Katie McCabe is still buzzing from Arsenal's Champions League triumph over Barcelona. The 30-year-old full-back was at the forefront of the celebrations, leading the partygoers in singing her own chant before shushing them and launching into a rendition of Stina Blackstenius's song to the tune of 'Karma Chameleon', proclaiming "red is in my blood" and even jogging back on to the pitch after the team finished their third day of celebrations.
Eight months later, McCabe still talks about that magical night with passion. The Republic of Ireland international says she worked tirelessly for the victory and was determined to enjoy it with her teammates. Despite being under intense scrutiny following the partying, McCabe insists she won't be singing the same tune again anytime soon - "I can't sing it ever again", she admits with a laugh.
McCabe credits her incredible recovery from an 18-year-old leg break that almost ended her football career to becoming one of the most consistent players in the WSL. Her work ethic is evident, having maintained an impressive level of performance throughout the season and leading by example for her teammates.
Despite Arsenal's recent struggles to replicate their Champions League success on the pitch, McCabe remains optimistic about the team's prospects. They face a tough test against Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round but are focused on finding consistency and pushing for all the trophies. As she puts it, "You never know in the WSL - especially this year when there's teams taking points off everybody... We want to compete for all the trophies and that's going to be a tough ask, but we've got a great team, we've got winners in the team, so we'll be absolutely focused on pushing for that."
