IHSA reschedules Class 5A/6A football state title games, hopes for 7A/8A decision Saturday

Illinois High School Association Reschedules Football State Title Games Amid Unprecedented Snowstorm

The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) has announced a significant adjustment to its football state championship schedule, as the Class 5A and 6A title games that were initially postponed due to an anticipated snowstorm will now be played on Tuesday. The rescheduled games will take place at Illinois State University's Hancock Stadium, with the 3 p.m. kickoff featuring Providence vs. St. Francis, followed by Fenwick vs. East St. Louis at 6 p.m.

Despite the earlier postponement, the IHSA remains committed to crowning state champions in all four largest classes. However, the organization is still in the process of rescheduling the Class 8A and Class 7A title games, which will now be played on a separate schedule.

IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson acknowledged that there are "still some logistical hurdles" to overcome before the rescheduled Class 7A and 8A games can be finalized. However, Anderson expressed appreciation for the patience and understanding of competing schools and partners in the community, emphasizing the organization's commitment to finding a solution that ensures the safest possible outcome.

The IHSA has emphasized that all previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled games, providing some relief to fans who had already made travel arrangements or secured seats. Despite the challenges posed by the snowstorm, the IHSA is working tirelessly to provide a positive experience for student-athletes and their communities.

omg i cant even right now!! 🀯 so they had 2 postpone the football games but now its back on & im kinda hyped 4 providence vs st francis tho πŸ€” who's gonna win? πŸˆπŸ‘€ anyway i feel bad for fenwick cuz their fans were prob super excited 2 c them play... 😐 hope everything goes smooth 4 the rest of the games 🀞

Ugh, I'm so over all this snowstorm drama 🌨️! Can't they just cancel the games altogether? Like, it's not worth risking anyone's safety on the field. And now they're rescheduling them on Tuesday? That's just gonna cause more headaches for everyone involved. Plus, what about those fans who have already made travel arrangements or bought tickets? They're gonna get screwed if the games are pushed back again πŸ€‘. I don't get why they can't just admit defeat and postpone the games until spring. It's not like winning a state title is worth risking lives...

Ugh, can you believe this? They're trying to reschedule these state title games on Tuesday... like that's even possible πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, I get it, safety first and all that jazz, but still. The snowstorm might be intense, but that doesn't mean they can just abandon the kids' championship dreams πŸ’”. And now they're having to play some of these games at a separate stadium? It's like, hello, how are we supposed to make this work? 🀯 At least they're trying to honor all those ticket sales and stuff, so I guess that's a plus πŸ‘. Still, it just feels like everything is being thrown under the rug and nobody's really getting what they want... in the end, of course 😐.

Ugh, can you believe the IHSA is still trying to get these football games rescheduled? I mean, I get it, weather conditions are crazy, but come on! First they postpone, now they're rescheduling... it's like a game of musical chairs for high school athletes πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. And don't even get me started on the separate schedule for Class 7A and 8A games - what's up with that? Can't they just stick to one plan already? 😩

And then there's the whole thing about honoring previously purchased tickets... good luck with that 🎟️. I'm sure it'll be a logistical nightmare trying to figure out who gets their money back and who doesn't. And what about fans who had to travel from out of town just to watch these games? That's some major inconvenience right there πŸ˜’.

I swear, sometimes I think the IHSA is more worried about the games themselves than the well-being of the students involved πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Can't they just focus on making sure everyone stays safe and has a good time? Is that too much to ask? πŸ™„

I'm thinking... how crazy that those football state title games were moved up like 3 days 🀯 And now they're having some logistical issues 😬... hope everything gets sorted out soon so the teams can get some closure. It's always tough when bad weather hits, but I guess that's just part of the game 🏈πŸ’ͺ. On the bright side, fans don't have to worry about getting a refund on their tickets πŸ™Œ!

OMG 🀯 I'm so hyped that they're rescheduling those football state title games! 😊 I feel bad for all the fans who had to plan last-minute trips or deals for tickets, but at least IHSA is taking care of them. πŸ™Œ On a serious note, 6 p.m. kickoff on Tuesday seems crazy but I guess it'll be lit πŸ”₯ to have that energy in Hancock Stadium! πŸ’₯ The teams are gonna give it their all and make some unforgettable memories, win or lose πŸ†πŸ‘

🀯 what's going on here?! Can't just postpone sports events because of some freak snowstorm? I get it, safety first and all that, but rescheduling everything like this must be stressing out teams and fans alike πŸ€”... and why do the bigger games have to wait while everyone else gets to play early? It's not fair! And can we talk about the logistics of the whole thing? 3 pm and then another game at 6 pm on a Tuesday? Are they even considering crowd control here? 🚨 Anyway, I guess it's good that tickets are still being honored, but what about all those fans who had to travel just to get there?! πŸš—πŸ‘Ž

omg can u believe this? i just got back from the most epic winter hike at starved rock 🏞️ and saw some crazy icicles that were like 10 ft long! anyway back to sports... what's up with all these weather changes lately? one day it's sunny, next day it's snowing. can't even plan a picnic without checking the forecast πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. on a more serious note tho, hope those football games go well and whoever wins gets the title! πŸ’ͺ

πŸ€” This whole thing just smells like a setup to me... I mean, have you noticed how conveniently they're rescheduling these games? Like, isn't it suspicious that they're doing this now, when the snowstorm is finally coming through? It's almost like they knew all along that something was gonna happen and just needed an excuse to change plans. And don't even get me started on the whole "logistical hurdles" thing... sounds like a total cop-out to me.

I'm also wondering, why are they rescheduling these games for Tuesday instead of waiting till the weekend? That's gotta be more expensive for everyone involved, and it's not exactly fair to the teams that were originally scheduled. And what about all those fans who bought tickets already? Did they just get a free ticket out of the blue?

This whole thing has me thinking there's something fishy going on behind the scenes... πŸ€‘

Ugh I'm so frustrated with this snowstorm thing πŸŒ¨οΈπŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Can't they just make up their minds?! First it's one day off, then it's another... now the state title games are being rescheduled like 3 times already! 😩 But at the same time, gotta give points to the IHSA for trying to find a solution that works for everyone. They're clearly not making this up as they go along πŸ™. And yay for all the fans who got their money back - that's some good news πŸ’Έ! Still, it's gonna be super tight to get everything sorted out on time... fingers crossed they can pull it off! πŸ’ͺ

🌨️ I gotta say, this is a real bummer for football fans in Illinois πŸ€•! They were already hyped up for those games and now they're getting rescheduled like, what's the deal? πŸ€” The IHSA should've been more prepared for something like this winter weather 🌳. But you gotta give 'em credit, at least they're trying to make it work and keep those state titles on schedule πŸ’ͺ. It's just a shame that some of these smaller schools are still stuck in the dark about their games 🀝. Fingers crossed everything gets sorted out and we can get back to cheering on our favorite teams soon 😊

πŸ€” This whole situation is kinda crazy, right? I mean, you'd think that with the latest weather forecast, they would've cancelled the games for good. But I guess the IHSA didn't want to give up on crowning state champions just yet πŸ†. It's cool that they're trying to make it work, but at the same time, I'm a bit surprised they're still dealing with logistical issues... 6 p.m. kickoff? That's late! Anyway, props to them for sticking to their guns and making sure everything is safe and all that jazz πŸ’ͺ

The state title games are finally happening but it's still kinda crazy that there are rescheduled games 🀯. I feel bad for all the fans who had to deal with the initial postponement, they must've been really disappointed. But at least the IHSA is trying its best to make everything work out safely and fairly ⚽️. It would be awesome if they could get those other games done by Friday already tho 🀞...

Wow! 🀯 Those schools are gonna be shoveling out onto that field at 3 pm on Tuesday? Snowstorm is serious! ❄️ Interesting how the tickets are gonna be honored, tho. Fans must've been stressing about those travel arrangements... 😬

omg i feel bad for those high school football players they must be so stressed out about this snowstorm 🌨️😩 but at least the IHSA is trying its best to get everything back on track, and yay that fans who bought tickets don't have to worry about getting a refund πŸŽŸοΈπŸ’• it's just one of those crazy things that happen in life, right? sometimes you gotta roll with the punches (or in this case, the snowstorm) πŸ˜…

The IHSA's decision to reschedule those title games πŸ€” makes me wonder if they're being too reactive instead of proactive? I mean, wouldn't it have been better to anticipate this kind of situation and have a backup plan in place from the start? It's all about setting priorities - do you prioritize the state championships or public safety?

And have you considered the impact on local communities? The economic benefits of hosting these games are significant, but what about the costs associated with rescheduling at the last minute? πŸ€‘ It's also interesting to note that some schools might have already made significant travel arrangements or sold out their tickets. How will they be affected by this change?

I'd love to see more transparency around the IHSA's planning and decision-making processes. Are there any lessons learned from previous events that could help prevent similar situations in the future? Transparency and accountability are key, especially when it comes to public institutions like the IHSA πŸ“Š

omg u think they'll get it all done on tues btw i was just thinking about how i need to get a new laptop battery cuz mine's been dying like every 2 hours rn i mean, who needs state titles when u can have good wifi tho? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ anyway, gotta give 'em points for tryin' to reschedule the games tho!

omg can u believe they're having football games in TUESDAY 🀣 like, what's next? spring break baseball championships? 🏟️🌸 anyway, i guess it's not ideal but at least they're being considerate about the tickets and all that jazz. still, i wonder if those schools are just gonna get their buns back on the bus after a quick nap in bed πŸ˜΄πŸ’€

OMG 🀩 I'm so stoked that they're still going to make this happen! I mean, who doesn't love a good underdog story? The kids have been training for months and now they get to play in front of all those fans. And can you believe the IHSA is still committed to finding a solution that's safe for everyone? It's like, they're not just about winning, but about making sure these young athletes are protected and happy.

And let's be real, who doesn't love a good snow day (even if it's for sports)? πŸ˜‚ It's just another chance for the community to come together and make some magic happen. And I'm all about that positivity πŸ’–!
