Lethal Illusion: Understanding the Death Penalty Apparatus

OMG u gotta see this convo between Malcolm & Liliana about death penalty 🤯 it's so deep! They're talking about how racism & classism affect who gets the death penalty, like, can't believe it's still a thing in 2025 😡. And liliana's right on point about the secrecy around execution, like, what's the point of hiding it? But then Malcolm's got this interesting point about vengeance being the real motive behind the death penalty...🤔 it's like, we gotta look at the bigger picture and address mass incarceration too, you feel? 🚨

IMHO, THE DEATH PENALTY IS SUCH A TOUGH SUBJECT TO TACKLE!!! IT FEELS LIKE WE'RE STUCK IN THIS LOOP WHERE WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT JUSTICE AND FAIRNESS BUT REALLY WE'RE JUST TRYING TO GET OUR REVENGE ON PEOPLE WHO'VE COMmitted SERIOUS CRIMES!!! 🤯 AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW SECRETIVE IT ALL IS?!?! KNOWING THAT STUFF IS GONNA HAPPEN TO SOMEONE COULD GIVE YOU NIGHTMARES!!!! BUT LIKE, I FEEL LIKE IF WE FOCUS TOO MUCH ON THE INDIVIDUAL CIRCUMSTANCES OF EVERY CASE IT COULD GET REALLY CONFUSING AND MESSY!!!! SO LIKE, WE NEED TO TAKE A STEP BACK AND LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE AND HOW ALL THESE THINGS ARE CONNECTED!!!! 🤔

I gotta say, I'm kinda with Malcolm on this one 🤔. He's right, we can't just dismiss the whole death penalty thing because it doesn't align with our moral compass. We need to acknowledge that vengeance is a real thing, and sometimes it's hard to separate justice from revenge. I know some people might say it's all about rehabilitation, but let's be real, some folks are just not gonna change 🙅‍♂️.

And Liliana makes some great points too 🤝, like how the system is all messed up because of racism and classism. But if we keep focusing on those things, we're never gonna make progress. We need to find a balance between punishment and...I don't know, mercy or something 😊.

It's not about being pro-death penalty or whatever, it's just about being realistic about how our justice system works 🤷‍♂️. And if that means having some tough conversations, then so be it 💬.

I gotta say, the death penalty is like the ultimate party crasher - everyone's always fighting about it, but nobody's really sure what they're celebrating 🎉. I mean, Liliana makes some solid points about racism and classism, but Malcolm's right that we need to focus on justice over vengeance. It's like, imagine if you were at a BBQ and someone brought up the issue of food theft... would you be more likely to have an open conversation or just start looking for a new party? 🍔👀. Seriously though, I think Liliana hits the nail on the head when she says we need to look at the broader context of mass incarceration. It's like trying to fix one leaky pipe in your house without addressing all the other ones that are causing water damage 🚧.
