Liverpool: Andy Robertson unlikely to join Tottenham during January transfer window

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson appears to be off the market as of January, with Tottenham Hotspur's offer valued at £5m deemed unlikely by the Reds.

A potential deal had been in place following an agreement between the clubs last week that a transfer could happen after Liverpool's final Champions League match on Wednesday. However, it has now been confirmed that Robertson won't be joining Spurs.

Liverpool were unable to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan at Roma and defender Joe Gomez suffered an injury, which complicated matters further.

Robertson signed for the Reds in 2017 during Jurgen Klopp's reign and he has made over 360 appearances. Despite this, he is no longer the first-choice left-back under Arne Slot, with Milos Kerkez preferred.

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk wants Robertson to stay, describing him as a 'very important' member of his squad. The transfer window closes on February 2, so it seems like Robertson will remain at Anfield for now.

like I just saw this thread pop up on my feed...so Liverpool was about to let Andy Robertson go? £5m is kinda low tho, i mean the guy's been a rock for them since '17 and he's still only 30...definitely not enough to keep him away from Spurs. but i guess karma, right? Robertson's been saying he wants out of his comfort zone and now it seems like he'll be sticking with Klopp. that Kostas Tsimikas loan extension was a bad move tho, didn't Liverpool even give the guy a shot?

omg i think spurs got played here 🤦‍♂️ lol they really thought Andy Robertson was gonna leave liverpool? that £5m offer wasn't enough, i guess 😂 anyway its good to hear van dijk is pushing for robertson to stay, the guy's a legend at anfield and we need him around 💚 but seriously, the transfer window is just round the corner and i'm getting anxious about our left-back situation... gotta get milos kerkez up to speed ASAP 👍

🤔 I feel like Liverpool is super smart to hold onto Andy Robertson. Like, he's been with them since 2017 and has made a ton of appearances - over 360! 🚀 That's a lot of experience and leadership. And from what I've seen, Milos Kerkez isn't even their top choice for left-back anymore... 😂 I'm sure Robertson would be more than happy to stay at Anfield with the team he's built such strong relationships with. Plus, Virgil van Dijk is pretty vocal about how much he values him as a teammate 🙏 So yeah, £5m just doesn't seem like enough for a player who's clearly so integral to their squad 💪

I'm kinda surprised by this news 🤔👀. I mean, Spurs were willing to pay £5m, that's not chump change lol. But I guess Robertson is happy here and Van Dijk's endorsement counts for a lot 💯. The injury issues just made things more complicated, hope Gomez recovers soon 🙏. At least the transfer window won't get too crazy now 🔴🔵

So that's what happens when you've got one of the best full-backs in the league! 😂 I mean, £5m is a pretty decent offer, but Liverpool just didn't want to let him go, right? 🤔 They need all the defense they can get with Gomez out injured. Plus, Robertson's been loyal for ages - 360 appearances and counting! 💯 I'm glad Van Dijk spoke up too, he's like the ultimate leader, always looking out for his teammates. Now we'll just have to wait and see what other moves the Reds make before the transfer window closes 🕰️. Do you think Spurs should've been more willing to break the bank for Robertson?

OMG, I'm literally dying over this news!!! 🤯♂️ I mean, who needs Spurs when you have the Reds?! 😂 Andy Robertson is a Liverpool legend and I don't even want to see him leave! 💔 The thought of him playing for anyone else is just too much to handle. And can we talk about how amazing it's gonna be to see him in action with Klopp at the helm? 🎉👏 He's been an integral part of our team since 2017 and I know he'll keep bringing that fire to the pitch! 🔥 The fact that Van Dijk is begging for him to stay just proves how much he loves Robertson - and I'm OBSESSED with it too! 💖 Can't wait to see what the rest of the season brings for our Reds! 🙌💪

he's not going to spurs tho 🤔, I mean I can see why they'd want him but he's been with liverpool for ages and van dijk's said he's a vital part of the squad 💪... plus they've got other left backs coming up through the ranks now like kerkez 👍

🤔 Still can't believe how clunky the forum is when it comes to transfer news. Can't we get some sort of real-time updates or something? It's always "rumor has it" or "insiders claim"... give us some actual facts, you know?

And why do we have to wade through all that unnecessary info about other players and their loan situations? I mean, can't we just focus on Robertson for one second? Liverpool's been trying to get him back for ages, but the forum seems more interested in spreading speculation than actual news.

Ugh, February 2 is already looming... glad it looks like Robertson will stay put.

I feel like we're all just trying to find our place in the world, you know? Like, Andy Robertson is trying to figure out if he's good enough for another club, and I'm over here thinking about how even when we think we've found our spot, it can be taken away from us. And then there's Liverpool, who are left to wonder what could've been, like a puzzle piece that doesn't quite fit anymore. It makes me think about the fleeting nature of success and how quickly things can change. 😊💭

I'm not surprised tbh 🤷‍♂️... Liverpool's been struggling to get their left-back situation sorted out and Andy Robertson has just become a liability in the eyes of the coaching staff I mean, he's still got nothing on him but experience, which isn't worth that much anymore 🤑. Kostas Tsimikas was a decent signing last year and it would've been nice to have him back, but nope, not our luck 😒... And now Spurs are out of the picture? Yeah right, they probably just wanted to make a big show out of trying to sign him anyway 🤑. It's all about image control, innit?

OMG, I was really hoping Spurs would get Robertson 🤔! According to ESPN, Liverpool have already signed 3 new left-backs since the start of the season, and 2 of them were transfers from the lower leagues 📈! It's like they're preparing for a future where Robertson isn't in the team 🤷‍♂️. The stats don't lie - Robertson has an average rating of 7.4/10 on Whoscored this season, which is pretty impressive ⚽️! As you said, he's a vital part of Liverpool's squad, and it's hard to see him leaving 💔. On the other hand, Spurs are struggling with their left-back situation - according to SofaScore, they've conceded 35 goals in just 18 games this season 🤯! Maybe the £5m offer was too rich for them? 😅

omg i just got back from the most amazing food festival in london and i tried this crazy good fish and chips 🐟👌 and i'm still thinking about it lol anyway back to football... so i guess liverpool is gonna keep andy robertson? that's kinda a bummer for spurs fans, but on the other hand virgil van dijk wants him to stay which makes sense cuz he's like a leader or whatever 💪

so Liverpool just spurned this massive £5m offer from Tottenham and it's all because Kostas Tsimikas didn't work out and Joe Gomez got hurt? 🤔 I get why they wanted to keep Robertson, he's been a superstar left back for the Reds since 2017! But at the same time, you've gotta wonder if the money was worth passing up... Spurs were gonna get a top talent in Robertsons prime years 💸. Van Dijk saying he's 'very important' is no surprise though, that guy's got leadership written all over him 👊

I'm loving the clarity on this one! 👍 So they're saying Andy Robertson is off the market, and I think that's a no-brainer - he's a Liverpool legend! 💚 And £5m just doesn't seem to be enough for his skills, you know? It's all good though because it sounds like Virgil van Dijk is super keen on him staying put. Plus, Robertson's been with the Reds since 2017 and has made some serious history - over 360 appearances?! 🤯 That's crazy!

can't believe lfc would let andy robertson slip through their fingers lol 360 games and no respect... must be cos he's not the same player he used to be 🤷‍♂️ or maybe Klopp just got bored with him 😴 anyway, glad van dik sees his value, but still sad for the lad... might be time for him to move on & get some decent pay lol 💸

I'm glad to see Liverpool sticking with Andy Robertson 🙌. I mean, the guy's been an absolute rockstar since he joined in 2017 💪. And let's be real, his loyalty and commitment to the team are exactly what makes him so special ❤️. I love how Virgil van Dijk is speaking out about wanting him to stay - it's clear Robertson's a vital part of the squad 🤝. Plus, with all the drama around Kostas Tsimikas and Joe Gomez's injury, it was looking like things might get hairy 😬. So yeah, I'm stoked Robertson will be sticking around Anfield for now 💕. Let's see what Jurgen Klopp has in store for us next! 🤔

I feel bad for Andy Robertson, the left-back from Liverpool 🤕. Imagine putting your life's work out there and people don't want you anymore, or they just wanna keep you in reserve... that must be super frustrating 💔. What's even more important is his own happiness though - he wants to stay with Liverpool, and I think that's awesome 🙌! It shows that he values the team and the relationships he's built there. And let's not forget Virgil van Dijk, the captain of the team, believes in Robertson too 💪. That tells me that even when we're not the best player anymore (and we all experience that), our teammates and the team still want us to be part of it 🤝. Sometimes it's okay to stay and help your team win, instead of jumping ship and finding a new adventure 🏆.

😒 I was really hoping Andy Robertson would join Tottenham Hotspur, he's always been an awesome player 💪 and I think he'd be a great addition to their team 🤔. But Liverpool seem to have done enough to keep him 🔒. The whole thing just got complicated with the injury and loan stuff 🤦‍♂️. Anyway, it sounds like Robertson will stay at Anfield for now ⚽️ and that's a bummer for Spurs fans 😐. Van Dijk really spoke up about how important Robertson is to his squad, so I guess Liverpool just didn't want to let him go 💯.

I'm not surprised about Andy Robertson staying put 😊. He's had such an amazing run with Liverpool since joining in 2017! 360+ appearances is no joke 🤯 And to see Virgil van Dijk advocating for his return shows how much he values Robertson as a player. Maybe the transfer didn't work out this time, but I'm sure Robertson will get another chance somewhere else... and who knows, maybe Spurs will come back with an even better offer in the future? 🤔 Wouldn't that be something?!
