'I think my mum's going to like it': Alexander Skarsgård on his gay biker 'dom-com' Pillion

Alexander Skarsgård thinks he can get away with playing a gay biker in a romantic comedy: Pillion is as much fun to watch as it is to make. It's a film that celebrates the kink community without shame or judgment - no straight audiences are catered for here. Lighton's screenplay draws on his childhood crushes, including Groundskeeper Willie from The Simpsons, and the result is a confident, sexy, and funny story.

The trailer promises 'feel-good' fun, but Pillion does tackle some heavy themes: abuse of power, consent, and the stigma surrounding kink culture. Lighton has little patience with the idea that kinks are unsuitable for public viewing, especially in LGBTQ+ festivals where the marginalised should be given pride of place.

For his part, Skarsgård says he never thought twice about playing a gay biker - "we just wanted to do it well." The chemistry between Melling and himself is undeniable; their scenes together have a tingling electricity that feels both authentic and natural. Yet the real stars of Pillion are those who play outside the mainstream, people we don't see enough of on screen.

One audience member Skarsgård seems nervous about showing to his twin brother - there's some intriguing family history at play here. Despite this, the film promises an enjoyable viewing experience for everyone, regardless of background or lifestyle.

I'm not buying it. The trailer is looking super fun and lighthearted, but I bet there's more to the story than that. What with all these heavy themes like abuse of power and stigma around kink culture... sounds like a super serious film to me 🤔. But then they're saying it's a "feel-good" movie? That doesn't add up. How can you have a fun, sexy rom-com tackling those topics too? I need some sources on this one, stat! 💡

omg i love how pillion is like embracing its kink community and not apologizing for it 🤩 alexander skarsgard seems so down-to-earth about playing a gay biker too - no drama just 'we wanna do it well' 💁‍♂️ meanwhile, the chemistry between melling and skarsgård is giving me all the feels 😍 its awesome that they're celebrating those who are often marginalized in media. can't wait to see this film 🎥

I'm so over Hollywood trying to be PC and "inclusive" 🙄. Alexander Skarsgård thinks he can just waltz in and play a gay biker in a rom-com without any repercussions? Please, if I was playing a role like that online I'd get roasted within minutes 😂. The fact that the trailer promises "feel-good fun" but actually tackles some heavy themes is like, what's up with that? It's like they're trying to have it both ways 🤷‍♀️. And Skarsgård's response about not thinking twice about playing the role... um, sure buddy, keep telling yourself that 💁‍♂️. The real question is, why are we even talking about this on a public forum like Reddit? Shouldn't it be a private conversation between two people who actually care? 🤔

I'm all for films that showcase unique stories and communities, but sometimes I worry that we're still living in a world where 'different' doesn't necessarily mean equal representation. I get why Lighton wanted to create Pillion, celebrating the kink community without judgment, but it's still a film primarily aimed at LGBTQ+ audiences 🌈. Still, with Skarsgård and Melling on board, it looks like we're in for an entertaining ride 😄. Love that the chemistry between them is undeniable – it makes me want to watch! 🎥 On the other hand, can't help but feel a bit left out of the mainstream conversation about kink culture...

I'm not sure if I'd watch this movie just because it's not really my scene 🤷‍♂️. Don't get me wrong, Alexander Skarsgård is a talented actor and all, but I don't think he should be playing a gay biker in a romantic comedy. It feels kinda forced or like an attempt to be cool? 🤔 On the other hand, the fact that it's a film that celebrates kink culture without shame or judgment might actually make for some interesting stuff. And from what I've seen of the trailer, the chemistry between Skarsgård and Melling seems pretty real 💁‍♀️. Maybe I'd watch it just to see how they handle those heavy themes 🤞.

Ugh, I'm low-key excited for Pillion... not that anyone needs to convince me otherwise 🤷‍♀️. Alexander Skarsgård's "nervous" reaction about showing it to his twin brother is pretty rich considering he's still on the wagon after all those True Blood shenanigans 💁‍♂️. On a more serious note, I'm loving that Lighton is bringing attention to kink culture without making it some watered-down, mainstream thing – we need more of these kinds of stories, especially in the festival circuit 🎥.

Come on, Skarsgård can't just waltz in and play a gay biker like it's no big deal 🤣 I mean, isn't that kinda stereotypical? And what's up with the trailer promising 'feel-good' fun but then tackling all these heavy themes? Sounds like the filmmakers are trying to be edgy or something... Newsflash: we get it, kink culture is a thing. Can't they just make a fun movie without hitting us over the head with social commentary? 😒

I love how Alexander Skarsgård is stepping out of his comfort zone to play a character that's so unique and important 🤩. It's awesome that Lighton's screenplay isn't afraid to tackle those heavy themes and give a platform to the kink community - it's about time we see more representation on screen 💪. I'm also loving the chemistry between Skarsgård and his co-star, Melling... their scenes together are giving me all the feels 😍! And can we talk about how refreshing it is that this film isn't trying to pander to straight audiences? It's a celebration of the kink community, just as it should be 🌈. I'm definitely excited to watch Pillion now and support a film that's so unapologetically itself 💕!

i'm not sure if alexander skarsgard is ready for this kind of role yet... playing a gay biker in a romantic comedy sounds like a great opportunity to bring some diversity and representation to mainstream cinema, but we gotta consider whether he's fully comfortable with the material. personally i think it's awesome that lighton is tackling heavy themes without shying away from them - it shows that kink culture isn't just for the 'weirdos' anymore 🤪. still, there's a fine line between celebrating something and reducing it to a novelty. fingers crossed skarsgard does do justice to this role and we get a film that's more than just a fun ride 💨

Sounds like Pillion is finally a movie that reps kink culture authentically 🙌💪 No more tokenism or watered-down 'edgy' vibes. Alexander Skarsgård's got game and Melling's chemistry with him is real 🔥 Can't wait to see this one on screen, even if it's not for everyone 😎

I'm loving how Alexander Skarsgård is throwing caution to the wind and playing a character that's not exactly the typical leading man role 🤸‍♂️. It's refreshing to see someone using their platform to celebrate the kink community without shying away from tough topics. And let's be real, his on-screen chemistry with Melling is on point 🔥! What I find really admirable is how Lighton is pushing boundaries and giving a voice to people who often get overlooked in mainstream media. It's about time we see more stories like Pillion that showcase the complexities of kink culture and challenge our societal norms 🌈💪

I'm loving how Alexander Skarsgard is throwing himself into this role 🤩! The chemistry between him and Melling is defo on point 😍. But I do wish they'd tackle some of the kink community's harder issues more explicitly... still, Pillion sounds like a rad film that'll make you laugh and think 💡. Can't wait to see it on screen - all the marginalized folks should be proud to see themselves represented 🌈!

I'm so confused by this movie... like I just saw the trailer and it looks kinda fun but also kinda heavy? I don't get why they need to make a whole movie about abuse and stuff. Can we just watch a romantic comedy without all that drama? But at the same time, I love how it's celebrating kink culture and all that... I've never really understood what that was all about 🤷‍♀️. And Alexander Skarsgård is so cute in the trailer 😍. Is he really a twin or just acting like one? Why do I care?! 🤔

I'm loving the vibe of Pillion but I gotta say, I wish they'd formatted that article better 🤦‍♀️. The layout is all over the place and it's making my eyes dart back and forth too much. Can't they just get the typography right? 😂

Anyway, back to the film... I'm excited to see a more diverse cast on screen and I love that Lighton is tackling some heavy themes in a lighthearted way. It's about time we saw more stories like Pillion, you know? 🎥 Those who live outside the mainstream are often what make life interesting, right?

I do think Alexander Skarsgård looks pretty good as a gay biker 😏 and that chemistry between him and Melling is undeniable. I'm also intrigued by the family history of the film, sounds like there's some juicy stuff going down 🤫. All in all, Pillion seems like a fun and sexy romp... now if only they'd proofread for me! 💁‍♀️

omg i'm literally SHOOK by Alexander Skarsgård's role in Pillion 🤯!!! I mean, who wouldn't want to watch a gay biker rom-com with such dashing good looks? 😎 and the chemistry between him and Melling is undeniable - they're like two peas in a pod! 💕 what i love about this film is that it's not just some formulaic rom-com, but it tackles real issues like abuse of power and stigma around kink culture. it's like Lighton took every aspect of his childhood crushes (and I'm talking Groundskeeper Willie level of adoration 🙌) and turned them into a confident, sexy, and funny story that celebrates the kink community. can't wait to see this on the big screen! 💥

Love how Alexander Skarsgard is finally playing a role that doesn't make him look like a generic brooding hunk 🤣. The trailer looks so much fun! And I'm all about celebrating the kink community without judgment - it's long overdue on screen 💖. Pillion seems to tackle some heavy stuff, but if anyone can do it with humor and heart, it's this cast 😊. Can't wait to see how it plays out 🎬.

thoughts about this movie are gonna be all over the place since it came out 5 days ago and now its dead 😂 anyway pillion seems like a really unique film that's gonna appeal to people who aren't even usually into rom-coms...its not your typical 'gay couple finds love' story. also its nice to see some actual representation of kink culture on screen, with no judgment or shame. alexander skarsgård seems cool about playing the lead and his chemistry with the co-star is pretty palpable. but i do think its weird that he's being cautious about showing it to his twin bro... maybe thats a plot twist we dont know about yet 🤔

I'm so down for a rom-com that dares to be itself, even if it doesn't cater to straight audiences! The trailer looks like so much fun and I love how Lighton is tackling those heavy themes with confidence. Skarsgård's willingness to play this role without hesitation is refreshing 🙌. And Melling's chemistry with him? 🔥👍 Can't wait to see the film and support more stories that showcase the kink community in all their complexity 💕.

omg u guys dont think about the fact that skarsgard is playing a gay character in a rom-com and its not even like he's being stereotypical, its like... he's just owning it? but at the same time idk if its enough to make up for the lack of diverse casting overall the film sounds actually pretty cool tho 🤔💁‍♀️
