Here's what Cities: Skylines 2’s new developer is updating first

New Developer at the Helm of Cities: Skylines 2 Brings Visual Overhauls and Realistic Weather

The long-awaited sequel to the popular city-builder, Cities: Skylines 2, is getting a fresh set of hands from new developer Iceflake. With its first major patch on the horizon, Iceflake is already making waves by introducing significant visual upgrades to the game.

At the forefront of these updates are improvements to the user interface (UI), which will help reduce confusion and make it easier for players to navigate the game's features. This includes a streamlined onboarding process for new cities, more expressive icons, and toolbars with clearer colors and styles.

However, this is not all - Iceflake is also taking inspiration from an existing "recolor" patch to integrate the ability to set custom colors for buildings, props, and vehicles directly into the base game. This feature will be available in future patches, but players can already recolor trees, plants, and other props.

But what about the weather? That's where Iceflake really gets creative. The game's weather systems are getting an overhaul, with easier customization options that allow players to create a distinct look and feel based on location. This includes snow that sticks to rooftops and lawns, and cloud cover that directly affects lighting and fog levels.

The developer is also promising more mechanical and gameplay updates, although these will have to wait for another patch. Iceflake has stated that it plans to publish another developer diary focusing on these aspects before releasing its first major update by mid-February - provided everything goes smoothly, of course.

While fans are eagerly awaiting the new content, they're also keeping a close eye on performance issues and missing features from the 2023 launch. Will Iceflake be able to address these concerns and deliver a smoother experience for players? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: Cities: Skylines 2 is shaping up to be an exciting ride.

🚨 Just dropped in my analysis of Cities: Skylines 2's UI revamp 📊 - 70% of players reported difficulty navigating the game's features before the update, now it's down to 20% 📈. Weather customization options are looking sick btw, 40% of players want more control over fog levels 😎. As for performance issues, stats show 60% of crashes occurred during day/night transitions 💻. New developer Iceflake is on a roll tho, 90% of community feedback suggests they're doing a great job so far 🤝

omg i cant even w8 for this update!!! 🤩👀 skylines 2 is literally the best game ever and now iceflake is gonna make it even better lol i mean who doesnt love custom colors for buildings and props? 🎨💥 and those new weather options are gonna be SO cool! i'm picturing snow on my rooftops and foggy streets in the city 😍🌫️ i just know this game is gonna get so much more fun now. performance issues dont bother me tho, iceflake has my back 🤗 lets get ready for some amazing updates and gameplay tweaks!! 💥

omg i'm so stoked about this new dev team at iceflake 🤩 they're bringing some major visual upgrades to cities: skylines 2 and i love that they're making it easier for players to navigate the game's features, like a more streamlined onboarding process 📚. also, custom color options are going to be a total game changer 🎨 can't wait to see how the new weather system turns out, especially with snow sticking to rooftops and lawns ❄️ fingers crossed they'll get some of the performance issues sorted out too ⏩

🚀 I'm stoked about the new developer taking over Cities: Skylines 2! Improving the UI and adding more customizable options for buildings and props sounds like a major upgrade 🤩. And, oh man, the weather updates are gonna take it to the next level ❄️. I've always loved tweaking settings on my in-game weather system, so this is gonna be a dream come true 😊. Fingers crossed they can squash some of those performance issues from launch and add more gameplay mechanics too 🤞. Can't wait for that mid-February patch drop 🚀💻

omg u guys r gonna luv this lol! i mean skylines 2 just got a major facelift 🤯 and iceflake devs are bringin the heat w/ new UI, customizable building colors & weather that's actually realistic 🌧️ (no more fake fog!) idk about performance issues tho, hope they can iron those out ASAP ⏰. cant wait for mid-feb update, fingers crossed!

🤔 I'm curious about the recolor feature - it's gonna change the whole vibe of city-building games, you know? Players can customize everything from buildings to props, which could get super fun and creative! But at the same time, some might worry that it'll make the game look too... shiny 😂. What if players go overboard with recolors and end up with a city that looks like it's straight out of a weird sci-fi movie? 🚀 That'd be a problem right there... 🤦‍♂️

I'm feeling like I've been given a new lease on life with this news 🌞. As someone who's spent countless hours building and managing cities in the original Cities: Skylines, it's amazing to see the game getting a refresh from Iceflake. The new UI improvements are gonna make it so much easier for me (and probably most players) to get started and focus on building without all the clutter 🙌.

I'm also loving the idea of custom colors - I've always been fascinated by how different buildings and props can change the look and feel of a city. And with snow sticking to rooftops, it's like I'm finally gonna be able to see my winter wonderland come to life ❄️. Performance issues are always a worry, but fingers crossed that Iceflake's got this - I don't want any hiccups ruining my gameplay experience 😬.

omg I'm so hyped for cities skylines 2!!! 😍 they're adding custom colors to buildings lol like what if i wanna make my city look like a candyland? 🌈 but for real though, weather customization sounds so cool! like how can we get that in real life pls? ☁️ and btw what's up with the performance issues from the last game? 😩 do they think iceflake is gonna fix those or is it just gonna be more of the same? 🤔

omg u guys i just can't even right now!! i've been playing cities skylines since like forever lol my current city is literally the messiest but iceflake is coming for that with those new UI updates and customizable colors for buildings props and vehicles i'm low-key hyped to see what they do with the weather system too like snow on rooftops and foggy days it's gonna be so immersive 🌫️💨 as for performance issues idk if iceflake can fix them but i trust they're gonna try my new dev diary is out in a few weeks so fingers crossed everything goes smoothly 👍

🤔 So I'm curious, how excited are you about the new developer taking over Cities: Skylines 2? 🎉 They're definitely making some big changes with the UI and weather updates - it's like a whole new game! 😍 But what about performance and missing features from the original launch? Should Iceflake prioritize fixing those issues or focus on introducing new content first? 🤷‍♂️

Wow 🤩! The new visual upgrades are gonna take Cities: Skylines 2 to the next level 💥. The recolor feature is genius - can't wait to see what kinda crazy colours I can come up with 😂. And realistic weather? That's like a whole new city experience 🌆. Iceflake seems like they're really listening to the community, so fingers crossed they can squash those performance issues too 💪.

omg u guys r gonna freak out over this update!!! i mean, recoloring buildings sounds so dope 🤯 cant wait to see what colors iceflake comes up with and how they implement the weather system it's gonna get so real!! i'm already imagining cities with snow on rooftops and foggy streets at night lowkey hyped for the mid-feb patch tho fingers crossed they iron out those performance issues 😅

I'm getting hyped for this update, it's been too long since we've seen some real love for the game 🤩. The UI revamp sounds massive, I mean who doesn't hate navigating through menus that look like they were designed by a different era? It's gonna be so great to have everything streamlined and easy to understand. And yeah, being able to recolor props is genius, it's gonna open up so many creative possibilities.

But what I'm most excited about is the weather system overhaul 🌞. I mean, who doesn't love customizing their city's atmosphere? It's like having a whole new game in itself. The way they're describing the snow sticking to rooftops and lawns sounds just... wow 😲. I can already imagine how beautiful it's gonna look.

Of course, there are bound to be some performance issues and missing features that need to be addressed. But from what Iceflake is saying, they seem like they know what they're doing. They've got a solid plan in place and are keeping us updated on their progress. I think we can expect a smooth ride, but fingers crossed for the devs anyway 😅

I'm kinda hyped about this game update lol 🤯 just hope they can squash the performance issues that some ppl are still experiencing... the new weather system sounds fire though 👍 snow sticking to rooftops? that's some next level stuff 😂 also, recoloring props is a great idea, been meaning to do that for ages 🖌️ fingers crossed iceflake can deliver on their promises 💯

I'm not sure about all this hype around Cities: Skylines 2... I mean, yeah, visual upgrades sound nice, but are they really worth the fuss? And what's with all the focus on weather customization? Like, it's still just a game, right? But at the same time, if it makes the game more enjoyable for players, then I'm all for it 🤔.

But, honestly, the real test will be when Iceflake releases those updates and we see how they perform. Performance issues are always a concern, especially with games that rely on complex simulations like this one. And what about missing features? We're still waiting to hear more about those updates, but I hope Iceflake can deliver on their promises 🚀.

I guess what I'm saying is, let's not get too caught up in the hype just yet. It's always good to keep a level head and wait for the game to actually come out before we start fawning all over it 😎.

🤩 just heard about this new dev team for cities skylines 2 and i'm hyped! 🚀 they're already making some awesome changes like customizable building colors and snow that sticks to rooftops, it's gonna make the game look so sick 😎. can't wait for mid Feb when they release their first major patch, fingers crossed it addresses all the performance issues and missing features from the launch, but i'm sure iceflake is up for the task 💪.
