Google vows to stop scam E-Z Pass and USPS texts plaguing Americans

Google has filed a lawsuit against a Chinese cybercriminal group, accusing them of selling "phishing for dummies" kits that have helped scammers trick millions of people worldwide into revealing sensitive information. The kits, known as Lighthouse, offer pre-made templates and software tools to dupe victims into thinking they are entering information on legitimate websites.

Google alleges that the scams often start with a text claiming that a toll fee is overdue or a small payment must be made to redeliver a package. Once clicked, victims are redirected to a website where they are asked to input sensitive information, which scammers then use to drain wallets and bank accounts. In some cases, scammers even load stolen credit card information into Google Wallet.

The Lighthouse enterprise is accused of being a massive operation that has tricked over 1 million people in 121 countries, resulting in losses of over $1 billion. The scams often target Americans, with hundreds of millions of credit cards compromised in the US alone.

Google's complaint alleges that the Lighthouse enterprise is using Google's own transparency reporting against the company to avoid detection. Even with robust security measures in place, scammers can still trick users into providing multi-factor authentication codes by creating fictitious MFA pages.

The lawsuit aims to recover damages and disrupt the criminal enterprise behind the scheme. If successful, it could finally slow the spread of these phishing scams and provide relief to millions of Americans who have been victimized.

Google's historic lawsuit marks a significant step in curbing these scams and dismantling this massive operation. The tech giant vows to "disrupt the criminal enterprise behind this scheme and stop its spread."

πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ I'm so tired of these phishing scams! It's like, we're all living in a digital age and yet we still get duped into revealing our sensitive info by scammers. πŸ™„ They're like the ultimate online pranksters... but not funny. Google is doing the right thing by taking action against this massive cybercrime operation. πŸ’― I mean, $1 billion losses? That's just crazy talk! πŸ€‘ And it's not just Americans who are affected - people all over the world are falling for these scams. It's like we need to wake up and take online security more seriously. 🚨 Anyway, I hope Google's lawsuit can bring some much-needed relief to those who've been victimized... and maybe even disrupt this whole phishing thing once and for all! πŸ’»

I'm shocked by how easy it is for scammers to get away with their schemes 🀯. It's like they have an endless supply of tricks up their sleeve! I mean, who needs that much money? And what's even more disturbing is that these guys are using our own transparency reporting against us... it's like we're playing right into their hands πŸ˜’. Google needs to take a strong stance here and show these cybercriminals that they won't be able to get away with this for long.

I remember when I was younger, we didn't even have all the technology to deal with these kinds of scams πŸ“±. We relied on our wits and common sense to avoid being fooled. Nowadays, it's like we're under attack from all sides... phishing emails, malware, fake websites... it's a never-ending battle πŸ’».

I hope Google is able to recover some of the damages and disrupt this massive operation. It's time for these scammers to be held accountable πŸš”. And to the rest of us, let's just remember: if something seems too good (or bad) to be true, it probably is 😏.

Omg, can you even believe the scammers out there are so sneaky 😱?! I mean, selling "phishing for dummies" kits that literally teach people how to scam others? It's just crazy! 🀯 The fact that it's cost innocent people over $1 billion is just heartbreaking. πŸ’Έ

I'm glad Google is taking action and suing this cybercriminal group - they're doing the right thing! πŸ™Œ It's amazing that they're using their own transparency reporting against them, which just shows how clever (or sneaky) these scammers are 😏.

This lawsuit could really make a difference in slowing down these phishing scams and helping people feel safer online. πŸ’» Fingers crossed it's successful and we can finally start to see some real change! 🀞

This is so sick 🀯. I'm all for taking down these cybercriminals, but how did Google even find out about this operation? I mean, isn't transparency reporting supposed to be about, like, exposing security issues not hiding them? πŸ˜’ And what's with the fact that scammers are still managing to trick people into providing multi-factor auth codes? It's just crazy. And the scale of these scams is just mind-boggling - over $1 billion lost and hundreds of millions of credit cards compromised in the US alone... it's like, how did this even happen? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

I do think Google deserves some props for taking action, though. It's about time someone was held accountable for these scams. I just hope they can actually disrupt the operation and make a real difference. Fingers crossed πŸ’•

😊 I'm not surprised that Google is taking action against these cybercriminals πŸ€–. It's like, we all need to look out for each other online, right? πŸ’― These phishing scams are so cleverly done, but the fact that they're pre-made and sold as a kit just shows how desperate scammers can be to make some cash πŸ’Έ. 1 million people losing over $1 billion is crazy 🀯. Google's trying to do its part in keeping us safe online, and I'm all for it πŸ™Œ. It's about time these guys got caught and brought to justice ⚠️.

I'M SO SICK OF THESE PHISHING SCAMS! πŸš«πŸ‘Ž they're like, everywhere now! and google's lawsuit against this chinese cybercriminal group is like, long overdue imo. i mean, 1 million people scammed in 121 countries? that's just crazy talk! and the fact that these scammers are using google's own transparency reporting to avoid detection is just low. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

i'm glad google is taking a stand and vowing to disrupt this massive operation. we need more companies like google who are willing to take a hard stance against these scammers. and i hope that if they win their lawsuit, it will finally start to slow down the spread of these phishing scams and bring some relief to all the americans who have been victimized.

it's just frustrating when you think about how easy it is for these scammers to trick people into revealing sensitive information. i mean, come on! if a message says you need to pay a toll fee or redeliver a package, that's a red flag right there! 🚨

anyway, let's hope google wins this lawsuit and these phishers get what's coming to them. πŸ’ͺ

OMG u guyz! 🀯 Google is like, taking down Lighthouse for good!!! 🚫 I'm literally shaking with rage thinking about all those ppl who got scammed... like 1 million+ people in 121 countries?! That's crazy!! 🀯 And the worst part is that some scammers even used stolen credit card info to load it into Google Wallet πŸ€‘ Like, what even is that?!

I'm so glad Google is taking a stand and suing this cybercrime group. They need to be brought down for ruining lives like this. πŸ’” I just hope they get away with the damages and disrupt this whole operation. We can't let scammers win like this! 🚫 Google's been on point about keeping us safe online, now they're taking it to the next level πŸ’₯ And if they succeed, we'll all breathe a sigh of relief knowing our info is safer πŸ™Œ

πŸ€• u gotta think about all the ppl out there gettin scammed left & right πŸ€‘ these phishing kits are like, super easy to use & they're making tons of cash off people's ignorance πŸ’Έ I'm not surprised google is takin action tho, they gotta protect their users' info πŸ™ the fact that it's a global problem & affects millions of ppl in 121 countries is just wild 🌎 we need more awareness about online safety & phishing scams 🚨 especially with all the legit websites lookin like fake ones nowadays πŸ˜‚
