Idrissa Gueye red card: Joe Hart on Everton duo's clash against Man Utd

Joe Hart has expressed his dismay over the red card handed to Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye during their clash with Manchester United. According to the former England goalkeeper, what should have been a straightforward game was marred by a physical altercation between two of his team-mates, Michael Keane and Gueye.

As they clashed on the pitch, it seemed like only a matter of time before someone would get sent off. While some might say that the sending off of Gueye is a fair reflection of the players' behavior, Hart believes there should be greater measures in place to prevent such incidents from occurring in the first place.

"When you don't want anyone fighting, that's what you're trying to avoid," said Hart on BBC Radio 5 Live. "The reality is, footballers are human beings and sometimes we have disagreements, but that shouldn't escalate into physical confrontation."

Gueye was handed a red card for his involvement in the altercation with Keane, which has left many questioning whether the red card was the right decision. Hart thinks that while Gueye's actions were unacceptable, he should not have been given the red card.

"The sending off is inevitable when things get like that," said Hart. "You can't just walk away from it because you don't want to get sent off. You have to take responsibility for your actions, but maybe a yellow card or a caution would have been more suitable in this situation."

The incident has sparked debate among football fans and pundits alike, with some arguing that the red card was too harsh while others believe Gueye's behavior was unacceptable.

For his part, Hart thinks that the sending off of Gueye should serve as a wake-up call for players to take their actions more seriously in the changing room.

idk what's going on anymore lol... it seems like a normal game turns into a brawl every other week πŸ˜‚ anyway, Joe Hart makes some good points about the red card. I mean, Gueye was clearly in the wrong here, but 10 min is a lot for just a disagreement πŸ€” maybe yellow or two cautions would've been more fitting? not saying it's an easy call for refs to make, but a wake-up call for players to behave? yeah sounds about right πŸ’‘

idk how you can have a game without 1 or 2 idiots causing drama πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I mean, i get it, footballers are humans and all that, but come on... 1 yellow would've been enough to say "look, calm down, mate" πŸ˜…. the sending off just seemed like an overreaction to me πŸ™„

Ugh, I feel like they're just expecting us to accept that red cards are just a normal part of football now πŸ™„. Like, I get that physical altercations happen, but is it really necessary to boot someone out? It's not like Gueye was trying to hurt anyone. A yellow or two strikes would've been fairer, you know? πŸ€”

And yeah, Hart's right about players taking responsibility for their actions, but come on, can't we just have a chat in the changing room instead of physical altercations? I mean, it's not like they're going to start having fistfights during games or anything... probably πŸ˜‚.

omg u no how frustrating this is!! 😩 like literally what's goin on with these footballers?? they're supposed 2 b role models 4 kids everywhere! idrissa guyeys red card was def too harsh tho πŸ€” he did get aggro w/ michael keane but a yellow would've bin suficeent lol. joe hart gets it tho, we need 2 focus on preventin incidents like dis rather than just punishin the players. πŸ’ͺ

I don't get why Gueye got sent off πŸ€”. I mean, yeah, he lost his cool and went at Keane but it was all just a bit of an overreaction, right? A yellow would've been enough IMHO πŸ˜’. I'm more with Hart on this - we need to be looking at how players behave in the changing room, not just on the pitch πŸ‘Š. The whole thing felt like a big mess and now people are debating whether it was too harsh or not πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

IT'S A NO-BRAINER THAT THERE NEEDS TO BE BETTER SAFETY PROTOCOLS IN PLACE WHEN IT COMES TO PLAYER CONFRONTATIONS ON THE PITCH!!! I mean, come on, Joe Hart is RIGHT ON THE MONEY HERE!!! πŸ™Œ The whole thing just escalated too quickly and now Gueye's getting a red card and it's all everyone can talk about. What if someone got seriously hurt?! 😱 It's just so frustrating!

I mean, I can understand why Joe Hart is saying what he's saying... I remember when John Terry used to get sent off all the time and we were like "oh great, another one!" πŸ˜‚ But, you know, back then it was just part of the game. Nowadays, with all the CCTV cameras and social media, players are gonna be more aware of their actions on and off the pitch. Still, I think a yellow card would've been enough in that situation... Gueye's not some monster or anything πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. And yeah, maybe it is a wake-up call for players to behave themselves, but you don't wanna be too harsh either. It's like when I was playing FIFA with my mates and someone would get sent off... we'd just laugh about it afterwards 😊.

man what a frustrating situation... i think joe hart makes a valid point about us needing better ways to manage conflicts among teammates... like yeah we all know players are gonna get emotional but can't we just find a way to diffuse things before it gets physical? πŸ€” and idrissa guye's actions were definitely unacceptable, but was the red card really necessary? it feels like a perfect storm of emotions in that moment. do you think the game would've been any different with a yellow or even a warning? 🚨

πŸ€” The sending off of Idrissa Gueye has left many wondering if it was the right decision πŸ™„. As someone who's been around the game, I think Joe Hart makes a valid point about preventing such incidents from happening in the first place 😬. We need to rethink our approach to managing player conduct on and off the pitch πŸ‘Š. A yellow card or caution might have been a better fit for Gueye's actions πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. It's time to focus on educating players on how to resolve conflicts without resorting to physical altercations πŸ’‘. The sending off should be seen as a call to action for the football community to take player welfare more seriously 🌟.

idk why gueye got a red card tho πŸ€”πŸ’”...harts point is fair tho, like footballers are human beings and we all have bad days πŸ˜’...shoulda been cautions instead of red cards when tempers flare πŸ”₯πŸ‘Š...gueye's gonna learn from this & take responsibility for his actions πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸ“š...red cards can be harsh but sometimes its necessary, hopefully gueye will reflect on the game and grow as a player πŸ€πŸ’•

idk what's wrong with giving out yellow cards in situations like this πŸ€”... seem like just an excuse for the refs to hand out reds and get all the attention. if it was that bad, should be a 3rd degree burn on their face rather than a game ban πŸ˜’... also, can't we focus on actually teaching players how to handle their emotions instead of just throwing out penalties πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ?

πŸ€” I feel like the refs are so caught up in trying to enforce rules and discipline that they forget about player safety 🚨. If it was just a minor scuffle, a yellow card would've been perfect ⚽️. But no, the red card is always the easy way out πŸ”΄. It's like they're saying "we gotta show you who's boss" instead of "let's keep things calm and fair" πŸ˜’. Gueye might've lost his cool, but did he really deserve a pink card? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I think not ⚽️!

man i feel joe hart on this one lol πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

imagine you're having a convo with your mate and things get heated, but u don't wanna escalate it 2 physicality right?
but what if ur teammate or someone else gets involved & thinks its okay 2 start throwing punches?
that's wot happened between keane & gueye, sadly.

now joe's saying we need 2 take responsibility 4 our actions on & off the pitch 🀝
not just when it affects the game but in general, too!
it's not just about individual players but team culture, too 🚫

red card or yellow? either way, u gotta take responsibility for ur actions... but maybe a more balanced approach would've been better here? πŸ€”

anyway, let's hope gueye learns from this & takes it 2 the changeroom to reflect on his behavior πŸ™

I gotta say, I'm with Joe on this one πŸ€”. 10 minutes is way too long for a yellow card in my book. I mean, yeah, Gueye's actions were shady, but you can't just send someone off like that over a stupid disagreement πŸ˜’. It's like the ref was trying to make an example out of him πŸ™„. And what really gets me is how some people are defending it, saying he started it... no, Idrissa didn't start anything! Michael Keane was the one who got all worked up πŸ’₯. The refs need to think about the bigger picture here and not just go with their gut instinct πŸ˜‚. Anyway, hopefully this incident makes players take a hard look at themselves and how they conduct themselves on and off the pitch 🀞.

Ugh 🀯 I cant even believe this... like, come on guys! Can we just calm down and talk about this like adults? πŸ˜’ So Joe Hart is saying that Idrissa Gueye got a little too physical with Michael Keane but yeah no kidding πŸ™„ the guy was already red with rage. And then what's supposed to happen? Everyone just walks away from it? Like, no way! We're human beings here and we have feelings and emotions. The Red card is like, "oh yeah, I'm gonna send you off for life because you might lose your temper." πŸ™„

The thing is, we can all agree that Gueye's actions were NOT cool. But did the red card really need to be handed out? Can't they just give a yellow or something instead of ripping the kid from the game like that? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ My point is, if we're gonna take responsibility for our actions, let's not just hand someone the boot without giving them a chance to calm down and talk it through. It's all about accountability but also common sense πŸ’‘

I'm pretty sure the referee made a mistake by giving Gueye the red card πŸ€”. The guy was just trying to stand up for his teammate, and it's not like he meant to cause any harm πŸ™. It's easy to say that footballers should be able to manage their emotions in the changing room, but sometimes things just happen on the pitch ⚽️. I think a yellow card would have been more fitting in this situation πŸ‘.

Umm, I mean... πŸ€” come on guys, it's not that hard to keep your cool when things get heated on the pitch! πŸ™„ Idrissa Gueye knew what he was doing wrong and he should've just taken a yellow card like everyone else. Red card? That's harshing the mellow for no reason at all πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. The real problem here is that players are more worried about getting sent off than actually resolving their issues on the pitch... I mean, what happened to having a chat and working it out like normal people? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

idk about this one πŸ€”... stats say 60% of red cards are given for misconduct, but only 30% of those are for actual violence πŸ’ͺ. meanwhile, a study by @BBC found that 70% of players have experienced some form of bullying or intimidation in the dressing room 🚫. so yeah, gueye's actions were bad, but is a red card the right response? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

btw, did you know that the average player takes around 10-15 minutes to cool down after being sent off from a game? πŸ‘€ and research shows that players are more likely to commit further misconduct during this time βš”οΈ. just saying...

anyway, according to @optaSports, Everton have conceded the most penalties in the premier league this season πŸ“‰... maybe joe hart's concern about player behavior is more relevant than we think 😬

I don't get it why Gueye had to get sent off πŸ€”... I mean, yeah he was involved in the fight, but come on, it's just two blokes having a kick-off πŸ˜‚. Can't they just sort it out like adults? Hart makes a point about footballers being human and all that, but sometimes it feels like we're more concerned with getting our own backs up than resolving the issue πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ... anyway, maybe this incident will make players think twice before letting their emotions get the better of them πŸ‘Š
