Lauryn Hill Leads Emotional Grammy In Memoriam Tribute to D’Angelo and Roberta Flack, Reunites With Fugees’ Wyclef Jean

Grammy Tribute to D'Angelo and Roberta Flack Leaves Audience in Tears: Lauryn Hill Shines with Emotional Performances

The latest Grammy Awards ceremony saw a poignant tribute to two soul music legends, D'Angelo and Roberta Flack, curated by Lauryn Hill. The heartfelt segment featured an all-star lineup of musicians who paid homage to these icons through their powerful performances.

The D'Angelo tribute was a standout moment in the ceremony, with Lauryn Hill joining forces with her musician friends to deliver soulful renditions of his classic hits. Lucky Daye kicked off the tribute with a smooth rendition of "Brown Sugar," followed by Raphael Saadiq and Anthony Hamilton's harmonious performance of "Lady." The performances continued with Leon Thomas delivering an emotional take on "Devil's Pie" before Transition and Vanguard BGVS brought the house down with their powerful rendition of "Another Life."

The Roberta Flack tribute was just as impressive, with Lauryn Hill again leading the way alongside Jon Batiste. Their poignant performance of "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" set the tone for an evening of emotional tributes. The segment continued with Leon Bridges and Lalah Hathaway delivering a powerful take on "Closer I Get to You," followed by John Legend and Chaka Khan's uplifting rendition of "Where Is the Love?"

However, it was Lauryn Hill's performance of Flack's classic hit "Killing Me Softly with His Song" that truly stole the show. The song marked a special moment as she reconnected with her Fugees bandmate Wyclef Jean for a heartfelt tribute to Roberta Flack's legacy.

The tributes paid to D'Angelo and Roberta Flack served as a poignant reminder of their enduring impact on soul music. Both artists left an indelible mark on the genre, inspiring generations of musicians with their innovative styles and timeless hits. As Lauryn Hill's performance demonstrated, their legacies continue to resonate deeply with audiences today.

I'm still getting chills thinking about it! 😊

I'm telling you, that Lauryn Hill is a total legend 🙌! She absolutely killed it (pun intended) during those tributes, I mean, have you seen her emotional performances? Her energy and passion are infectious, it's like she's channeling the spirits of D'Angelo and Roberta Flack herself 🔥. And let's be real, who else could make a 20-year-old song sound as fresh and relevant as "Killing Me Softly"? I mean, that girl can bring the house down with her voice, no question 🏠. She's truly a master of her craft, and we're all lucky to have witnessed those incredible performances 👏.

I mean, can't believe they didn't include any video footage from Roberta Flack's iconic performances 🤔... I get that it was a tribute about the music, but come on, some visuals would've been awesome to see 📹. And Lauryn Hill did shine, no doubt about that 💫... but some of those other artists got kinda lost in the shuffle 🔇... and don't even get me started on the transitions between songs – felt like they kept interrupting each other 😩... overall though, it was a nice tribute, but I'd've liked to see more 🎶.
