Lil Uzi Vert releases new music and begins deal with Jay-Z's ROC Nation

Rapper Lil Uzi Vert Re-emerges with New Tracks and Partnership with Jay-Z's ROC Nation

After a nearly seven-month hiatus, Grammy-nominated rapper Lil Uzi Vert returned to the music scene this week, releasing two surprise tracks - "Chanel Boy" and "Relevant". The songs were dropped independently, despite his new affiliation with Jay-Z's music management and distribution company, ROC Nation.

The news of Uzi's signing with ROC Nation was announced in a press release, which stated that the deal allows the rapper to own the rights to his master recordings. Krystian Santini, president of ROC Nation Distribution, welcomed Uzi on board, saying, "UZI is a global icon and a dynamic force in the music industry... Our partnership is centered around empowering UZI to continue building their legacy, with full creative control and the resources to take their artistry to new heights."

"Chanel Boy" and "Relevant" are Lil Uzi's first new tracks in over a year. The songs showcase the artist's return to his experimental production style and playful lyrics, which often feature brand name drops. The music videos for both tracks have been released, with "Chanel Boy" featuring a car doing burnouts outside Franklin Music Hall, leaving tire marks that resemble the logo of the French luxury fashion brand mentioned in the song.

The rapper's latest album, "Eternal Atake 2", debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart last November. Since then, Uzi has been relatively quiet, only making appearances on other artists' tracks and releasing a brief 29-second song called "Uzi The Earthling! (TV Show Theme)".

Born Symere Bysil Woods, Lil Uzi Vert, 31, grew up in North Philly's Francisville neighborhood. His hit single "Just Wanna Rock", from the 2022 album "Pink Tape", became an anthem during the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl run and inspired players to show off their dance moves.

The new tracks are available on all music streaming platforms, with the official music videos available to watch below.

🀯 omg uzi is back and better than ever!!! i'm literally shaking right now cuz lil uzi vert just dropped 2 new tracks like no one's business 🎢 "Chanel Boy" & "Relevant" are fire πŸ”₯ i love how he's still experimenting with that production style he was famous for back in the day πŸ•Ί and those brand name drops tho πŸ˜‚ it's like uzi is giving us a whole new vibe, like he's on a mission to revive his music career πŸ’ͺ and partnering up with roc nation is literally the best news ever πŸ™Œ i mean who wouldn't want to work with jay-z's team, right? 🀝 anyway, "Eternal Atake 2" was already killing it last november but now uzi's back & better & more experimental than ever πŸ”₯ can't wait for that new album release πŸŽ‰

omg I'm so hyped for Lil Uzi Vert's comeback!! 🀩 he's been MIA from the music scene for ages and i was starting to think he'd never drop another track lol. but now that he's back, it's like he's more experimental than ever and those "Chanel Boy" and "Relevant" tracks are FIRE πŸ”₯ I love how he's still got his playful lyrics and brand name drops, it's like no time has passed at all πŸ•°οΈ anyway, i'm so glad he signed with ROC Nation too, that's a big deal for him. 31 is old for a rapper to be starting over but i guess you can never tell what's gonna happen in the music industry πŸ˜‚

So Lil Uzi Vert is back and better than ever πŸ’₯πŸ”₯! I'm loving the fact that he's got full creative control over his master recordings with ROC Nation - it's like a breath of fresh air for an artist who's been hiding in the shadows for too long πŸŒ™. The new tracks "Chanel Boy" and "Relevant" are giving me all the feels, from the catchy beats to the playful lyrics that always make me laugh πŸ˜‚. It's clear that Uzi is still experimenting with his sound, but in a good way - it's like he's pushing himself to try new things without losing his edge πŸ”ͺ.

And can we talk about Jay-Z for a sec? 🀝 I know some people might be worried that ROC Nation will start controlling Uzi's every move, but from what I've seen so far, they're actually giving him the freedom to do his own thing. It's all about empowering artists like Uzi to take their artistry to new heights, and if anyone can make it happen, Jay-Z is definitely the right guy 🎯.

What I'm most excited about is seeing where this partnership takes Uzi - will he release more music? Will we see a follow-up to "Eternal Atake 2"? The possibilities are endless, and I for one am hyped to find out πŸ”œ.

OMG 🀯 lol what's up with Uzi going solo for a sec? πŸ€” Like, Roc Nation is always trying to get behind upcoming artists but I guess Lil Uzi just needed some space πŸ’ And those new tracks though πŸ”₯ "Chanel Boy" is fire πŸ˜‚πŸ‘— I'm loving the energy, it's like he's back and ready to take over πŸ’ͺ The partnership with Roc Nation makes sense tho, I mean who doesn't want more creative control? 🀝 Now we just gotta see what's next from Uzi! πŸ‘€

I don't get what's so exciting about Lil Uzi Vert coming back with two new tracks πŸ€”πŸŽΆ. Seven months is a pretty long time to be quiet, and now he's just dropping them independently without any big fanfare? It feels like a PR stunt to me. And don't even get me started on the brand name drops - it's all about promoting his own swag and trying to be relevant πŸ€‘. I mean, what about the music itself? Is it really that good? The production style is experimental, but sometimes that just means it's jumbled and hard to listen to 😐. And Jay-Z's involvement with ROC Nation seems like a calculated move to boost Uzi's profile... not necessarily because he actually cares about his art πŸ€‘.

So Lil Uzi Vert is back in the game πŸŽΆπŸ‘Š, but let's talk about this partnership with Jay-Z's ROC Nation - what does it say about our music industry that a rapper needs a label to release new music? It feels like an endorsement of the business model, where artists are seen as commodities rather than creatives. And what about the master recordings deal - is that just a PR move to make Uzi look like a visionary entrepreneur or is there something more to it?

I think this signing also highlights the dichotomy between old-school hip-hop and the new wave of artists who are pushing boundaries. Lil Uzi Vert's style is all about experimentation and blurring lines, but does this partnership with ROC Nation mean he'll be watered down by the label's influence? On the other hand, having a major label behind him could be a game-changer for his career - will it give him more creative freedom or just a bigger marketing budget?

One thing's for sure - this partnership is all about optics. The press release is full of buzzwords like "empowering" and "legacy-building", but what does that really mean in practice? Is Uzi being given the autonomy he wants, or is Jay-Z's team trying to shape his image to fit a particular mold? We'll just have to wait and see how this plays out... πŸ€”

OMG yaaas lil Uzi Vert is back!!! i'm so stoked for him he's been gone for ages and it's like he just stepped out of a fashion show lol Chanel Boy has me dying what's next tho? he's on fire with this new track Relevant I love how he's still experimenting with production style, it's like his own special sauce can't wait to see what's in store for him now that he's part of ROC Nation

🎡 The re-emergence of Lil Uzi Vert is a fascinating phenomenon! His return to the music scene after a nearly seven-month hiatus is a testament to his enduring appeal and creative vision πŸ’‘. The fact that he's released two surprise tracks, "Chanel Boy" and "Relevant", independently despite his new partnership with ROC Nation speaks volumes about his confidence in his artistry 🎯. It's also intriguing to note that he's opting for full creative control under the terms of his deal, which could potentially lead to a more experimental and innovative approach to his music 🌈. Overall, I'm excited to see how this new chapter will unfold and how Uzi will continue to push boundaries with his sound πŸ”Š.
