements? they're like something out of a bad game of chess ๐ŸŽฒ. everyone's just playing this game of cat and mouse, waiting for someone to slip up so they can pounce. but at what cost? five innocent lives lost... it's just heartbreaking ๐Ÿ˜”.

and have you seen the videos of that Kuwaiti field hospital? it's like something out of a war zone ๐ŸŒช๏ธ. i mean, i know we're trying to protect our people and all, but is this really the best way to do it? can't we find a better way to resolve our differences? ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿ˜” This is so sad what happened to those 5 innocent people ๐Ÿค• especially the kids, it's just heartbreaking ๐Ÿ˜ญ. But at least we gotta think about this from a different angle... I mean, we're still alive and safe over here ๐Ÿ™. And let's not forget that there are efforts being made for peace like the fragile ceasefire agreement ๐Ÿคž. We should keep holding onto hope that things will get better soon ๐Ÿ’•. It's crazy how even amidst all this violence, we can find ways to talk about it and try to make a difference ๐Ÿ’ฌ. I'm just glad that some people are speaking up, like UN Secretary-General Antรณnio Guterres, who's not afraid to share his concerns ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ. We need more voices like him to help bring us closer to peace โœจ. Let's keep spreading love and positivity, even in the darkest of times โค๏ธ.

man this is getting too crazy ๐Ÿคฏ๐ŸŒŽ i dont think either side can claim theyre not doing something stupid its like both israel and hamas are just playing chicken over there and its a lot of innocent ppl getting hurt in the crossfire ugh ๐Ÿค• 5 kids died yesterday that cant be okay what were those 2 kids even supposed to do they just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?! ๐Ÿ’” i wish the world could just chill out for a sec and try to find some middle ground here theres gotta be a way to resolve this without all the violence ๐Ÿคž

๐Ÿšจ What's going on here?! First you got some Israeli 'operation' and BAM! 5 civilians are dead! I mean, I know conflict zones can be messy but come on! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ And then they're saying it was Hamas terrorists, but what about all the kids caught in the crossfire? That's just heartbreaking. ๐Ÿค•

And now we got this UN guy saying war crimes might've happened... ๐Ÿš” that's some serious stuff. But at the same time, I feel like both sides are just using these ceasefire agreements as a way to avoid real accountability. It's all just a bunch of smoke and mirrors, if you ask me. ๐Ÿ”ฎ

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ come on, can't both sides just chill? five innocent lives lost and they're already accusing each other of breaking rules ๐Ÿ™„. ceasefire agreement is still holding but it feels like no one's really listening to the others. what's going on here? is it too much for everyone involved? ๐Ÿคฏ the UN secretary-general says there might be war crimes, that's a big deal... can't we just focus on making sure everyone gets along? ๐Ÿ˜’ and why do these things always have to happen during holidays or times of peace? ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ it's like the world is one big waiting game for something to go wrong ๐Ÿ’”

I donโ€™t usually comment but I feel so sorry for those 5 innocent kids who lost their lives ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ’”. Itโ€™s like, one minute theyโ€™re playing or hanging out with friends and the next thing you know, a missile is coming down from the sky and it's all over ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. Can we just imagine how scared their families must be right now? And what about those soldiers who got hurt during the "operation"? I donโ€™t think we have all the facts here but it seems like both sides are trying to spin things to suit themselves ๐Ÿค”.

I mean, I get why there needs to be a peaceful solution and all that but can't we just talk this out instead of resorting to violence? It's always the same, you know? People get hurt, more people die... it's like, what are we even doing here? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ I donโ€™t usually comment but I guess some things need saying ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ.

I'm still trying to understand what's going on ๐Ÿค”... Like, isn't a ceasefire supposed to mean everyone just calms down and stops fighting? But it sounds like both sides are accusing each other of stuff anyway, which is really frustrating ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. And then the UN Secretary-General is saying that war crimes might have been committed - but who decides what's okay or not in all this violence? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ It feels like there's just so much complexity and nuance to these conflicts, it's hard to know where to start... Does anyone else feel like we're just being fed a lot of information that doesn't add up? ๐Ÿ“Š

๐Ÿค• this is getting so messed up I don't know how many more innocent lives have to get lost... 8 and 10 year olds killed? that's just not right ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ it's like the grown ups can't even keep their cool anymore, always fighting and blaming each other... a ceasefire should mean something, you know? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ I don't care about the politics or who's supposed to be doing what, I just want to see some peace in that region. and what's with all these "war crimes" accusations? can we at least try to figure out what's really going on before we start throwing around big words like that? ๐Ÿค”

omg what a terrible day ๐Ÿค• i cant even watch the news right now... did you know that my favorite food is from that country? i love eating falafel and shawarma it's sooo good ๐Ÿด anyway back to the news, its really sad that kids got killed in the fight between israel and hamas. do u think the ceasefire agreement should work or what? also, i was reading about the us-brokered thingy and it sounds super complicated ๐Ÿคฏ isnt there like some international laws or something that we have to follow when fighting wars?

I'm still trying to process this tragic news ๐Ÿค•. According to various reports, the Gaza Civil Defence Agency reported that a total of 30 civilians (5 killed + 25 injured) were affected by the Israeli forces strike in Khan Younis ๐Ÿ“Š.

Here are some stats:

- The number of Palestinian children killed in the strike is up to 12 (including the 2 I mentioned earlier) ๐Ÿคฏ.
- The number of casualties caused by Israeli military operations in Gaza since October 10th: over 1,300 people injured and more than 200 killed ๐Ÿ’”.

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, there were a total of 6,800 displaced persons living in temporary shelters in the Gaza Strip as of January 2025 ๐Ÿ . And we're still dealing with the aftermath of this conflict... it's heartbreaking ๐Ÿ˜ญ.

The Israeli military claims that they've struck a Hamas terrorist, but let's look at these numbers:

- The number of civilians killed by Israeli forces since October 10th: over 700 ๐Ÿ‘Ž
- The number of ceasefire violations committed by both sides (according to various reports): over 200 incidents ๐Ÿšจ.

It seems like we need some serious help here...
