'I took literary revenge against the people who stole my youth': Romanian author Mircea Cărtărescu

🤔 i think its wild how much of a impact his past experiences had on his writing, like, he was shaped by communism but also became super disillusioned with it, which is kinda crazy considering he went on to write this epic trilogy that subverts traditional storytelling... 📚 anyway, im not sure if hes "undeterred" in the classical sense, cuz i mean he does say we need to remind others of our eu identity, but like, doesnt that sound a bit... nationalistic? 🤷‍♂️

man 🤯 I am obsessed with Mircea Cărtărescu's Blinding trilogy, the way he blends surrealism and post-apocalyptic chaos is like nothing I've ever read before 🌪️. And can we talk about his style? it's like a beautifully messy puzzle, he takes these different elements and just kinda...mashes them together 🤯. I love how he's unapologetically himself, refusing to be tied down by conventions or expectations, that's so inspiring 💥. and I'm totally with him on the importance of Eastern European writers being recognized on their own terms 🔥.
