How Lord Dannatt used his peerage to open doors for business interests

I think this is a huge deal, you know? I mean, Lord Dannatt has been accused of using his power to help out his mates in business, which isn't exactly on the up and up. It's like, he's supposed to be above all that, but it seems he just can't resist trying to make some extra cash or get ahead. 🤑

I'm not surprised though, I mean, we've seen this kind of thing before with politicians and business folks getting cozy. And it's not just Dannatt, there are plenty of others who have done the same thing. It's like, people think they're above the law just because they're wealthy or powerful, but really they're just breaking the rules to suit their own interests.

It's good that the House of Lords committee has stepped in and slapped him with a four-month suspension, but I'm not sure it's enough. I mean, Dannatt is still a respected figure, and people will probably just write this off as a minor blip on his CV. But what really gets me is that he's trying to spin this as a way to show how much he's given to the public over the years. Like, yeah sure, you've spent 56 years in the military and done some great things, but you can't just buy your way out of breaking the rules! 🙄

💯 I'm not surprised by this news at all. It sounds like Dannatt was using his power and connections to get ahead, plain as day. The fact that he tried to spin it to say he was just trying to help with his 56 years of public service is a bit rich, don't you think? 🤔 He's been caught red-handed taking money for favors, and now he's getting off with a slap on the wrist. I mean, what's next? Is he gonna get a medal for being so bad at following rules? 😒 The fact that he's accepted the sanction shows he knows he broke the rules, but it's still not good enough in my book. He should have been stripped of his peerage and any other perks that came with it.
