It Sure Sounds Like 'Star Trek 4' Is Dead (Again)

Paramount's Paramount Pivot: Star Trek 4 Axed in Favor of a Fresh Start

The wait is over – at least, for this chapter of it. Ten years have passed since the rebooted Star Trek cast took to the big screen, and in that time, there have been numerous attempts to revive the franchise. With the new head of Paramount, David Ellison, at the helm, it appears that the decision has finally been made: Star Trek 4 is dead.

The news comes as a surprise, given the recent reports that suggested Chris Pine and the rest of the J.J. Abrams reboot cast would be returning for another installment, along with an "origins of Starfleet" movie. However, it seems those plans are no more. Instead, Paramount is opting for a fresh start.

Paramount's new leadership has made it clear that they want to bring back the franchise in a way that feels revitalized and exciting. The studio has moved on from the idea of revisiting the same cast and storylines, instead opting for something entirely new. This approach may be the right move given the diminishing returns of the previous two sequels, Into Darkness and Beyond.

While this news is sure to delight fans who are eager for a new Star Trek adventure, it's also sad to see the original cast, including Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, being left behind. Their adventures still feel incomplete somehow, leaving many wondering what could have been if they had continued as part of the franchise.

However, as we've seen before in the world of Star Trek, anything is possible when it comes to the future. With multiple timelines and realities at play, the possibilities are endless – even if that means not happening immediately.

So, will the world be ready for a fully new recast Enterprise crew? Or will Paramount take a chance on something completely out of left field? The answer remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the future of Star Trek has never looked more uncertain – and exciting.

🤔 I mean, think about it... after 3 movies with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, they're done? It's like, what happened to their stories? 📚 The original cast had some great potential for a new direction, but now we gotta start from scratch? That's a risk. But hey, at least the franchise is getting a reboot... 💡 I'm curious to see how this new crew will play out, especially with all the different timelines and whatnot. 🕰️ Maybe it'll be cool to explore some new corners of the Star Trek universe. Fingers crossed! 👍

OMG, what's going on with this new Paramount head ?? I was low-key hyped for another Trek movie, especially since Pine & Quinto were coming back, but now it seems like they're starting from scratch . Can't say I blame them tho, Into Darkness & Beyond didn't exactly set the box office on fire . Maybe this fresh start thing will bring some excitement to the franchise? But dude, what about all the fans who wanna see the original cast's storylines wrap up?? I guess only time'll tell if they'll take a chance on recasting the entire crew

🚀 I'm kinda bummed to hear that Star Trek 4 is being axed 🤔. I mean, who doesn't love Chris Pine's Kirk? 😎 But I guess this new direction could be a good thing 💡. I've been loving the idea of a fresh start, especially after those two sequels didn't quite live up to the hype 🚫💔. Now we get to see what a new crew and storyline can bring! 🌟 The possibilities are endless, just like in the world of Star Trek 🤖. But for now, I'm kinda curious - how will they recast the main roles? Will it be a reboot or a prequel? 🎬🕰️ I'll be keeping an eye on this one... 👀

omg, i'm shocked... like whoa 🤯 star trek 4 was literally the last thing i thought would get axed 😂 it's been 10 whole years since the reboot cast took over and now they're just ditching the whole crew 🚫 and starting fresh? idk man, part of me is stoked for a new beginning but another part of me is all "noooooo" 😭 chris pine & zachary quinto are like the original crew 👊 i guess we'll just have to wait and see what kind of weird timelines & realities paramount has cooked up 🤪

I'm so bummed about Star Trek 4 being axed 🤕 I mean, I get it, the previous two movies didn't exactly set the universe on fire, but still, Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto were perfect as Kirk and Spock... or at least, that's what we thought 😂. It'll be weird to see a new crew take over the Enterprise, but I guess that's the beauty of Star Trek - it can go in so many directions 🚀.

I'm kinda stoked about the idea of an "origins of Starfleet" movie, though... would've loved to see more of those early days and how it all came together 💫. It's always hard to recast a franchise, but if anyone can make it work, Paramount can 😊. I just hope they keep the spirit of exploration and discovery that makes Star Trek so beloved ❤️.

It's interesting that David Ellison is shaking things up - maybe this fresh start will be exactly what Star Trek needs to reignite the spark 🔥. Whatever happens next, I'll be keeping my eyes on it... fingers crossed for a new adventure! 🚀
