Into the Woods review – Brothers Grimm gloriously mashed up by Sondheim

just saw this production of Into the Woods and i'm still reeling from it 🤯 the way they wove all these fairytales together was genius, but what really stood out to me was how relatable the whole thing felt – it's like they took all our childhood wishes and dreams and twisted them into something so much deeper than that 😊

I'm thinking... what's so fascinating about this reimagined "Into the Woods"? It's like they took all these fairytales and intertwined them into a big ol' puzzle 🤯, but what does it say about us when we're drawn to these stories that have been passed down for centuries? Are we just trying to make sense of our own messy lives by looking at someone else's problems? And what does this say about family dynamics? We all know how complicated those can be... and how they shape who we are today 💔. I'm also wondering, what's the deal with these shows that are supposed to bring people together but often end up feeling like a big ol' mess 🤪. Can it ever truly capture the complexity of human relationships?

So what do you guys think about this reimagining of Into the Woods? 🤔 The production sounds amazing, with a talented cast bringing all these beloved fairytales to life. I mean, who doesn't love a good story that's not just about some cheesy romance or action-packed adventure, but actually about complex human emotions and relationships? 💕 It's like they took all the best bits of each character's journey and wove them together into this beautiful tapestry.

And can we talk about Kate Fleetwood's Witch? She sounds like a total scene-stealer! 🎭 I love how she gets to bring both humor and pathos to her role, it's like the perfect balance. And that cast is just so talented, with Gracie McGonigal shining as Red Ridinghood. It's like they're all speaking straight to you in that song "Agony" 🎶

What do you guys think about how the production stays true to the original story while also feeling fresh and new? Is this what makes it so special?

The production is actually pretty good 🤔... I mean, who wouldn't want to see a musical with fairytales all mixed up? The cast is talented, don't get me wrong - Kate Fleetwood's Witch is quite iconic 💁‍♀️. But let's be real, it's not like the show's got any groundbreaking plot twists or anything 🤷‍♀️. It's just your standard fairytale shenanigans with some clever songwriting thrown in. The set design is also pretty cool, I'll give them that 👏... but I mean, how original is a woodland theme? Still, it's a solid show if you're into that sort of thing 🎭.
