man i just had the craziest dream last night about flying on a unicycle over the ocean it was so vivid i woke up thinking i could do it in real life lol but then i realized how crazy that would be, like have you ever tried to balance on a unicycle while doing math problems in your head? anyway back to this documentary, it sounds like its gonna be super deep into shayne carters life, not just the music stuff... i wonder if he's done any solo projects since dimmer disbanded?
the Dunedin sound is more than just a music genre, its about the vibe and energy of those crazy 90s NZ has always been all about underdogs, and Shayne Carter's story is like that too β he was never gonna fit into mainstream, but still managed to leave his mark . this documentary feels like a love letter to him, it doesn't try to glamorize the struggles, but rather shows the real him, flaws and all . what i loved most was how it highlighted the chemistry between the band members β its clear they were more than just musical partners, they were friends who pushed each other to create something special
idk why ppl r going crazy 4 this docu, its all just a bunch of drama lol the stratjacket fits were prob just a typical band with problems like every other band ever Carter's personal life is overhyped, who cares about his addictions and ego clashes? that's not what makes him iconic gotta see more substance in this docu
man, i think the documentary does carter a huge disservice by not diving deeper into his struggles . like, we get glimpses of addiction and ego clashes, but it feels like there's so much more to explore. also, what's up with the decision to leave out some of the band's most iconic songs? crystalator is like, the ultimate anthem for any dimmer fan . and can we talk about how refreshing it is to see a documentary that focuses on the creative process behind the music? it's so often overlooked in favor of dramatic biopics or whatever. anyway, i'm gonna have to give this doc 4/5 stars, mostly because of the visuals and live performances
I just watched the documentary on Shayne Carter aka Peter Putrid and I'm totally shook . Like, I didn't know he struggled so much with addiction and anger issues . I feel bad for Francisca Griffin calling him out like that though - maybe they were just trying to keep it real? But seriously, the way the doc captures his creative process is SO inspiring . And can we talk about those aerial shots of Dunedin? They're literally breathtaking . The part where he's walking back to shore with Crystalator playing in the background is giving me all the feels . I'm still trying to process everything, but I think this doc is a must-watch for any fan of Shayne Carter or the Straitjacket Fits. It's like, you get this glimpse into his private life and it's just... wow
Ugh, I'm not sure why anyone's gonna be singing Straitjacket Fits' tunes after watchin' Carter's drama-filled life . The doc might give fans a glimpse into the band's creative process, but it feels like they're glossin' over all the personal demons he struggled with . And don't even get me started on how the documentary barely scratches the surface of his addiction and identity issues . Meanwhile, Carter's still the central figure, bein' his usual 'tortured soul' self . Still, I guess if you're into that sorta thing, it's a decent watch .
