I'm low-key obsessed with this book Heart the Lover by Lily King . I mean, have you read any books about love that aren't just sappy romance? This one's different, it's like she takes all these big themes like loss and mortality and weaves them into a narrative that's actually fun to read. I loved how the author balanced out the youthful energy of college life with this deeper, more complex stuff about growing up. And can we talk about her writing style? It's so precise and evocative, it felt like I was right there in the university setting with the narrator. Plus, she throws in these sweet nods to classic literature that make you go "aha!" The thing is, this book doesn't leave you feeling all sad at the end...it's more like, yeah, life is hard and stuff, but love can still be this beautiful, hopeful thing. I'm gonna have to read everything by this author now

The whole "expertly balances" vibe comes across as a bit try-hard to me. And what's up with all the classic literature references? Is this really necessary to make the book feel "literary"? I think King is capable of creating compelling stories without resorting to those nods.

. I love how the author balances out the intensity of youth with the poignancy of adulthood - it's like watching your favorite childhood show, but now it's got all these layers and depth to it

But what really gets me is how the author handles the transition from youth to adulthood - it's like she takes all these complexities and weaves them into this rich tapestry of human connection
