my mind is just totally blown by this case, you know? it's like, can't believe a 23-year-old man would do something so horrific to a child, especially one who's already in such a vulnerable position. and what really gets me is that the police are always saying they're doing everything right, but then some politician comes along and is all like "nope, you're not following guidelines". it's just so frustrating
i mean, i get that people want to know more about these guys' immigration status, but can't we focus on the fact that they committed such a heinous crime? shouldn't that be the priority? anyway, it's all just really messed up. and i'm not sure what's more disturbing, the fact that these men did this or the fact that people are protesting against asylum seekers over it... like, shouldn't we be supporting them instead of turning on each other?
this whole thing is so messed up ... i mean, you've got these two guys, and one's admitted to raping a 12-year-old girl, and the other's been denying it all along... but what really gets me is how this case has brought out all this far-right hate in the community. like, people are actually marching around with flags waving st george's cross... doesn't that just feel like a distraction from what's really important here? which is holding these guys accountable for their crimes.
and meanwhile, we're hearing rumors about their immigration status... i mean, i get where people are coming from, but shouldn't our focus be on justice and protecting vulnerable kids, not on debating who deserves to stay in this country? it's all just so complicated...
