I'm literally thinking about this solar farm and AI datacentre precinct right now . Like, I was trying to finish my math homework and I kept imagining 20GW of electricity being generated... it's crazy! But at the same time, I'm worried about those bilbies . I mean, can't we just find a way to make the solar farm work without hurting all those adorable creatures? And what about energy poverty in the Barkly region? It feels like we're just shifting our problems around . Still, I guess it's progress towards a more sustainable digital future... and that's gotta be good for Australia, right?
OMG, like what's up with the size of this solar farm? 20GW of electricity production capacity sounds crazy!! I mean, I'm all for renewable energy and stuff, but is it really necessary for just one datacentre precinct? And I'm also a bit worried about those bilby habitats... I've seen pictures of them before, they're so cute . But at the same time, I guess if it's gonna help reduce carbon emissions and whatnot, then it's a good thing right? My friend told me that Australia is actually really innovative with tech stuff, maybe this will be like, super cool for Aussie industry ?
I'm not convinced this solar farm project is a good idea, even with all the greenwashing about being a leader in "green industrial development". Have they thought about what happens after the construction phase? Like, who's gonna pay for the maintenance and upkeep of that massive solar panel setup? And what's to stop the hyperscalers from sucking up all the clean energy and leaving the local communities high and dry? ️ It just seems like another case of corporate greed trying to make a quick buck off the environment...
