this is so scary... I mean i'm glad the officer is stable tho 
but thinkin about it, how do you deal with people who are like super violent in a mental health situation? like, what happens before it gets that bad? should we be callin them the police or somethin else? they need better training and equipment to handle situations like this... and why is the suspect still at large? 
. Its like, they're already puttin themselves out there to help ppl, now they gotta worry about gettin hurt on the job too? It's crazy how many things can go wrong when you're respondin to a mental health call. I feel bad for the officer who got stabbed, hope he recovers fully

... but also kinda expected at the same time? I mean, the Theater District is already like super crowded and chaotic on a Sunday night, it's only fitting that something like this happens right? But at the same time, stabbing an officer in the head is just plain wrong, no matter what the circumstances. I don't know if more specialized training would've made a difference in this case, but I guess it's always better to be safe than sorry 
. The fact that another officer had to intervene and end it all is just heartbreaking, though... 
. We need to make sure we're supporting our officers, both on the job and after they retire too, 'cause this stuff affects them way deeper than just their job skills

It's like they say "to serve and protect" but what about when the person being served is clearly not responding positively? 
what's going on with these mental health calls anyway? i remember watching that documentary series "Crisis Hotline" back in 2018 where they were investigating some of these incidents and it was super alarming...now this is just another example 
or 'call a backup'... like that's gonna help in the heat of the moment. And what about the mental health system itself? Can't they see this is exactly what happens when you don't have proper support and resources for people struggling with their minds?! 
. it's so sad when law enforcement have to deal with these kinds of situations, especially mental health ones which can be super tricky to navigate. we need more resources & training for officers to handle these calls without getting hurt
