Man ‘murdered’ outside ritzy Long Island yacht club left haunting trail of Facebook posts: ‘Time to rest when I’m dead’

Mysterious Facebook Posts Lead to Brutal Murder of Suffolk County Man Outside Upscale Yacht Club

A 52-year-old man from Suffolk County, New York, left behind a chilling trail of cryptic Facebook posts before his gruesome murder outside an exclusive Long Island yacht club earlier this week. Christopher Millwater's eerie messages have sparked questions about the possible motives behind his violent death.

In the days leading up to his fatal encounter on Saturday morning, Millwater posted a series of concerning updates on his social media page. One such post read: "Plenty of time to rest when I'm dead so now it's a quick shower and gym time." The message seemed out of place for someone who had clearly been struggling with mental health issues.

The following day, Millwater hinted at a troubled past, referencing the iconic three-sided recovery-unity-service symbol often associated with recovery and sobriety. "NOBODY can throw my past in my face," he wrote. "I will personally sit down and tell you my story, beginning to end. What may be your gossip, is your testimony." This statement suggested that Millwater was trying to confront his demons, but the true nature of his struggles remains unknown.

Millwater's final Facebook post, shared just hours before his body was discovered in front of 21 Shore Road, read: "The Fog is temporary, the clarity that follows is welcomed." The message has left investigators baffled and searching for answers.

Suffolk County police have confirmed that Millwater was murdered, but have not yet announced an arrest or provided additional details about the case. The motive behind his violent death remains a mystery, with no clear connection between his Facebook posts and the circumstances surrounding his murder.

Millwater's personal life has been shrouded in secrecy, with public records showing he owned two small boats in the 1990s but none are currently registered in his name. His home was surrounded by an unresponsive crowd, who declined to comment on the matter when questioned by The Post.

The case highlights the darker side of social media, where seemingly innocuous posts can conceal a complex web of emotions and motives. As investigators continue to dig into Millwater's life, they are left to wonder: what drove one man to commit such a heinous crime?

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this guy's final post 🤯 "The Fog is temporary, the clarity that follows is welcomed"... it's like he was trying to leave a message for whoever found his body. I mean, what even does that mean?! 😕 It's not like it's some deep philosophical poem or anything. Just a bunch of words strung together. And now this guy's dead 💀. Like, what's the point? Can we just get some answers around here?! 🤔 The police are stumped, and I don't blame 'em, but come on! A guy posts cryptic messages online, and then he gets murdered outside a fancy yacht club? That's not exactly rocket science 🚀.

Umm this is soooo weird 🤔👀 like what even was goin on in his head before he died?! 😱 He was talkin about rest and gym time but then he's postin stuff about bein haunted by the past 💔 It's like he was tryna warn people somethin or somethin 🚨

And those Facebook posts... they're so cryptic 🔮📝 I mean, "The Fog is temporary" what does that even mean?! 🤷‍♀️ Is it a metaphor for his death? Or is it like he was tryna send out a message to someone? 🤔

I'm just so confused about this whole thing 😕 It's like he left us all with more questions than answers 🤯 I hope they catch whoever did this to him, but man... the thought of these posts leadin up to his murder is just crazy 😲

I'm telling you, something fishy is going on here. That guy was posting these cryptic messages about his past, like he was trying to send out some kind of signal. And then suddenly, boom! Murdered outside this exclusive yacht club. It's like they wanted him dead. I mean, who kills someone over a few Facebook posts?

And have you seen the crowd surrounding his house? Unresponsive? Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. They're hiding something. Maybe he was onto some big conspiracy and they silenced him? The three-sided recovery-unity-service symbol, that's like a code. He was trying to expose something.

And what's with the "Fog is temporary" post? Like it's a clue or something. I'm telling you, this is more than just a random murder. There's a cover-up going on here.

the more i think about this story, the more intrigued i am 🤔 the fact that chris millwater was posting these cryptic messages on facebook just hours before his murder is just wild 😲 like, what were they even trying to say or warn us about? and then there's this whole symbol thing... it's like he's trying to leave some kind of message behind, but what does it mean? 🤷‍♀️ i'm also a bit worried about the idea that social media can be so messed up 📱 we share our most vulnerable selves online, but sometimes that doesn't even help us process our emotions at all... anyway, this whole case is just super mysterious and unsettling 😬

omg this is like so sad 🤕 ... i dont know about those facebook posts but it sounds like millwater was strugglin with some serious stuff 💔 his messages were all over the place, from bein all chill and then suddenly talkin about how he's dealin with demons... i feel like there should've been somethin more done to prevent this 🤦‍♂️ i mean, we're livin in 2025 and social media is still a mystery sometimes 📱 ... it's crazy thinkin about how ppl can be so brave and share their struggles online but then have nobody reach out to help... anywayz, my heart goes out to millwater's fam 👊

people these days gotta be so extra 😩... 52 yr old dude posting cryptic messages on FB like some kinda thriller novel 📚 and then BOOM 💀. no idea what was goin down in his life, but it's clear somethin was weighin heavy on him. social media can be a weird place, it's like everybody's tryna show the world they're doin alright when really they might just be strugglin. 🤷‍♂️
