This holiday season, metro Detroiters have a plethora of options to indulge in festive fun and support local businesses.

Eastern Market's Sunday Holiday Markets offer a unique shopping experience where you can browse through the stalls of local artisans, Michigan Christmas tree growers, and seasonal treats. The market will be open every Sunday from November 30th to December 21st, making it an ideal destination for those seeking holiday cheer.

Meanwhile, Detroit Urban Craft Fair has been celebrating its 20th year in bringing together dozens of local makers at the Masonic Temple. This event promises a fun-filled weekend of shopping and entertainment with DJ Dave Lawson spinning Christmas singles. The fair runs on December 6th and 7th, so mark your calendars to explore unique gifts for everyone on your list.

In Royal Oak, downtown lights up with holiday cheer featuring a Christmas tree, ice rink, carnival rides, ice sculptures, roasting marshmallows, and two weekends of gift shopping. More than a dozen vendors are set to participate in this festive event, including local favorites like 404 Industries, Blu Jean Blues, and The Office Coffee Shop.

Royal Oak Holidays Cookie Crawl is another exciting event that combines holiday shopping with sweet treats from 18 local businesses. On December 6th, attendees can collect unique cookies and other goodies while exploring the downtown area. Registration for this event costs $30.

If you're looking for a festive atmosphere in Midtown Detroit, Merry Midtown is an event not to be missed. Created by City Bird, this celebration features over 40 local businesses offering deals and family-friendly activities like DJ sets and ornament decorating. The event takes place on December 6th from 5 pm to 9 pm.

Detroit-born artist GRiZ is celebrating the 10th anniversary of his beloved holiday series, GRiZMAS. This year's celebration includes an expanded GRiZMAS Workshop with exclusive merchandise, a limited-edition coffee collaboration, and donation opportunities like a coat drive and raffle. The event takes place from December 9th to December 20th across various venues.

Detroiters have plenty of options for holiday shopping this season, from Eastern Market's Sunday Holiday Markets to the Detroit Urban Craft Fair, Royal Oak Holidays Cookie Crawl, Merry Midtown, and GRiZMAS. Make sure to check out these events and support local businesses while spreading some holiday cheer.

I'm so down for that eastern market thing on sundays πŸŽ„ they always have so many cool vendors and it's like a mini adventure every time i go. but have you noticed how some of these events are kinda close together? like, royal oak holidays cookie crawl is on dec 6th and merry midtown is also on dec 6th? can't they just merge the two or something? and what's up with the prices at that cookie crawl? $30 for a bunch of cookies? seems a bit steep to me πŸ€”

They have all these local artisans and tree growers, so you can get unique stuff that actually supports the community. Who wouldn't want to eat their way through downtown? πŸͺπŸŽ… I'm gonna try to hit up a few of these events, but I'll probably just end up getting lost in the crowds πŸ˜‚.

You know what's crazy? I was watching this documentary about old-school video games and they had this one guy who used to be a professional gamer in the 80s... he was so good that he got sponsored by Nintendo! Can you believe it? Anyway, he told this story about how he used to travel to tournaments all over the country, playing Pong on these massive screens for thousands of dollars. I'm pretty sure that's what inspired him to pursue a career in... actually, I don't know what his profession was after gaming, but it's wild to think about how far it could take you.

Oh, and have you ever tried making cookies from scratch? I had the most epic cookie disaster last week when I tried to make these fancy-schmancy sugar cookies. I added too much salt and they ended up tasting like... not cookies at all. Anyway, that's my holiday shopping tip: just stick with store-bought cookies.

omg i love this time of year πŸŽ„ so many fun things to do in detroit! i think eastern market's sunday holiday markets sound like a total blast πŸŽ‰ but have they ever had any issues with crowds or traffic? also, has anyone tried the cookie crawl in royal oak yet? i'm curious about that πŸͺπŸ’•

I'm loving the vibe in Metro Detroit this holiday season πŸŽ„πŸŽ…! I went back to last year's article about Eastern Market's Sunday Holiday Markets and saw that they've got new vendors this year... like, a bunch of them from different parts of the city. That's so cool! 🀩 And then I thought about Royal Oak's downtown lights, which looked amazing last time around. I remember someone commenting on how good it was to have an ice rink nearby too... and now they're adding more vendors? Sounds like a fun event! 😊 What really caught my attention though is that Detroit Urban Craft Fair has been going on for 20 years now... that's just crazy! πŸ’₯
