Haitians in America worry they’re Trump’s next target

I'm still thinking about this TPS thing and how it's gonna affect all these ppl... like they're already living in fear now Trump's words back in 2016 were really hurtful, and I think that's why Haitians are so worried about losing their protection What's the point of having a "shithole" country in the first place? Shouldn't we be helping ppl escape violence instead of making them feel unwelcome?

I'm kinda surprised more people aren't speaking out against this... I mean, even with bipartisan support from Ohio officials, there's still so much uncertainty for Haitians I just hope someone can find a way to make things easier for these people. Until then, they're stuck in limbo, living day by day without knowing what their future holds

OMG, like I'm literally shaking right now thinking about all these innocent ppl who are gonna get thrown back into Haiti 15k Haitian ppl in Springfield alone are bracing for this ICE op, can you even imagine? They've been living here with this TPS protection for years, and now it's all being taken away from them. Like, what even is the point of having a country if u can't trust its gov

And don't even get me started on the stats from Haiti - 1.5 million ppl internally displaced, 16k killed since Jan 2022... it's like a war zone over there . These ppl have risked their lives to escape that chaos and now they're being put back into it? It's just not right .

And what really gets me is the fact that some ppl think deportation is just a "death sentence"... I mean, who needs to die for trying to survive in a country that's already supposed to be their home . These ppl deserve so much better than to be treated like they're disposable .

I'm literally feeling so frustrated and sad thinking about all this... can't we just have one decent gov that looks out for its ppl? Like, is it really too much to ask for a safe haven?

omg this is crazy i'm so worried about these ppl they've been living here for yrs and now they're just gonna be tossed out like trash because of trump's ego it's not even that they did anything wrong, it's just that they needed a safe place to escape from violence. what if they can't make it back to haiti? the country is basically a war zone right now and deportation would be literally a death sentence for them we need to do something about this ASAP

The whole "death sentence" thing is so harsh... 1.5 million ppl are internally displaced in Haiti alone and you're expecting them to go back there after everything that's happened? I don't think so ... these ppl have been living in the US for years, contributing to society and now they're just gonna get sent back? It's like, what's next? Sending ppl from other countries back to their "homes" if it's not safe there? This whole situation is so messed up...

I'm getting the chills thinking about this ICE operation and potential deportations . It's like they're not even considering the human cost here. I mean, Trump already said some pretty messed up stuff about Haitians during his campaign, but to be clear - Haitian immigrants have contributed so much to our society and economy. They've been living in fear for years now because of this administration's policies .

And can we talk about the fact that many of these people are literally fleeing violence and instability back home? It's not like they're just looking for a free ride or something. They're trying to escape danger, find some stability, and build a better life for themselves and their families. But now they're being told that if TPS expires, it's game over? That's just cruel .

I'm so worried about the impact this will have on communities like Springfield, Ohio. People are already on edge because of this uncertainty, and it's not like there's even a clear plan in place for what's going to happen next. It's like they're just winging it and hoping everything works out .

We need some real leadership here and some compassion from our leaders. These people deserve better than to be treated like pawns in a game of politics .
